Mon Sep 1 201414:29Moore expected to be ready for Sunday's game against Browns
Moore, who sat out the Steelers' preseason finale against the Panthers with an unspecified minor injury, is expected to be ready for Sunday's game against the Browns, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
We'll track Moore's practice participation in the coming days, but assuming his health, he is in line to see slot duties in the Pittsburgh offense out of the gate.

Moore (unspecified issue) was scratched for Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
With Moore sidelined, Justin Brown started in the Steelers' three-receiver formation on offense, along with Markus Wheaton and Antonio Brown. Assuming the issue that kept him out of Thursday's contest is not a major one, Moore is on track to work primarily out of the slot in the Steelers' offense.

Moore had no catches on one target in Saturday's preseason opener against the Giants.
Moore's lone target came in the red zone, which doesn't figure to be his area of expertise this season. There's been some talk that Moore needs to hold off Justin Brown for the third spot on the depth chart, but it's also possible that the former Saint will push Markus Wheaton for the No. 2 slotting. It's hard to imagine Moore actually falling to fourth on the depth chart.
Tue Jun 24 201418:54Lance Moore stood out during OTAs, minicamp
ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown says Lance Moore "stood out as much as any player" during offseason practices.
Moore has proven to a quick study in Todd Haley's scheme, which isn't surprising for a savvy eight-year veteran. We're still skeptical he'll be effective in replacing Jerricho Cotchery. The 5'9/182 Moore won't have the same red-zone impact as the 6'1/200 Cotchery, and had separation issues in his age-30 season in New Orleans. We'd rather take a flier on likely starting "X" Markus Wheaton.

Fri Mar 21 201415:45Steelers sign Lance Moore to 2-year contract
Steelers signed WR Lance Moore to a two-year contract.
Moore, who turns 31 before the season, played behind rookie Kenny Stills in New Orleans last year, recording a 37-457-2 stat line across 13 appearances. He generally looked to be running out of gas, and was released by the Saints in early March. Moore had a few nice seasons with Drew Brees, but is a 5-foot-9, 182-pound possession receiver who won't cure Pittsburgh's red-zone woes. Moore is an uninspiring option to replace Jerricho Cotchery.

Thu Mar 20 201412:23Lance Moore also leaves PIT without deal
Free agent Lance Moore's visit with the Steelers ended without a contract.
Moore is considered a fallback option for the Steelers if they can't retain free agent Jerricho Cotchery. Right now, Cotchery is reportedly leaning toward the Panthers.

Tue Mar 18 201410:05Patriots have 'checked out' FA Lance Moore
The Boston Globe reports the Patriots have "checked out" free agent Lance Moore.
New England is also sniffing around Jason Avant and Kenny Britt, even after re-upping Julian Edelman and signing Brandon LaFell. Moore will visit the Steelers on Tuesday, his first trip since being released by the Saints two weeks ago. He's a sure pair of hands but has little-to-no playmaking ability at 30 years old.

Sun Mar 16 201419:52Steelers to host Lance Moore
The Steelers will host free agent Lance Moore on Tuesday.
It'll be Moore's first visit of free agency. He's a possible fallback option if the Steelers miss out on re-signing Jerricho Cotchery, who is visiting the Panthers on Monday. Moore, 30, is a limited-talent possession receiver.

Fri Mar 7 201411:33Saints release WR Lance Moore, clear $2.53M
Saints released WR Lance Moore.
Moore hinted at his release Friday morning. The Saints tried to trade him, but nobody was willing to take on his $3.6 million. New Orleans saves over $2.531 million against the cap with the move but eats over $2.537 million in dead money. Moore was the longest-tenured Saints prior to his release. At 31 (in August) and a product of Drew Brees and Sean Payton, we don't anticipate a hot market.

Thu Mar 6 201416:11Report: Saints 'shopping' aging WR Moore
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Saints are "shopping" Lance Moore.
Moore is coming off a brutal season, and will turn 31 before Week 1. Cutting him would create $2.5 million in cap space, but also $2.5 million in dead money. Moving on from Moore would leave the Saints low on veteran receiver depth behind Marques Colston.

