Schmitt was active for all 13 games this season, but is no longer needed with Marcel Reece shifting back to fullback. Schmitt has appeared in at least 15 games every year since 2008, and could find a new home for the season's final three contests.

Raiders agreed to terms with FB Owen Schmitt on a one-year contract.
The Raiders need depth for offseason practices, as starter Marcel Reece has yet to sign his exclusive rights free agent tender and is not participating in workouts. Schmitt has experience with OC Gregg Knapp from their time together in Seattle two years ago.

The former Seahawks and Eagles lead blocker was rated as one of the league's least effective fullbacks in 2011 by Pro Football Focus. He'd have a tough time finding a roster spot behind Marcel Reece.

Eagles FB Owen Schmitt waived an arraignment for driving with a suspended license in Seattle earlier in the month.
Schmitt was scheduled to appear in court and enter a plea Wednesday. Instead, he'll be granted a pretrial date for Nov. 16. Schmitt was originally arrested in June of 2009 on a drunk driving charge.

Eagles signed FB Owen Schmitt, formerly of the Seahawks.
They picked him over Jason Davis. Schmitt, 25, struggled as a blocker in Seattle last year, but has special teams ability and some versatility as a receiver. He won't be nearly as big a part of the offense as Leonard Weaver.

The Eagles will work out free agent FB Owen Schmitt Monday, a source tells Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.
Schmitt is going head-to-head with fellow free agent Jason Davis for the job. Neither would be used as a rusher like Leonard Weaver (knee) was for the Eagles.

Seattle won't go with a true lead blocker this year, opting instead for Quinton Ganther and special teamer Michael Robinson. Ganther, starter Justin Forsett, and KR/PR Leon Washington are the ball carriers left standing.

Owen Schmitt is looking forward to claiming the starting fullback job for the Seahawks.
He has started just two games in his first two seasons in the NFL, but with Ryan Powdrell figuring to be his chief competition, Schmitt stands a good chance to claim that starting spot he's looking for. "I'm just looking to get over that hump a little bit as far as breaking into the starting lineup," said Schmitt. "I'm fired up."
