MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Seattle Mariners say they will have a better idea on the projected length of Robinson Cano's recovery time after the second baseman is examined by a hand specialist in Philadelphia on Tuesday.The eight-time All-Star broke the pinkie finger of his right hand when hit by a pitch from left-hander Blaine Hardy on Sunday at the Detroit.Cano is batting .287 with four homers, 23 RBIs and a .385 on-base percentage in 39 games this season."Any team that's going to lose their three-hole hitter, nobody's got somebody to just step in and replace that guy," manager Scott Servais said Monday. "Guys around him, throughout our lineup, really throughout the whole ball club, kind of need to step up."Seattle put Cano on the 10-day disabled list and recalled infielder Gordon Beckham from Tacoma of the Triple-A International League. He played in 10 games last season for Toronto and had one hit in 25 at-bats.The 32-year-old played in 93 games with the Tigers in 2016, hitting .171 with 38 RBIs. LHP Blaine Hardy agreed on a one-year contract with the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, thus avoiding arbitration. The deal is worth about $750,000, according to the Detroit News. He made barely above the league minimum last year of about $520,000. He was eligible for arbitration for the first time this offseason. Hardy, 30, pitched in 35 games for Tigers in 2017 and had a 1-0 record with a 5.94 ERA over 33 1/3 innings with 28 strikeouts. Hardy also appeared in 34 games (two starts) with Triple-A Toledo and went 7-3 with three saves, a 3.10 ERA over 40 2/3 innings and 45 strikeouts. In four major league seasons with the Tigers, Hardy has a 9-4 record with a 3.62 ERA over 159 1/3 innings with 134 strikeouts in 164 outings

He cleaned up that inning, although he gave up an RBI single, then imploded in the sixth and was tagged for two runs of his own. Hardy was 1-0 with a 6.05 ERA in 23 games for Detroit earlier this season.
