Thu Jun 13 201316:19Prince Amukamara's 'skill set much improved'
Giants DC Perry Fewell says third-year CB Prince Amukamara's "skill set is much improved."
It's the first time in Amukamara's career that he has been a full participant in OTAs and minicamp. He missed his first offseason due to the lockout, and he then battled an array of injuries last spring. Amukamara now has lofty goals for himself. "I really want to be the No. 1 corner on this team," he said. "As soon as I establish myself as the No. 1 corner [on the team], then hopefully just become the No. 1 corner in the whole league." Amukamara is locked into the starting right corner spot opposite Corey Webster.

Thu Dec 27 201221:27Amukamara suffers setback to injured hammy
Giants CB Prince Amukamara re-injured his hamstring in last Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Ravens.
Amukamara originally suffered the injury in Week 14 against the Saints, and it forced him to miss one game. He went into the Baltimore game sore, but said he was good enough to go. Amukamara felt the hamstring "grab" while attempting to cover Torrey Smith on a go route, and an MRI on Monday revealed that the injury extended further down his leg. The 2011 first-round pick is not expected to play this week after being a "DNP" in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Amukamara has played in just 19 of a possible 31 regular season games in his two seasons.

Mon Dec 10 201213:49Amukamara has strained hamstring
Giants CB Prince Amukamara has been diagnosed with a strained hamstring.
Amukamara's removal from Sunday's blowout win over the Saints was initially deemed precautionary, but coach Tom Coughlin was vague on his status at Monday's presser. "He's being treated. We'll just have to see the severity of it." The 2011 first-round pick has held his own as a first-year starter this season, but hasn't been an impact player. Jayron Hosley would likely start opposite Corey Webster if Amukamara can't go against the Falcons.

Sun Dec 9 201219:29Prince Amukamara leaves with hammy issue
Giants CB Prince Amukamara was forced from New York's Week 14 game against the Saints with a hamstring injury.
Amukamara was deemed "questionable" to return when he departed mid-way through the second half, but wasn't seen again down the stretch of a blowout. It's possible his absence was purely precautionary. Amukamara's status should be updated at Monday's presser.

Mon Oct 1 201213:47Prince Amukamara hold Maclin to 0 catches
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara limited Jeremy Maclin to zero catches in Amukamara's first NFL start in Week 4.
Although Maclin was coming off a hip injury, the oft-ailing Giants 2011 first-round pick had his number on Sunday Night Football. Amukamara appeared to aggravate his own ankle injury at one point in the game, but returned and should be fine moving forward. Look for Amukamara to be the new staple at right cornerback.

Sat Sep 29 201219:40Amukamara making first start on Sunday Night
Prince Amukamara will make his first NFL start Sunday against the Eagles.
Jayron Hosley (hamstring) started last week, but was injured in the first quarter, and has been downgraded to out for Week 4. The Giants' secondary will be without Hosley and Keith Rivers (hamstring) for Sunday Night Football. Antrel Rolle (knee) and Michael Coe (hamstring) are listed as questionable.

Wed Sep 19 201212:52Prince Amukamara listed as probable
Prince Amukamara (ankle) is officially listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Panthers.
Amukamara will give a much-needed talent-infusion to a shaky Giants secondary. In two games without him, they've given up 518 passing yards and five touchdowns through the air. He could match up with Brandon LaFell if the Giants use Corey Webster to shadow Steve Smith.

Tue Sep 18 201220:53Amukamara 'very optimistic' about status
Giants CB Prince Amukamara (ankle) is "very optimistic" he'll be ready for Thursday's game with the Panthers.
"I've been preparing like I'm going to play this week," Amukamara said. "I've been in meetings and I've been in the lineup so those are all good signs from me." Amukamara will likely be a game-time decision, and may not be ready to start even if he's active.

Sat Sep 15 201221:27Amukamara expected to play on Sunday
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara (questionable, ankle) is expected to play in Week 2 against the Bucs.
Amukamara returned to practice on Monday but was limited for much of the week. The 2011 first-round pick suffered a high ankle sprain just over three weeks ago, so it's a quick return for an injury of that nature. Reserve corners Michael Coe and Justin Tryon were targeted heavily by Tony Romo in Week 1. Amukamara will be seeing a lot of Vincent Jackson on Sunday.

Mon Sep 10 201210:51Prince Amukamara practices Monday
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara (high-ankle sprain) returned to practice on Monday.
Per the New York Daily News, Amukamara "appeared to be running with no limitations." It's excellent news for the Giants, but what Amukamara does in Wednesday's first official practice of the week will be far more telling as to his Week 2 status. The 2011 first-rounder is still only a little over two weeks removed from going down, and high-ankle sprains can often take over a month to return from.

