Thu Sep 24 201511:42McCoy (hamstring) participating in Thursday's practice
McCoy (hamstring) is participating in Thursday's practice, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
This is a good sign that McCoy's hamstring didn't suffer a setback during the Week 2 loss to the Patriots. McCoy missed Wednesday's practice, but we wouldn't be surprised if weekly rest is a regular occurrence until he's completely out of the woods.
Wed Sep 23 201512:30McCoy (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday
McCoy (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
Given that McCoy has been playing through a hamstring issue, his absence from practice is not particularly surprising, with the Bills relaying that the running back is slated to do some conditioning work Wednesday in preparation for Sunday's contest against the Dolphins.

McCoy (hamstring) rushed 15 times for 89 yards and had three catches on three targets for 27 receiving yards Sunday against the Patriots.
McCoy was expected to be a bit limited due to his hamstring injury, but backup Karlos Williams finished with only six carries for 21 yards, though he was able to score a touchdown. McCoy is likely to continue to be limited during practice with the hope that he will be as healthy as possible for game days, so while he could continue to be listed as questionable on the injury report, the Bills will likely keep rolling him out there. Up next is a Week 3 matchup against a Dolphins team that improved its defensive front in the offseason.
Sun Sep 20 201511:39LeSean McCoy: Active Sunday
McCoy (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
McCoy will give it a go Sunday as long as his hamstring holds up, though NFL.com suggests that the running back may not operating at quite 100 percent, so there is a chance that he could "be used more situationally than usual" against the Patriots. In such a scenario, Karlos Williams and Anthony Dixon could see their share of snaps in the Bills' Week 2 ground game.

Though the Bills list the running back as questionable, ESPN's Adam Schefter suggests that McCoy (hamstring) is in line to play Sunday against the Patriots.
Such an outcome precludes any pre-game setbacks of course, so those considering McCoy this week are still advised to verify his status in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff.
Sat Sep 19 201521:42McCoy (hamstring) expected to pilay Sunday
McCoy (hamstring) is expected to pilay Sunday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, Pro Football Talk reports.
McCoy is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, so the hamstring is still an issue. It's prudent to check in just before the 1:00pm kickoff to confirm McCoy's availability.
Fri Sep 18 201514:11LeSean McCoy: Questionable for Week 2
McCoy (hamstring), who was limited in practice Friday, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, coach Rex Ryan said he's "cautiously optimistic" that McCoy will be available for Sunday's contest, but after the running back was pulled from practice on Thursday, his status clearly became something to monitor closely in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff. If McCoy is limited Sunday, or even scratched, Karlos Williams would be next in line for the Bills' Week 2 carries. For his part, Williams suggested after Friday's practice that McCoy is "gonna be able to go," but such an outcome is something that may not be solidified until Sunday morning.
Fri Sep 18 201511:09LeSean McCoy: (Hamstring) Practices Friday
McCoy (hamstring) suited up and took the field for Friday's practice, ESPN.com reports.
It's not clear how much work McCoy was able to get in Friday, but it's a good sign that he was in uniform after leaving Thursday's practice with tightness in his hamstring. The Bills will provide an update on his status once Friday's practice concludes.

Bills running back coach Anthony Lynn seemed to indicated McCoy (hamstring) will be able to play this week against the Patriots, Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News reports. Said Lynn, "When we get him going, we know what he can do. ... It's still a little sore, but he'll be fine."
Lynn also said they may have pushed McCoy too hard in the first week following several weeks on the shelf. We'll see how things shake out for McCoy during Friday's practice, but the best bet for now seems to be that he'll play, but the Bills will spell him frequently with rookie Karlos Williams.
Thu Sep 17 201515:55LeSean McCoy: (Hamstring) Pulled From Thursday's Practice
McCoy, who was not listed on Wednesday's initial injury report, was pulled from Thursday's practice after he experienced tightness in his hamstring, ESPN.com reports.
What McCoy is able to do at practice Friday should be telling with regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots, but Thursday's news puts the running back's health back on the radar of situations to monitor heading into the weekend. "Do I expect him to play?" coach Rex Ryan said of McCoy. "I certainly hope so." If McCoy is limited (or scratched) Sunday, Karlos Williams would presumably be the next man up in the Bills' backfield.

McCoy was limited in Thursday's practice due to a hamstring that was tight and sore.
Coach Rex Ryan remains confident his bell cow back will be fine for Sunday's big game against the Patriots, though the hammy remains a concern for McCoy after it sidelined him for most of the preseason. Once McCoy starts taking more game hits, it's possible he could receive regular rest during the weekly practice schedule.

