Wed Apr 9 201415:05Ryan Broyles (Achilles') cleared for workouts
Ryan Broyles (Achilles') has been cleared to participate in offseason workouts.
If nothing else, Broyles has proven to be an extremely quick healer. He tore his Achilles' in late October. Broyles probably won't do much in voluntary workouts this week or at OTAs but could be ready to roll for training camp. The Lions can't rely on Broyles, but he'll have a shot to earn the No. 4 or 5 receiver job.

Tue Apr 1 201410:49Ryan Broyles to be given a 'clean slate'
Coach Jim Caldwell said Ryan Broyles (Achilles') will be given a "clean slate" under the new staff.
The same goes for Mikel Leshoure. Broyles tore an ACL in 2011, the other ACL in 2012, and his Achilles' last season. He obviously can't be relied upon to stay healthy but will be given another opportunity to showcase his skills this summer. Broyles hopes to be ready for the start of training camp but won't be any higher than No. 4 or 5 on the receiver depth chart.

Wed Mar 5 201412:55Ryan Broyles status remains murky
Lions GM Martin Mayhew was hesitant when asked if he can rely on Ryan Broyles (Achilles').
Broyles injury history should give the Lions plenty of pause. He's torn each of his ACLs and his Achilles' tendon in the last 2 1/2 years. Couple that with the release of Nate Burleson, and we have a team in desperate need of help for Calvin Johnson. Mayhew is fully expected to attack the wideout position in both free agency and the draft.

Sun Feb 16 201413:34Broyles (Achilles') resumes running & cutting
Lions WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') recently began "running, cutting, jumping," and rebuilding his left calf muscle.
Broyles tore his left ACL at Oklahoma, his right ACL as a rookie in 2012, and his left Achilles' tendon in October of last year. He began jogging two weeks ago and seems upbeat despite the latest hard-luck setback. "Every day I'm getting stronger," Broyles said. "I'm four months out and can't wait to see where I'll be 10 months out. Right now I'm happy with my progress." Lions.com believes there's a "real chance" Broyles will open 2014 on the PUP list.

Wed Dec 11 201309:39Broyles limited to range of motion exercises
Ryan Broyles (Achilles', injured reserve) remains limited to range of motion exercises.
Broyles is still in the infancy stages of his recovery and is no lock to be ready for Week 1 of 2014. And considering that he's previously tore both the right and left ACL in his knees, his NFL career is in jeopardy.

Sat Nov 23 201310:01Ryan Broyles not giving up on football career
Ryan Broyles (Achilles', injured reserve) vows to continue his playing career in 2014.
Broyles has torn his left ACL, right ACL, and left Achilles' over the past three seasons. "I've got great football left in me," he insists. "I'm 25 years old right now and I see receivers playing 'til they're 34. I just got to take it a day at a time. I've just got to heal up. I've got to get on the field when I'm 100 percent healthy. And I have not played one down in the NFL yet healthy." Broyles is just barely worth rostering in deep Dynasty leagues.

Wed Oct 30 201317:07Lions send Ryan Broyles (Achilles') to I.R.
Lions placed WR Ryan Broyles on injured reserve with a torn right Achilles' tendon, ending his season.
Broyles tore his Achilles' in last Sunday's win over the Cowboys. One of the unluckiest players in the league, Broyles tore his left ACL as a senior at Oklahoma, tore his right ACL as a rookie last season, and has now suffered yet another significant lower-limb injury. His career hangs in the balance. Broyles will likely start next season on the PUP list.

Mon Oct 28 201313:21Lions confirm Broyles done for year
The Lions confirmed Ryan Broyles has a torn right Achilles' tendon and will undergo surgery on Tuesday.
He'll be placed on injured reserve shortly. Kris Durham is now locked in as the Lions' No. 2 receiver, with Kevin Ogletree and Jeremy Ross behind him.

Sun Oct 27 201317:11Ryan Broyles diagnosed w/ ruptured Achilles'
According to Lions coach Jim Schwartz, Ryan Broyles' "initial" diagnosis is a ruptured right Achilles' tendon.
It's an absolutely brutal break for one of football's most unlucky players, and will not only end Broyles' season, but quite likely cloud his career. Broyles was already having significant difficulty getting back to 100 percent coming off his torn right ACL, and tore his left ACL his senior year of college. Three explosion-sapping injuries might be too much to overcome for a 5-foot-10 receiver. At the very least, we'd expect Broyles to begin 2014 on the PUP list, and quite possibly miss the entire season.

