Wed Jul 17 201308:26Walter Thurmond III impressed during spring
CB Walter Thurmond III was reportedly one of the Seahawks' most impressive players during spring workouts.
Thurmond has appeared in just eight games over the last two years due to a broken leg and subsequent complications. Now healthy, beat writer Danny O'Neil says Seahawks coaches were "scrambling for ways to get him involved." Thurmond has the inside track on the No. 4 corner job, forming an impressive quartet with Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner and Antoine Winfield.

Wed Jun 5 201318:42Pete Carroll praises Walter Thurmond III
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll believes fourth-year CB Walter Thurmond III is finally over the injury hump.
A severely broken leg helped limit Thurmond to just eight combined games the past two seasons. "He has been in a situation where he's kind of had to hold back a little bit for a long time and he's really able to go for it now," Carroll said. "He's got extraordinary quickness. He's a playmaker and he's fighting to play a bunch, not just to be around here." Thurmond will open the season no higher than fourth on the depth chart, and possibly lower.

Thurmond hinted on his Twitter account that the injury could also keep him sidelined during the playoffs. "He's still feeling (discomfort) and that's not a good sign for this week obviously, and it's going to be hard for him to get back next week too I would think," said coach Pete Carroll. With Brandon Browner suspended for one more game, Jeremy Lane will again get the start opposite Richard Sherman in Sunday's finale.

Seahawks CB Walter Thurmond (broken fibula, PUP) returned to practice on Monday.
Thurmond re-fractured his leg back in April while he was working his way back, so that explains the delay in his return. Seattle will have three weeks to make a decision on him, or he'll revert to injured reserve. Thurmond was a 2010 fourth-round pick out of Oregon.

Mon Jun 4 201209:49Seahawks 'really are counting' on Thurmond
Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley insists the Seahawks "really are counting" on CB Walter Thurmond III (leg surgery) this season.
Thurmond was limited to six games by a broken leg last season, and suffered a setback that has him iffy for camp. He was using a "wheeled scooter" to get around OTAs last month. If Thurmond can avoid the PUP list to begin the season, he could split time with Marcus Trufant in the slot.
