Wed Sep 30 201509:17Davis has signed 2-year
Davis has signed a 2-year, $4.17 million contract extension with the Browns through 2017, ESPN's Field Yates reports.
Davis, who currently fills in as a reserve quarterback behind Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel, saw time as a starter for the Rams during the 2014 season before a slew of turnovers forced him into a backup role. Given the injury history of McCown and Manziel, it wouldn't be surprising to see Davis take the field for the Browns at some point before his new contract expires following the 2017 season.

Davis will serve as the backup to Johnny Manziel on Sunday against the Titans, Scott Petrak of the Medina Gazette reports.
Josh McCown (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 2, so Davis, who signed less than two weeks ago, will be elevated to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Manziel. Obviously, the former St. Louis Ram should not be a fantasy consideration, but given Manziel's injury history, it wouldn't be a shock if Davis ends up on the field at some point Sunday.
Mon Sep 7 201513:55The Browns have signed Davis
The Browns have signed Davis, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
With Johnny Manziel nursing an elbow issue, Davis -- who started eight games for the Rams last season after both Sam Bradford and Shaun Hill were injured -- will give the Browns added QB depth behind starter Josh McCown in advance of Sunday's regular season opener against the Jets.
Sun Sep 6 201522:58Davis flying to Cleveland to take physical for Browns
Davis is flying to Cleveland to take a physical for the Browns, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports.
Davis was released by the Rams on Saturday, after losing to Case Keenum in a battle for the No. 2 quarterback job. If he signs with the Browns, Davis will likely serve as the top backup to Josh McCown, at least until Johnny Manziel (elbow) is healthy.

The Rams released Davis on Saturday.
With Davis now longer in the mix, Case Keenum and Sean Mannion are in line to provide the team with QB depth behind starter Nick Foles.

Davis only threw one pass in Saturday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Colts, completing it for 18 yards.
Saturday's game was mainly to take a look at Nick Foles and Sean Mannion for the Rams, as Davis and Case Keenum only threw two passes between them. Mannion had an awful contest, which may bode well for Davis' chances at a roster spot. Davis should see a little more time in the fourth preseason game.
Sun May 3 201520:42Davis' roster spot in jeopardy
With the drafting of Sean Mannion, Davis' roster spot is in jeopardy, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The Rams have traded for a pair of quarterbacks in Nick Foles and Case Keenum and spent a third-round pick on Mannion, so the odds of Davis sticking around are low. He will have to outperform Keenum if he is to have any chance of making the roster.

Davis finished the season as the backup to Shaun Hill after racking up 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
It's up in the air whether Davis will be given another chance at the starting job next year, but his initial success this season was overshadowed by issues in his final few games. That being said, Hill had similar turnover issues in his final stretch of games, so it'll be an interesting camp in St. Louis next year. Odds are high the Rams will bring in someone from the outside to try and turn their offense around.
Wed Nov 12 201411:13Austin Davis: No Longer Starting For Rams
Head coach Jeff Fisher announced Wednesday that Shaun Hill will start Sunday against the Broncos in Davis' place, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
It was reported Tuesday that Davis would hold onto his job despite a rough couple games, but Fisher apparently changed his mind, and will go with Hill this week instead. Davis could reclaim the starter's job at some point later this season, but for now, consider him the Rams' backup.

Davis will remain the starting quarterback in St. Louis, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Davis has had a rough few weeks, but has not done enough to make coach Jeff Fisher turn to Shaun Hill yet. The road doesn't get much easier next week against Denver, but the possibility of a shootout could lead to inflated fantasy numbers.

Davis completed 17-of-30 passes for 218 yards, with one touchdown and a pair of interceptions in Sunday's 31-14 loss at Arizona. He was sacked six times, and also lost a fumble in the fourth quarter that was returned for a touchdown.
The Rams actually late in the second half, but Davis struggled in the fourth quarter, committing several turnovers, including an interception that was returned 30 yards for a touchdown. The interception wasn't necessarily Davis' fault, as the ball went off of Kenny Britt's hands, but the young QB hasn't played well lately. He did show some upside during a two-game stretch early in the season, throwing for 702 yards and six scores, but he's been mediocre in five contests since, failing to top 240 passing yards, while posting just a 6:6 TD:INT ratio. The recent loss of Brian Quick to a season-ending shoulder injury certainly hasn't helped things, but Davis' slide began before that. He'll have another tough matchup next week against Denver, although he might post respectable fantasy numbers trying to keep up with Peyton Manning and company.

