Marlins outrighted RHP Kris Harvey to Double-A Jacksonville.
The 26-year-old right-hander had to clear waivers after getting designated for assignment and losing his spot on the 40-man roster earlier this week. Harvey was drafted in the second round in 2005 as an outfielder, but started pitching full time in 2009. He has a ways to go before reaching his projected ceiling -- major league middle reliever.
Tue Jul 27 201017:18Marlins activate Harvey for assignment
Marlins designated RHP Kris Harvey for assignment.
Harvey was drafted in the second round in 2005 as an outfielder, but started pitching full time in 2009. The 26-year-old right-hander earned a promotion this season after posting six scoreless appearances with High-A Jupiter, but has a lousy 6.94 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in nine appearances with Double-A Jacksonville. He still has the potential to be a set-up man in the big leagues, but isn't close to a finished product.
