Nance is a pedestrian runner, but knows how to pass protect, can play on third downs, and contributes on special teams. The Falcons want to increase their no-huddle usage under new OC Dirk Koetter. Nance will push for a roster spot.

Dimitri Nance rushed nine times for 32 yards against the Giants in Week 16.
The Packers stayed true to their committee attack with Nance, Brandon Jackson, and John Kuhn all seeing at least six carries. Nance showed little wiggle, simply pounding his way into heavy traffic with a long run of just six yards. He's not a fantasy option in Week 17.
Thu Dec 2 201012:35Nance returns to practice Thursday
Packers RB Dimitri Nance (concussion) returned to practice Thursday.
We assume that means he's passed his concussion tests. Assuming he has no setbacks, Nance should return to being the Packers' goal-line back this week, with John Kuhn sticking at fullback. It appears James Starks will be among the inactives again.

Packers RB Dimitri Nance's (concussion) was able to run hard on the side during Wednesday's practice.
We're not sure if Nance has been cleared yet, but it's good that he's at least doing something at practice. He'll need to participate in contact drills to be ready for Week 13, though. If he sits out, James Starks would be on the active roster for the first time.

Mon Nov 29 201013:10Nance's status for Week 13 is unclear
Packers RB Dimitri Nance's (concussion) status for Week 13 is unclear.
Nance will go through the normal battery of tests for a concussion, so we won't know his status for Week 13 until later in the week. If Nance is unable to go Sunday, John Kuhn would likely go back to being the goal-line back, and James Starks could get his first opportunity for some playing time.

Packers RB Dimitri Nance suffered a concussion in the team's Week 12 loss to the Falcons.
The undrafted rookie did not return and was replaced by John Kuhn in short-yardage sets. Nance finished with one carry for no yards, getting stuffed on his only goal-line run but still showing the ability to keep his feet moving after initial contact. Nance's status for Week 13 is uncertain.
Fri Nov 26 201012:00McCarthy: Jackson, Nance a good 1-2 punch
Packers coach Mike McCarthy suggested this week that Dimitri Nance has bypassed John Kuhn for the No. 2 spot on the running back depth chart.
"I look forward to going forward with him and Brandon. I think that is a good 1-2 punch," McCarthy said. "Now that we have him involved, he's caught up on everything, and I would like to get him more in the flow of the game." With a squatty build, Nance is ideally suited for Kuhn's former short-yardage role. He's well worth carrying in TD-heavy leagues.

Mon Nov 22 201011:02Nance the new short yardage back?
Dimitri Nance confirmed that the Packers have been grooming him to be their short-yardage back.
Nance was called upon in a third-and-1 conversion in the first quarter yesterday and was used in short yardage from that point on. Most of his 12 carries came in garbage time, but it's worth noting here that Nance may be looking at goal-line work instead of John Kuhn going forward.

Packers added RB Dimitri Nance (ankle) to the injury report.
Nance is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets. The Packers backfield has been a roller coaster ride this season, and we suggest you steer clear of Nance.

Fri Oct 29 201009:45Nance only given a small package of plays
Packers coaches have only given RB Dimitri Nance a "small package of plays" thus far.
The coaching staff wanted to get Brandon Jackson established as the feature back before working Nance in. Jackson has averaged 15.3 touches and 108.7 yards over the past three weeks, so it's been a successful strategy. Nance may work in more on early downs, but he's not a threat to Jackson's job.

Thu Oct 7 201021:47RBs coach: Nance ready if called upon
Running backs coach Edgar Bennett indicated that Dimitri Nance will be ready to handle the Packers offense if called upon this week.
Concerns about Nance picking up the blocking scheme led to his deactivation in Week 3 and a special teams role in Week 4. He's unlikely to see more than a handful of touches, if any, against the Redskins on Sunday.

Packers declared RB Dimitri Nance, CB Pat Lee, S Charlie Peprah, LB Brad Jones, OL Nick McDonald, OL T.J. Lang, OT Marshall Newhouse, and DE Mike Neal inactive for Monday night's game at Chicago.
Undrafted rookie Frank Zombo gets the start at right outside linebacker in place of the banged-up Jones. Zombo had a sack in the opener. The Pack is going with just two ball carriers against Chicago: Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn, with Nance a healthy scratch. DE Ryan Pickett (hamstring) is active.
Fri Sep 24 201009:27Packers increasing playbook for Nance
Packers coaches are increasing the playbook for RB Dimitri Nance, but he's still swimming a bit while picking up the offense.
Mastering the terminology change and "also to be able to play the speed of a blitz drill, he's going through an adjustment right now," explained coach Mike McCarthy. Nance is doing well enough that he's seeing increased work in practice drills. After rushing twice for six yards against the Bills last week, Nance could see his role increase.

Tue Sep 14 201014:36Report: Packers to sign Dimitri Nance
The Packers reportedly have plans to sign RB Dimitri Nance off the Falcons' practice squad to take Ryan Grant's roster spot.
Picture a poor man's Jason Snelling. Nance is a bigger back with a nice hands and short-yardage potential. He would function as Brandon Jackson's backup until sixth-rounder James Starks comes off the PUP list at mid-season.

Falcons signed RB Dimitri Nance, TE Robert Agnone, WR Tim Buckley, WR Andy Strickland, T Jose Valdez, S Rafael Bush, DE Emmanuel Stephens, and LB Bear Woods to their practice squad.
Nance projects as no more than a short-yardage specialist with a sprinkle of upside on passing downs. He's essentially a poor man's Jason Snelling.