Sun Oct 27 201315:12Ryan Broyles leaves game w/ Achilles' issue
Lions WR Ryan Broyles was forced from Sunday's game against the Cowboys with a right Achilles' injury, and is questionable to return.
Broyles had to be helped off the field, and considering his injury history, is almost certainly done for the day. Targeted only twice before going down, Broyles had one catch for eight yards. He failed to make a play on a catchable ball on his second look.

Sun Oct 20 201317:49Broyles sees just four targets in Week 7 loss
Ryan Broyles caught just two passes for 16 yards in Week 7 against the Bengals.
Broyles was targeted just four times, finishing tied for fifth on the team in that department. He's not seeing the slot targets many figured he would in Nate Burleson's (broken arm) absence. Broyles is just a WR5 at the moment.

Sun Oct 13 201317:42Broyles held catchless against Browns
Ryan Broyles was held without a catch in Week 6 against the Browns.
He was only targeted twice in the passing game. Broyles doesn't have a defined role and is still working his way back into the Lions offense. He isn't being used as an every-snap player and rotated with Pat Edwards in three- and four-wide sets. Broyles is just a WR5 stash in fantasy leagues.

Thu Oct 10 201313:37Lions OC says Broyles ready for full workload
Speaking Thursday, Lions OC Scott Linehan declared Ryan Broyles ready for a "full workload."
Linehan stressed mid-October was the "plan all along" for Broyles to return to his normal role. Broyles has been limited to 87 snaps this season, including only 28 in the absence of Calvin Johnson last weekend. It's still unlikely Broyles is an every-snap player against the Browns. He can't be trusted as more than a WR5 until we actually see some results.

Wed Oct 9 201312:24Ryan Broyles insists health is not an issue
Ryan Broyles insists his health is not an issue.
Broyles has undergone surgery to repair the ACL in each of his knees over the last two years. But he says that has nothing to do with why he's totaled two catches for 27 yards over the last two weeks despite the injuries to Ryan Broyles and Calvin Johnson. "I feel good," Broyles said. "I feel capable of going out there and making plays. I feel like I want to do more, but whenever Coach calls my number, I'll do the best with it." The slot man isn't a fantasy option until he proves he's part of the gameplan.

Mon Oct 7 201310:30Ryan Broyles only played 29 snaps
Ryan Broyles only played on 29-of-68 snaps in Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Packers.
Even with Calvin Johnson (knee) inactive, Broyles played far fewer snaps than he did in Week 4. Patrick Edwards and Kris Durham were the Lions' wideouts in two-wide sets, leaving Broyles in his customary slot role. In the two games since Nate Burleson's injury, Broyles has totaled two catches for 27 yards on three targets.

Sun Oct 6 201312:36Ryan Broyles, Kris Durham listed as starters
The Lions have listed Ryan Broyles and Kris Durham as their starting wideouts for Sunday's Week 5 game against the Packers.
Calvin Johnson (knee) and Nate Burleson (arm) are both inactive. These "official" starting lineup cards sometimes go out the window once the games start, but this suggests Durham will be ahead of Pat Edwards in three-wide sets. The lineup card also lists two starting tight ends -- Brandon Pettigrew and Tony Scheffler. Expect the Lions to compensate for Megatron's absence by jacking up the passing-game usage of Pettigrew and Reggie Bush. Broyles should get peppered with targets, but he's hard to trust after seeing one target on 43 snaps a week ago.

Wed Sep 25 201310:11Lions won't put Broyles on a 'leash' Sunday
According to the Detroit News, "there will be no leash" on Ryan Broyles (knees) this week.
Broyles was on a pitch count in Week 3 as he made his season debut, seeing just 17 snaps. But with Nate Burleson (arm) out and Patrick Edwards (ankle) in doubt, the Lions can't afford any kind of snap limitations against the Bears Sunday. Barring any setbacks, Broyles is going to play in all three-wide sets as the slot receiver -- giving him plenty of PPR upside. "I am definitely ready. I feel good," he said.

Tue Sep 24 201315:10Ryan Broyles says he's ready for bigger role
Ryan Broyles (knee soreness) says he's ready for a bigger role in the wake of Nate Burleson's (broken arm) injury.
Ready or not, Broyles is getting an increased role, so it's good he at least thinks he's ready. Broyles has played just 17 snaps through the Lions' first three games, but should see somewhere between 30-40 in Week 4. Broyles plays the slot. He's on the PPR radar.
