Cowboys placed CB Orlando Scandrick (hand) on season-ending injured reserve.
Scandrick broke his hand on Thanksgiving Day against the Redskins and was given a 6-8 week timetable for return. He would have only been available if the Cowboys made a deep playoff run. NT Rob Callaway was signed from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Wed Nov 28 201218:21Orlando Scandrick (hand) out 6-8 weeks
Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick (hand) will be sidelined 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery on Wednesday.
The Cowboys' slot corner is also dealing with a bone bruise and sprained ligaments in his wrist. His only shot at returning in 2012-13 will be a deep playoff run from Big D. Don't count on it. Scandrick is signed through 2016.

Thu Nov 22 201220:46Orlando Scandrick fractures hand in loss
Cowboys slot CB Orlando Scandrick suffered a fractured hand in Dallas' Thanksgiving Day loss to Washington.
He'll likely either miss the remainder of the season, or try to return to play with a cast on his hand. As a slot cornerback, Scandrick doesn't necessarily need to use his fingers. We'll have another update on him by early next week.

Mon May 28 201221:48Orlando Scandrick not moving to safety
Cowboys slot CB Orlando Scandrick says he is unwilling to move to safety to accommodate Mike Jenkins.
"Not happening," Scandrick said. In an apparent attempt to create trade leverage, the Cowboys are saying publicly that they'll find ways to get four corners onto the field consistently. More likely, Scandrick will return as Dallas' slot corner between RCB Morris Claiborne and LCB Brandon Carr. And Jenkins will either be traded or stay on the roster as a dime cornerback.

Tue Mar 13 201215:47Cowboys restructure CB Scandrick, RT Free
Cowboys restructured the contracts of CB Orlando Scandrick and RT Doug Free to create $8.56 million in salary cap space.
Along with the releases of Terrence Newman and David Buehler, the Cowboys have freed up $15.82 million following Monday's cap hit from the league office. Scandrick will take $5.9 million of his $7.1 million salary in the form of a signing bonus. Free's base salary dropped from $6 million to $1.2 million, with the difference coming in a signing bonus.

Sat Feb 25 201212:37Jones 'no regrets' about Scandrick extension
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he has "no regrets" over signing CB Orlando Scandrick to a five-year, $27 million extension last summer.
"Wouldn't dare go back there again and try to do better with a different player or different money," Jones said. "We think that much of him. He's that important to us for our future." A slot corner being paid like a starter last season, Scandrick struggled mightily when asked to play outside. Rotoworld called Scandrick's extension a "head scratcher" in August.

Mon Sep 12 201108:37Orlando Scandrick to miss 3-4 weeks
Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick will miss 3-4 weeks after suffering an ankle injury against the Jets Sunday night.
Owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Scandrick suffered the dreaded high ankle sprain. It's the kind of injury that can linger for the season if the No. 3 corner rushes back too soon. The good news for the Cowboys is that their banged up secondary gets to face the 49ers' inept passing game in Week 2.

Mon Sep 12 201101:35Scandrick (ankle) in walking boot
Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick had his injured ankle in a walking boot following Sunday's loss to the Jets.
A timetable for his return won't be available until Monday, but he doesn't sound like someone who is going to be active in Week 2. If both Scandrick and Terence Newman (groin) are out next weekend, Alan Ball would most likely start opposite Mike Jenkins.

Sun Sep 11 201121:23Scandrick carted to the locker room
Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick was carted to the locker room with an ankle injury in Sunday night's game.
He was replaced by Alan Ball. Scandrick was filling in for an injured Terrence Newman, so the news is hardly ideal for a Cowboys secondary that's also dealing with a banged up (but active) Mike Jenkins. If Mark Sanchez can get some time to throw, it's going to be a big night for Santonio Holmes.

Wed Aug 24 201119:26Cowboys lock up nickel CB Scandrick for $27M
Cowboys signed CB Orlando Scandrick to a five-year, $27 million extension with $10 million guaranteed.
It's a head scratcher. Scandrick is a physical slot corner and big part of Dallas' defense, but he's being paid like a starter. The 24-year-old has just two interceptions through three seasons, is a liability whenever asked to play outside, and is hardly a shutdown force in the slot. New coordinator Rob Ryan must have signed off on this deal, or else it wouldn't be near worth it. Scandrick is not a long-term option to replace Terence Newman.

Mon Jun 13 201110:29Scandrick was burned in 2010
Slot corner Orlando Scandrick had the second worst success rate in the NFL at defending the pass in 2010, according to Pro Football Focus.
Colts CB Jerraud Powers had the worst rate. Scandrick deserves some slack as he was often playing zone on third downs, but he's not even close to the answer to the Cowboys' secondary woes. Scandrick would best be used as a pass rusher out of the secondary.

Thu Dec 9 201009:23Scandrick appears to be OK
Cowboys interim coach Jason Garrett said "everything has been positive" on CB Orlando Scandrick (concussion).
Scandrick, who suffered a concussion in Week 13, underwent a neurological exam Tuesday. It sounds like he should be able to suit up this weekend and resume his duties as the nickel back.

Sun Dec 5 201017:59Orlando Scandrick gets concussed in Week 13
Orlando Scandrick left Sunday's Week 13 game with a concussion and will not return.

Sat Nov 13 201012:15Orlando Scandrick's No. 3 job is safe for now
Cowboys No. 3 CB Orlando Scandrick's job remains safe for the time being, according to beat writer Todd Archer.
Bryan McCann would be the next in line to try his hand at cornerback. Upgrade any wide receiver scheduled to face the Cowboys, regardless of what personnel Dallas has on the field. They're currently allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing wideouts.

Fri Aug 27 201011:33Scandrick damages cartilage in his nose
Cowboys No. 3 CB Orlando Scandrick damaged cartilage in his nose during Thursday's practice.
The extent of Scandrick's injury is unknown, but it's unlikely he'll be out more than a few days. Rookie safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah stepped in as the first-team nickel corner after Scandrick left.

Wed Jul 21 201015:57Orlando Scandrick says he's healing nicely
Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick says his finger is "healing nicely" after shattering it during OTAs.
Scandrick will be 100 percent well before Opening Day, but his status for the first few weeks of training camp are unclear. The Cowboys are not deep at cornerback and need a big year from Scandrick after his disappointing 2009.

Wed May 26 201020:51Cowboys lose Scandrick for 4-8 weeks
Cowboys nickel back Orlando Scandrick is out 4-8 weeks after shattering his left index finger during OTA practices.
While he should be healthy sometime around the start of training camp, this gives Cletis Gordon and rookie Jamar Wall a chance to step up. Scandrick was Dallas' weakest defensive back last year, including Ken Hamlin, and intercepted just one pass in 640 snaps. He shouldn't be guaranteed the nickel job.
