Thu Aug 1 201314:3449ers to work out free agent Austin Collie
The 49ers will work out free agent WR Austin Collie again Thursday.
Collie worked out for the 49ers on June 13, so the team is likely bringing him back in to see how his recovery from right patellar tendon surgery is progressing. Fellow free agent receiver Laurent Robinson will also be working out for the Niners on Thursday. San Francisco has five wideouts nursing injuries.

Tue Jul 30 201316:18Dolphins worked out free agent Austin Collie
The Miami Herald confirms the Dolphins worked out free agent WR Austin Collie.
Collie was previously believed to "be a possibility," but it hadn't been reported that he had worked out. Collie offers similar upside and injury risk to Laurent Robinson, so current health and salary demands figure to be a sticking point when/if the Dolphins decide between the two. The team is also working out perennial camp body Julius Pruitt.

According to the Miami Herald, free agent WR Austin Collie is "believed to be a possibility" to address the Dolphins' depth issues at receiver.
The Dolphins have shown more interest in Laurent Robinson thus far. Miami needs wideout help after losing Rishard Mathews (undisclosed) indefinitely and Armon Binns (knee) for the season. Slot weapon Collie is 27 years old.

Sun Jul 14 201311:09Collie offers to sign injury-liability waiver
Free agent Austin Collie is willing to sign a liability waiver protecting the NFL team that signs him in the event of another injury.
Collie has suffered multiple concussions and a ruptured patellar tendon since entering the league. Although he recently received full medical clearance, NFL teams are wary of Collie due to the league's "conspicuous" concussion initiatives. "He's not an untouchable," said one personnel director. "But with all the attention (concussions) have gotten the past few years, and all the litigation and stuff, it would be hard (to sign him)."

Fri Jul 12 201309:27Report: 49ers remain interested in Collie
The Sacramento Bee reports the 49ers remain interested in free agent Austin Collie, but are unlikely to sign him before the beginning of training camp.
Collie worked out for the 49ers last month. Per beat writer Matt Barrows, the 49ers want to see how their young receivers and veteran fliers fare in camp before making a move on a more established talent like Collie. Fully recovered from his knee injury and spate of concussions, Collie has also worked out for the Patriots. How much Collie's body has left remains to be seen, but he'd be an intriguing addition to the 49ers offense.

Thu Jun 13 201313:4849ers working out free agent Austin Collie
Free agent Austin Collie worked out for the 49ers on Thursday.
Collie, 27, recently received full medical clearance for both his knee and head, so he's starting to work out for teams. The Niners are his second known visit; he worked out for the Patriots earlier in the month. Collie would be a nice bottom-of-the-receiver-corps addition with some upside.

Tue Jun 11 201317:51Report: Austin Collie fully medically cleared
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on NFL 32 that free agent Austin Collie has received full medical clearance for both his knee and head.
Collie is coming off a ruptured patellar tendon and has a long, well-publicized concussion history. Doctors have signed off on his medical health, and even his wife wants Collie to play, according to Mort. Collie recently tried out for the Patriots. The Ravens could be another intriguing landing spot because of Collie's history with offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell.

Tue Jun 11 201311:10Austin Collie had a workout with the Patriots
The Patriots recently worked out free agent WR Austin Collie.
As usual, the Patriots are willing to at least kick the tires on any free agent available. Collie is coming off a ruptured right patella tendon and has a frighteningly long concussion history, but wants back in the NFL. He's admitted that he won't be 100 percent until October. The Patriots currently have Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman at slot receiver, making a signing right now unlikely.

Wed Mar 6 201317:22Collie won't be 100 percent by Week 1
Free agent Austin Collie (knee) acknowledges that he likely won't be 100 percent until October.
Collie ruptured his right patella tendon late last September. He's "optimistic" about being ready for training camp, but might not be ready to contribute right off the bat. Collie also has a long history of concussions. After interviewing Collie, SI's Don Banks suggests he'll be open to a one-year, prove-it deal.

Sat Feb 16 201318:30Collie (knee) aiming to be ready for camp
Free agent Austin Collie (knee) is "optimistic" he'll be ready for training camp.
Collie ruptured his right patellar tendon in Week 3 and missed the rest of the season. It remains to be seen which camp he'll be in, though, after the Colts announced that they will not be re-signing the injury-riddled slot receiver. Patellar tendon tears are tough injuries to come back from.