Fri Sep 7 201212:22Amukamara has yet to run on his ankle
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara has yet to run on his high-ankle sprain.
"I know that I can't rush it," Amukamara said. "If there was a magic pill to take to be healed, I would." Offenses will continue to exploit low-level replacements Michael Coe and Justin Tryon until Amukamara is ready for game action.

Thu Aug 30 201215:22Giants CB Amukamara aiming for Week 2
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara (ankle) is aiming for a return in Week 2.
Amukamara's swelling is down and he's discarded his protective boot. Although he's yet to begin running, Amukamara says the ankle "feels a lot better than it did last week." Rookie CB Jayron Hosley (turf toe) is confident that he will be ready for the season opener.

Sat Aug 25 201210:44Amukamara's high-ankle sprain 'mild'
The Giants are classifying RCB Prince Amukamara's injury as a "mild" high-ankle sprain.
"That's what he told me," coach Tom Coughlin said. "I don't like that term, `high ankle,' but if it's a mild sprain perhaps it's not going to take as much time to get him back." The only word that matters in Amukamara's ankle-sprain diagnosis is "high," but perhaps his injury won't linger for over a month like many high-ankle sprains can. Amukamara is highly unlikely to suit up in Week 1.

Fri Aug 24 201221:51Giants CB Amukamara has high-ankle sprain
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara has been diagnosed with a right high-ankle sprain.
The word comes via the CBS telecast. It's a minor victory that Amukamara has avoided a break, but high-ankle sprains can often linger for more than a month. Amukamara is now extremely doubtful to be ready for Opening Night on September 5, meaning the G-Men will be forced to turn to Bruce Johnson or Michael Coe opposite Corey Webster as they wait for a timetable on Terrell Thomas (knee). Amukamara, who was limited to seven games by a foot injury as a rookie, went down untouched on a first-quarter tackle of Brandon Marshall.

Fri Aug 24 201220:38Giants' Amukamara carted off with leg injury
Giants CB Prince Amukamara was forced from Friday's game against the Bears with a lower right leg injury.
He was carted off. X-rays were negative, and Amukamara's return is supposedly questionable. It's possible he'll undergo further testing, but the Giants appear to have dodged a bullet. It was initially unclear what Amukamara injured on an extremely standard tackle of Bears WR Brandon Marshall. Amukamara was plagued by his left foot as a rookie. With Terrell Thomas out indefinitely with an ACL injury, cornerback is again a question mark for the G-Men. Bruce Johnson subbed in for Amukamara and was promptly burned on a Marshall touchdown.

Fri Aug 24 201213:59Prince Amukamara solidifies starting job
Giants CB Prince Amukamara has "solidified" the starting job opposite Corey Webster.
Teammates have noticed improved confidence and performance out of last year's first-round pick, and Amukamara will open the season primarily playing right corner, where Terrell Thomas would have started had he not gotten injured. Webster mainly plays left cornerback. SS Antrel Rolle is expected to cover the slot on passing downs, though rookie Jayron Hosley can make a run at that job.

Mon Jul 30 201220:58Amukamara would likely replace Thomas
Giants CB Prince Amukamara is the leading candidate to replace Terrell Thomas in the starting lineup should Thomas miss an extended period of time.
It's believed that Thomas has, at least, a partially torn ACL, which could cost him the entire 2012 season. Amukamara, the team's first-round pick a season ago, played sparingly as a rookie while dealing with a troublesome left foot. Justin Tryon and third-round pick Jayron Hosley also figure to be in the mix.

Sat Jun 16 201214:51Amukamara 'out there competing' in camp
Giants CB Prince Amukamara (foot surgery) was "out there competing" in minicamp.
"They are letting him (go) up to a point," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He is doing a good job. Hopefully he is going to continue." Barring a setback, Amukamara should be ready for camp. He'll open the year as the Giants' No. 3 cornerback.

Tue May 29 201213:49Amukamara resumes running on grass
Giants CB Prince Amukamara ran on grass Tuesday for the first time since taking an injection procedure to aid the healing process in his surgically repaired left foot.
"It feels great," Amukamara said. "They just told me do some little stuff, run some sprints, do the figure eight to see if I felt any tenderness but I didn't." Last year's first-rounder is expected to be ready for training camp after his rookie season was a wash.
