Sun May 3 201520:57Delabar recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday
Delabar was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Delabar showed promise as a big-league reliever in 2012 and 2013, posting a K/9 above 12.5 in both seasons, albeit with some control issues and a mediocre ERA. He was then a complete disaster in 2014, finishing with a 4.91 ERA, 5.59 FIP, 7.4 K/9 and 6.7 BB/9 over 25.2 innings. The walks haven't been a problem at Triple-A Buffalo so far this season, but Delabar also doesn't seem to have rediscovered his ability to miss bats. No 31 years old, he'll likely be used in low and medium-leverage situations.
Thu Mar 26 201509:29Delabar optioned to minor league camp on Thursday
Delabar was optioned to minor league camp on Thursday, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Delabar had been competing for one of the final spots in the Jays' bullpen, but will instead begin the season in Triple-A. He posted a 4.91 ERA over 25.2 innings at the Major League level in 2014, but fell victim to much tighter competition this time around. Look for the right-hander to be one of the first names called if/when a need for bullpen depth arises.

Delabar will have an opportunity to return to the Blue Jays' bullpen this spring.
He's a darkhorse candidate to closer if he can get back to his pre-2014 levels, but the Jays have a few alternatives currently ahead of him on the organizational depth chart for saves. After getting hit in the shin by a come backer last season, Delabar struggled for the Jays before getting demoted to Triple-A Buffalo. Most likely, he'll pitch in middle relief if he can return to form.

Tue Jun 17 201416:04Blue Jays option Delabar to minors
Blue Jays optioned RHP Steve Delabar to Triple-A Buffalo.
There was some speculation that Delabar was possibly headed to the disabled list to make room for Munenori Kawasaki, but he has actually been demoted. It's quite a fall from grace for Delabar, who made the American League All-Star team. Still, he hasn't been nearly as effective this season, posting a mediocre 4.68 ERA and 21/16 K/BB ratio over 25 innings.

Fri May 24 201305:08Delabar enjoying productive season for Jays
Steve Delabar's first full season in Canada is going swimmingly, as he's 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 25 innings for the Jays.
Acquired from the Mariners for Eric Thames at last year's trade deadline, Delabar has been excellent since he stepped off the plane. The 29-year-old pitched in independent league ball from 2008-09, missed the 2010 season due to an elbow injury and spent most of 2011 in the minors. Delabar's amazing story includes a 3.21 ERA in 98 innings innings since his September 2011 debut.