Sat Feb 16 201311:11Irsay: Colts will not re-sign Austin Collie
The Colts will not re-sign free agent Austin Collie.
After multiple concussions and a ruptured right patellar tendon, Collie won't be in a Colts uniform in 2013. Owner Jim Irsay called Collie "a warrior and an inspiration for the franchise and Colts fans around the world." Irsay also added that Collie is "a great player for us and a superstar for our community, and will always be a part of the Colts family." A reunion with Peyton Manning in Denver is certainly a possibility for Collie.

Fri Feb 15 201316:44Colts moving on from Austin Collie & Freeney
The Indianapolis Star's Bob Kravitz reports that the Colts will not re-sign free agents Dwight Freeney and Austin Collie.
We already knew Freeney wouldn't be back. The "news" is Indianapolis' decision to part with Collie, who is coming off a ruptured right patellar tendon in addition to several previous concussions. One Colts source told Kravitz that, "If Collie had come along the same time as (Peyton) Manning, and had stayed healthy, he would have put up Welker like numbers." We wouldn't be surprised to see Collie reunite with Manning in Denver, replacing Brandon Stokley.

Mon Sep 24 201215:36Collie ruptures patella tendon, done for 2012
Austin Collie has been diagnosed with a ruptured right patella tendon, and is done for the season.
It's the worst possible news for one of the league's most snakebitten players, and clouds Collie's status for Week 1 2013. Ruptured patella tendons are typically trickier to come back from than torn ACLs. The upshot is that it gives Collie another year to recover from his fourth concussion in 21 months, but that's probably not much of a silver lining for a player who fought hard to make his 2012 debut on Sunday. Two months shy of his 27th birthday, Collie will be a free agent in the offseason. It's quite possible his Colts career is through. For 2012, it means Donnie Avery is now entrenched as Andrew Luck's No. 2 receiver, and that rookies T.Y. Hilton, Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen will be bigger parts of the game-plan going forward.

Mon Sep 24 201210:01Austin Collie headed for MRI on knee injury
Austin Collie will have a Monday MRI on his right knee.
Making his return from his latest concussion, Collie lasted just three quarters. Per the Indy Star, the knee injury "appeared serious" and he couldn't put any weight on his right leg. "That's just a terrible, terrible thing," coach Chuck Pagano said. Donnie Avery will resume every-down wideout duties while Collie is out.

Sun Sep 23 201215:03Austin Collie carted off in 1st game of year
Austin Collie was carted off the field with a knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 3 game against Jacksonville.
Collie was making his 2012 debut after missing Weeks 1-2 with a concussion. The extent of the injury is currently unknown, but players almost never return after being taken off on carts. Collie played sparingly off the bench Sunday, rotating with rookie T.Y. Hilton on the third receiver role behind Reggie Wayne and Donnie Avery. Collie had one catch for six yards.

Fri Sep 21 201214:51Austin Collie listed as probable
Austin Collie (concussion) is listed as probable for Week 3.
Collie participated in full practices Wednesday through Friday and it appears he's on track to be active for his first game of 2012. The Colts say he still needs the approval of a doctor to be met with on Saturday, however. We'd probably give Collie a week to prove his health before putting him in fantasy lineups.

Fri Sep 21 201212:57Collie looks good, needs doctors' clearance
Coach Chuck Pagano revealed that Austin Collie (concussion) will have to meet with doctors Saturday before gaining clearance to play versus the Jaguars.
Collie had a "good week" of full practices, but the Colts are taking extra precautions after he had a Thursday setback a week ago. If Collie does get the green light from doctors on Saturday, we tentatively expect him to resume starting over Donnie Avery opposite Reggie Wayne.

Thu Sep 20 201216:41Austin Collie gets in another full practice
Austin Collie (concussion) was a full participant in Colts practice for the second straight day Thursday.
Collie's "full" practice on Wednesday was hard to put stock in because he was also "full" last Wednesday, but it's extremely positive news he's gotten in full sessions on back-to-back days. Collie sat out last Thursday. Considering Collie's concussion history and coach Chuck Pagano's dicey reliability on injury information, it won't be wise to assume Collie is playing until inactives are released on Sunday morning, but things are trending in the right direction.
