Ed Lucas ripped a go-ahead solo homer in the 10th inning of Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

Mon Aug 12 201323:28Ed Lucas goes 0-for-4 in Marlins' loss
Ed Lucas went 0-for-4 on Monday, leaving him with a .202 average and a 23/4 K/BB ratio in 84 at-bats since the All-Star break.
Lucas has started 21 of the last 22 games anyway. He's mostly playing third base, but he's also getting starts at first when Logan Morrison sits. It's a nice story that he's in the majors -- the 31-year-old Dartmouth product was a career minor leaguer until the Marlins called him up at the end of May -- but he's getting way too much playing time right now.

Tue Jul 23 201300:06Ed Lucas hits second major league homer
Ed Lucas went 2-for-5 and hit his second homer against the Rockies on Monday.
Lucas is a nice story as a 31-year-old making his major league debut, but as a corner infielder with very little power, he's not a particularly useful player. Of course, given that the third base alternative right now is Placido Polanco, the Marlins aren't really hurting themselves by playing him.

Ed Lucas went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the Marlins' loss to the Cardinals on Saturday.
Lucas had two of the Marlins' 11 hits. The career minor leaguer is hitting .326 in 13 games with the Marlins this season, and Marlins manager Mike Redmond has been hitting him second in the lineup -- recently, ahead of Giancarlo Stanton -- in most of his starts.