Sat Feb 15 201415:42Saints could keep WR Moore at reduced salary
ESPN.com's Mike Triplett could see the Saints keeping Lance Moore and returning him to a more prominent role in 2014.
Moore is scheduled to count $5.1 million against the salary cap and would likely need to take a pay cut to return. He played on less than 50 percent of offensive snaps this past season, posting just a 37/457/2 line and missing three games due to injury. Releasing Moore would free up $2.53 million in cap savings, but leave the Saints with $2.54 million in dead money.

Tue Jan 21 201409:46Saints could consider releasing Lance Moore
The New Orleans Times-Picayune admits Lance Moore's future with the Saints is in question.
Moore, 30 next August, is scheduled to count $5.1 million against the 2014 salary cap. That's far too high after he posted just 457 yards and battled injuries this past season. Moore saw his role reduced considerably, as Kenny Stills emerged as a bigger playmaker at receiver. His salary isn't guaranteed.

Mon Jan 13 201409:27Lance Moore set to cost $5.1M against cap
Lance Moore is scheduled to cost $5.1 million against the 2014 salary cap.
As beat writer Mike Triplett notes, it's an awfully high number for a 30-year-old who was a part-time player in his eighth season with the Saints. Moore set four-year lows in catches (37), yards (457) and touchdowns (2) while losing snaps to Kenny Stills. Expect a renegotiation that includes a pay cut on his $3.1 million 2014 base salary. The Saints are reportedly $12.5 million over the projected cap and still have to do a deal with free agent Jimmy Graham.

Sat Jan 11 201420:41Lance Moore has two-catch day in loss
Lance Moore caught two passes for 20 yards in New Orleans' Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks.
It was a fittingly quiet capper for Moore, who managed just 37 catches for 457 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games this season. All three totals were his fewest since an injury-marred 2009. Going on 31, Moore is due a non-guaranteed $3.1 million in 2014. He's a candidate for a pay-cut.

Sun Jan 5 201401:02Lance Moore gets big TD in win at PHL
Lance Moore caught two passes for 31 yards with a touchdown in Saturday's Wild Card win at Philadelphia.
Moore gave the Saints a 13-7 lead early in the third quarter as he found a hole in the backside of the Eagles' zone. Drew Brees came off his first few reads and hit his reliable veteran who waltzed in for the 24-yard score. Otherwise, it was another quiet game for Moore, who averaged just 2.8 catches for 35.1 yards with two touchdowns on the season. When the Saints played at Seattle in Week 13, Moore had two catches for 12 yards.

Sun Dec 29 201322:01Lance Moore secures long TD in victory
Lance Moore caught four passes for 73 yards and one touchdown in Week 17 against the Bucs.
Moore was targeted five times on the day and beat Leonard Johnson for a 44-yard touchdown to open up the scoring in the first quarter. It was Moore's longest reception of the season. He wraps up the season with 37 catches for 457 yards and two touchdowns while serving as the Saints' "No. 2 receiver." Though Moore gets that label, he's nothing more than the fourth or fifth option in the passing game. Moore and the Saints take on the winners of the NFC East next Saturday night.

Sat Dec 28 201315:06Lance Moore could be released in offseason
ESPN Saints blogger Mike Triplett believes Lance Moore could be a candidate for offseason release.
Moore has played a limited role in the Saints' offense this season, struggling with both injuries and effectiveness. He enters Week 17 with just 33 catches for 384 yards and one touchdown, missing three games due to injury. With a $3.8 million cap number for 2014, Moore could be asked to take a pay cut at the very least. He's no higher than the No. 4 option in the passing game and is entering the declining stage of his career.

Sun Dec 22 201318:06Lance Moore catches three passes in loss
Lance Moore caught three passes for 47 yards in New Orleans' Week 16 loss to the Panthers.
Moore has been a bigger part of the Saints' offense over the past three weeks, but still enters Week 17 with just 33 catches for 384 yards. He's having his worst season since 2007.

Sun Dec 15 201321:36Lance Moore has best game of 2013 in loss
Lance Moore caught six passes for 78 yards in Week 15 at St. Louis.
Moore was targeted seven times. He was left wide open for a 30-yard gain late in the fourth quarter and also had a touchdown wiped off the board due to a penalty against LT Charles Brown, who was eventually benched. The 78 yards for Moore is a new season-high. He's nothing more than a WR4/5. The Saints travel to Carolina next week.
