Wed Apr 1016:37Jeferson Quero To Have Season-Ending Surgery
Milwaukee Brewers catching prospect Jeferson Quero (shoulder), who is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 3 prospect, will have season-ending shoulder surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The recovery time is expected to be nine months. The 21-year-old backstop will miss the entire 2024 season after injuring his throwing shoulder during the first game of the year with Triple-A Nashville. Barring setbacks in the offseason, Quero should be ready for the start of spring training in 2025. Quero is already one of the best defensive catching prospects in the game and also hit .262/.339/.441 with a career-high 16 home runs, 49 RBI and five stolen bases in 90 games with Double-A Biloxi in 2023. Despite the injury, there's still a lot to like about Quero's long-term upside at the MLB level.

Fri Mar 2916:52Jeferson Quero Injured In Minor-League Game
Milwaukee Brewers No. 3 prospect Jeferson Quero (shoulder) was removed from Friday's game at Triple-A Nashville after he appeared to hurt his shoulder diving back to first base while being picked off. The severity of Quero's injury is unknown at this time, but it would be a really tough break for the Brewers and one of their top prospects if he suffered a serious injury this early in the season. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best defensive catchers in the minors, and he hit .262/.339/.441 with a career-high 16 home runs, 49 RBI and five stolen bases in 90 games over 381 trips to the plate with Double-A Biloxi in 2023. Quero is currently blocked at the major-league level by Willson Contreras, so a trade might be best for his long-term future at the next level.