Davis completed 13-of-24 passes for 105 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 13-10 upset win at San Francisco. He also ran two times for nine yards.
Davis didn't do much, other than a 21-yard touchdown to Kenny Britt in the second quarter, but the Rams' defense was awesome, holding the 49ers to just 263 total yards. Davis recently lost his top wideout in Brian Quick (shoulder), so while the young signal caller has shown flashes of promise this year, it's hard to get overly excited about him moving forward. He'll get another tough test next week at Arizona.
Sun Oct 26 201420:12Davis completed 15 of 25 passes for 160 yards, with one touchdow...
Davis completed 15 of 25 passes for 160 yards, with one touchdown and one interception Sunday against the Chiefs.
Despite completing just 15 passes, Davis connected with 10 different receivers, six of whom caught only a single pass. It didn't help that wideout Brian Quick was forced from the game in the first half with an arm injury and didn't return, although we're not talking about Calvin Johnson here. Davis' touchdown came on the Rams' opening drive and they failed to score again after that, as the offense just couldn't get into any kind of rhythm, either through the air or on the ground. After throwing for 327 yards in Week 3 and 375 yards in Week 5 (the Rams had a Week 4 bye), Davis has thrown for 236, 155 and 160 yards in his last three games. Making matters worse, the Rams will face off against a 49ers defense in Week 9 that is allowing the sixth-fewest passing yards per game this season.

Davis completed 18-of-21 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Seahawks.
After completing just 50 percent of his passes in Week 6 against the 49ers, Davis was excellent against the Seahawks, completed over 85 percent of his attempts while connecting with eight different receivers. His touchdowns went to running back Benny Cunningham and tight end Lance Kendricks, as he threw multiple scores for the third time in the last four games. However, he's got another tough test coming up, as the Rams travel to Kansas City in Week 8 to face a Chiefs defense ranked fifth in the league in fewest passing yards allowed per game.

Davis completed 21-of-42 passes for 236 yards, with a touchdown and an interception in Monday's 31-17 loss to the 49ers.
Davis played well for much of the first half, but he couldn't get anything going after the break, and threw a pick-six to end the Rams' final shot at tying the game. Following three-TD outings against the Cowboys and Eagles, he predictably saw his numbers drop off against what's easily the toughest defense he's faced all season. Of course, the 49ers won't have that distinction for long, as Davis and the 1-4 Rams draw a home game against the Seahawks in Week 7.
Sun Oct 5 201418:21Davis completed 29-of-49 passes for 375 yards and three touchdow...
Davis completed 29-of-49 passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns Sunday against the Eagles. He also rushed three times for 30 yards but lost two fumbles.
The 20 incompletions aside, Davis was excellent passing the ball Sunday, connecting with 10 different receivers, all but one of whom caught multiple passes. He threw two touchdowns to wideout Brian Quick and another to Kenny Britt, posting his second consecutive game with at least 325 passing yards and three touchdowns. Davis was named the starer for the rest of the season ahead of Shaun Hill, and with the way he played Sunday, there should be no questioning that decision by head coach Jeff Fisher.
Thu Oct 2 201412:43Davis will be starter for rest of season
Davis will be the starter for the rest of the season, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Davis has played well enough the past few games to hold on to the starting job, even with Shaun Hill returning. Without the threat of quarterback controversy, Davis should continue to get comfortable as the No. 1 quarterback. He had 322 yards and three touchdowns last week against Dallas and now faces off against a struggling Eagles defense.
Wed Oct 1 201415:40Austin Davis: Named Rams' Starter
Davis will start Sunday's game against the Eagles.
With Sam Bradford out for the year, Davis has supplanted Shaun Hill as the Rams' starting QB, with ESPN's Nick Wagoner suggesting that Davis will not be on a short leash going forward. With the Rams past their Week 4 bye, Davis merits a pickup by those looking to add speculative QB depth at this stage. He'll take aim Sunday at a Philadelphia team that has surrendered 87 points over its last three games.

Davis completed 30-of-42 passes for 327 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Cowboys.
Shaun Hill was active for the game and appeared to be on the cusp of starting before the team ultimately made the late call to go with Davis. He had by far his best game of the season, connecting with eight different receivers while throwing touchdowns to wide receivers Brian Quick and Austin Pettis, and tight end Lance Kendricks. He did throw a pick-six that put the Cowboys up by 10 with less than six minutes remaining, but he was otherwise very solid. Head coach Jeff Fisher has repeatedly said that Hill will be the starter when he's fully healthy, but Davis made a great case for the job, something that Fisher will have to consider over their Week 4 bye.

Davis was announced as the Rams' starting QB in advance of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, ESPN's Nick Wagoner reports.
The Rams took the call down to the wire, but Davis will draw Sunday's start at QB, after all.
