Wed Aug 21 201300:20Murphy homers again, but Cubs lose to Nats
Donnie Murphy went 2-for-4 with his seventh home run against the Nationals on Tuesday.
Another day, another Donnie Murphy home run. He's now got seven in 48 at-bats, producing a robust and wildly unsustainable .333/.396/.854 line since being called up. We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop -- and it will drop -- but in the meantime, the 30-year-old is getting hard to ignore in mixed leagues.

Mon Aug 19 201323:24Donnie Murphy homers twice in Cubs' rout
Donnie Murphy hit a pair of solo homers Monday against the Nationals.
That's six homers in 44 at-bats for the red-hot Murphy. He's always had decent pop -- he had 18 homers in 577 major league at-bats entering the season -- but this is getting ridiculous now. He'll remain the Cubs' third baseman until he cools off. He really shouldn't have any lasting value in mixed leagues.

Fri Aug 16 201320:14Donnie Murphy reaches three times
Donnie Murphy stayed hot Friday, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk against the Cardinals.
Murphy is hitting .333 with four homers, three doubles and nine RBI in 33 at-bats since his callup. The Cubs will keep using him until he slows down. It should happen before much longer, though.

Wed Aug 7 201322:36Murphy blasts two homers, Cubs top Phils 5-2
Donnie Murphy went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in the Cubs' 5-2 win over the Phillies on Wednesday.
Murphy has certainly come out of the gate swinging. Since being recalled on August 3, Murphy is 4-for-9 with three home runs and seven RBI. He's got an extensive track record of performing well below his current level of production, so he's heading toward a cliff in the near future. But it's worth riding him while he's hot in NL-only leagues.

Tue Jul 31 201223:56Donnie Murphy homers in loss to Braves
Donnie Murphy hit a solo homer on Tuesday, accounting for all of the Marlins' runs in a loss to the Braves.
While Murphy has displayed impressive power with his three homers and eight RBI in just 59 at-bats, he's struggling to make consistent contact and hitting only .169. The infielder probably isn't worth the gamble in standard fantasy leagues.
