Ratliff suffered a concussion in Sunday's win over the 49ers and did not return.
He finished with two tackles before departing. Ratliff will remain under the league's concussion protocol over the next week of practice, but if he's unable to go in Week 3, either Ego Ferguson or Will Sutton would likely replace him in the lineup.
Mon Sep 8 201421:12Ratliff gathered five tackles in Sunday's loss to Bills
Ratliff gathered five tackles in Sunday's loss to the Bills.
Ratliff's tackle total was tops among the team's defensive linemen, who turned in an overall disappointing outing on the afternoon. If Week 1 offered any indication, run defense is still a major issue of the Bears, which could lead to some personnel changes if it persists. Ratliff won't assume much of the blame for Sunday's showing, but he'll need to keep racking up the stops if he hopes to hold off rookies Will Sutton and Ego Ferguson for a starting job on the inside.

Fri Nov 8 201321:19Jay Ratliff wants to be called Jeremiah
Bears DT Jay Ratliff is now asking people to call him "Jeremiah."
This is apparently Ratliff's attempt to turn over a new leaf after he flamed out in Dallas. The Bears signed Ratliff to a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with small incentives. They are desperate enough on the defensive line that he'll likely get a chance to start before the season is up.
