Thu Dec 2 201011:56Cherilus sits out practice
Lions RT Gosder Cherilus (knee) sat out Thursday's practice.
Cherilus was able to practice Wednesday, so it appears he's suffered a setback. MLive.com's Tom Kowalski thinks he'll be able to play this weekend, though. Drew Stanton needs all the help he can get, so not having Cherilus would hurt.

Thu Nov 25 201014:54Cherilus leaves with knee injury
Lions RT Gosder Cherilus left Thursday's game against the Patriots in the third quarter with a right knee injury.
Cherilus doesn't appear likely to return. Corey Hilliard has come on to protect against New England's weak pass rush.

Wed Sep 1 201016:52Gosder Cherilus holds off Jon Jansen
Gosder Cherilus has held off Jon Jansen and is expected to be the Lions' starting right tackle, at least to open the year.
Cherilus played "much better" in Detroit's third preseason game, and certainly offers a higher upside than Jansen. Jansen will be kept on the roster to guard against Cherilus' history of inconsistencies, but the better, younger talent winning is good news for a Lions offense from which we expect big things.

Wed Jul 21 201008:57Cherilus expected to win RT job
Gosder Cherilus is expected to win the Lions' right tackle job.
Cherilus is up against declining veteran Jon Jansen and fourth-round pick Jason Fox. As a former first-round pick with impressive size and athleticism, it shouldn't be much of a competition. But Cherilus often makes mental errors during games, something he'll try to clean up in his third season.

Fri Jun 25 201018:33Lions open right tackle spot to competition
The Lions have declared their right tackle position "wide open."
Incumbent Gosder Cherilus is coming off a miserable season both as a run and pass blocker, so Jon Jansen and rookie Jason Fox, among others, will be given looks with the first unit. Jansen is deep into his decline phase and Cherilusisn't any good. The pro-ready Fox might be Detroit's best option.

Tue May 18 201011:47Gosder Cherilus resumes practicing
Lions RT Gosder Cherilus (knee scope) has resumed practicing at OTAs.
Cherilus is roughly five weeks removed from the arthroscopic surgery, so he recovered quickly. He worked with the Lions' second-team offense Tuesday, presumably behind Jon Jansen. Cherilus figures to win the job before Week 1.

Wed May 5 201015:19Gosder Cherilus out for OTAs
Lions RT Gosder Cherilus is being held out of OTAs after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery three weeks ago.
Cherilus promises to be 100% by training camp, though the missed time won't help his chances of retaining a starting job. Matt Millen's last first-round pick in Detroit was penalty prone, and a liability as both a pass and run blocker in 2009. Jon Jansen and rookie Jason Fox are options to supplant him.