McCoy recorded 41 rushing yards on 17 carries and added 46 receiving yards on three catches in Sunday's win over the Colts.
McCoy came into the game with questions about his health, so his owners will be happy to see that he made it out of the contest unscathed. Buffalo's two rushing touchdowns in this one were scored by Karlos Williams and Boobie Dixon, but the lack of scoring shouldn't be viewed as a long-term problem unless McCoy is still getting his goal-line carries vultured when he returns to full speed. Shady's 2.4 yards per carry were unimpressive, but he should continue to trend up as he gets healthier, and owners can rest easy knowing head coach Rex Ryan is never one to shy away from running the football.

McCoy (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Colts.
As expected, with NFL Network's Albert Breer having previously suggested that the Bills plan to give McCoy the bulk of the team's work at running back in his regular season debut with Buffalo. With that in mind, such an outcome transpiring precludes any in-game setbacks and hinges on McCoy's hamstring responding well to game action as Sunday's tilt rolls along.

NFL Network's Albert Breer suggests that the Bills plan to give McCoy (hamstring) the bulk of the team's work at running back in his regular season debut with the team on Sunday against the Colts.
With regard to McCoy's potential level of Week 1 involvement, Breer suggests that the running back is looking at seeing "maybe not a full load, but close." Such an outcome of course precludes any in-game setbacks, but it is a plausible scenario, assuming McCoy's hamstring responds well to game action as Sunday's contest progresses.

McCoy (hamstring) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Colts.
McCoy stayed on his timetable following a hamstring scare that could have been a lot worse, and he'll be ready to roll for Week 1. It would make sense if the Bills make him a major part of the game plan this week in an effort to keep Andrew Luck and crew off the field.
Thu Sep 10 201515:48McCoy (hamstring) practiced fully again on Thursday
McCoy (hamstring) practiced fully again on Thursday.
While it remains to be seen how close to 100 percent McCoy will be out of the gate this season, he is trending toward a probable designation and subsequent active status in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff against the Colts.
Wed Sep 9 201515:38Though McCoy (hamstring) listed as full practice participant Wed...
Though McCoy (hamstring) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday, he noted afterward that he might not be 100 percent healthy for the Bills' regular-season opener against the Colts on Sunday, ESPN.com reports. "I feel good," McCoy said Wednesday. "I feel like the medical staff has done a good job of preparing me so far. And then practicing, I've just been doing light loads, each day doing more and more. I feel comfortable. I'm not sure if I'll be exactly 100 percent, but I feel good enough to go out there and compete."
At this stage, McCoy is poised to play in Sunday's contest, barring any setbacks, with the prime question yet to be answered being whether or not he will be on any sort of "pitch count" in terms of carries in Week 1. In any case, fellow running backs Karlos Williams, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown are not listed on Wednesday's practice participation/injury report, meaning that the Bills' backfield is in pretty good shape health-wise overall in advance of Week 1.
Wed Sep 9 201511:08LeSean McCoy: (Hamstring) Expected To Play In Opener
McCoy (hamstring) is a full participant at Wednesday's practice and is expected to play in the season opener against the Colts on Sunday, according to coach Rex Ryan.
McCoy has struggled through preseason with an ongoing hamstring issue but it appears that he'll return to health just in time for when it matters. Barring a setback over the next few days, fellow running backs Karlos Williams and Anthony Dixon will slot into a limited role in relief of McCoy on Sunday.
Tue Sep 8 201511:28LeSean McCoy: (Hamstring) Takes The Field Tuesday
McCoy (hamstring) took part in individual drills during Tuesday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW reports.
It's not clear how much McCoy was able to do beyond that, but it's a good sign that he was able to get out on the field Tuesday. The Bills are hopeful that McCoy will be ready to go for Week 1, but his participation, or lack thereof, in practice over the next few days will likely determine his fate.

McCoy (left hamstring) -- who had indicated in a text to ESPN's Josina Anderson earlier Friday that he expected to be ready for Week 1 -- later backed off some on that stance, per ESPN.com. Specifically, when asked about his status for the Bills' Sept. 13 game against the Colts, McCoy -- who practiced in a limited fashion Friday -- said "we'll wait and see."
For his part, coach Rex Ryan reiterated on the matter, "I'm hoping that he will be available to us. And I think the only thing I mentioned was 'cautiously optimistic,' and I remain optimistic." In any case, there remains a possibility that if McCoy is able to play in Week 1, he could be on a pitch count, given that at this stage he still isn't doing too much running or cutting at practice. Considering the way the Jets designated injuries under Ryan, a highly plausible outcome is that McCoy approaches the Bills' 9/13 1:00 ET kickoff with an official "questionable" tag on the team's final Week 1 injury report.
