Fri Sep 4 201515:23Johnson released by Texans on Friday
Johnson was released by the Texans on Friday, ESPN.com reports.
Johnson put up a 31-331-1 receiving line for the Texans last season, but he needed 50 targets to get there. If he draws any interest around the league, it will likely be as a potential return man.
Mon Mar 9 201510:42Johnson re-signed with Texans on Monday
Johnson re-signed with the Texans on Monday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Johnson accumulated 31 reception for 331 yards and one touchdown with the Texans last season, and it appears he will return to the team in 2015, and is expected to compete for the team's slot receiver position. With Andre Johnson's impending departure, the receiver position heading into next season remains a bit cloudy, but the Texans could add one themselves via free agency or the draft, while Johnson will contend with DeVier Posey and Keshawn Martin for duties in the slot.

Johnson had three catches on three targets for 33 yards in the season-ending win over the Jaguars and finished the 2015 season with 31 catches on 50 targets for 331 yards and one touchdown. He also returned nine punts and six kicks this past season.
Johnson was a distant third at wide receiver behind the heavily targeted DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson. The Texans' run-heavy offense left little opportunity for a third wideout. His contract is up in 2015, but his job with Houston isn't secure.

Johnson caught five passes on eight targets for 21 yards in Sunday's win over the Browns. He also rushed one time for six yards.
Both the receptions and targets were season highs for Johnson, which is significant because the Texans started a new quarterback, Ryan Mallett, on Sunday. Still, the Texans are a run-first team and Johnson is third on the depth chart behind DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson. We suspect his extensive usage against Cleveland is an anomaly.

Johnson (foot) is listed as active for Thursday's game against the Colts, the Texans' official site reports.
As long as fellow wideouts DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson are both able to suit up, Johnson's fantasy upside is limited. To date, he has recorded five catches for 71 yards and a TD through five games.
Tue Oct 7 201417:19Johnson (foot) listed as full participant in Tuesday's practice
Johnson (foot) was listed as a full participant in Tuesday's practice.
Johnson has been able to practice fully both days this week, so he should be able to play in Thursday's game against the Colts despite the foot injury.

Johnson was replaced mid-game at kickoff and punt returner in Sunday's win over the Bills, the Houston Chronicle reports.
No reason was given for the change, but Danieal Manning handled kickoffs and Keshawn Martin took care of the punts. The return-specialist jobs were open in training camp and still appear unsettled.

Johnson has more targets in three weeks this season than he did all last season with Philadelphia.
Johnson has emerged as the Texans slot receiver and third wideout while also serving as the team's return specialist. Having been added to the team after the final cuts of preseason, Johnson has been getting up to speed in the Houston offense. And the increased reps he's been getting has accelerated his learning process.

Johnson had two catches on two targets for 56 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants.
Johnson had only one catch in both of the Texans' games this season before Sunday, but he got loose for a 44-yard touchdown in the third quarter that made up a vast majority of his fantasy value. With DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson still the top wideout options for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, Johnson's fantasy value is quite limited.

Johnson was the only returner used in Houston's win over Washington in Week 1. He returned one kick for 28 yards and four punts for 28 yards.
It had been reported that Keshawn Martin would return punts with Johnson handling kickoffs, but plans changed. Additionally, the early depth chart for Week 2 has Johnson ahead of Martin at wideout, according to CSN Houston. In another indication of Johnson's increasing roster status, DeVier Posey was inactive for Week 1. Johnson had three targets and one catch against Washington. However the depth chart shakes out in a given week, the smart fantasy plays at wide receiver remain Andre Johnson or DeAndre Hopkins, but this does give us a clearer read on which of the sub group will get snaps in three wideout sets.
Sun Aug 31 201416:15Johnson claimed off waivers by Texans
Johnson was claimed off waivers by the Texans, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Johnson, who was a final cut by the Eagles, had 21 receptions for 270 yards in two seasons with Philadelphia after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Tulsa. He also has experience as a punt and kick returner.
Sat Aug 30 201414:27Johnson released by Eagles on Saturday
Johnson was released by the Eagles on Saturday, CSN Philadelphia reports.
Johnson logged time in 27 games during his initial two seasons in the league, yet only posted 21 catches for 270 yards and no scores. As the NCAA's all-time leader in all-purpose yards, he boasts enough talent to be considered for another professional gig, despite his small stature (5-8, 170).
Tue Jul 29 201400:01Damaris Johnson unlikely to make Eagles
Coach Chip Kelly recently stated in a radio interview that the Eagles don't have a single receiver on their roster under 190 pounds.
They actually have two -- Damaris Johnson and Jeff Maehl -- but neither is expected to make the Eagles' 53. Hailed as a sleeper in some fantasy circles before last year, 175-pound Johnson managed two catches for 14 yards in 13 games. Kelly has made an emphasis on increasing his team's size at wide receiver.

Tue Jun 10 201410:11Eagles WR Johnson not expected to make team
The Philadelphia Inquirer doesn't expect WR Damaris Johnson to make the 53-man roster.
Johnson played just 53 offensive snaps for coach Chip Kelly, catching two passes for 14 yards, one year after reeling in 19 balls for 256 yards as an undrafted rookie under Andy Reid. He's no higher than fifth on the receiver depth chart and is competing with veterans Brad Smith and Arrelious Benn.

Mon Sep 30 201317:25Damaris Johnson not getting offensive snaps
Eagles WR Damaris Johnson has played only 15 offensive snaps this season, and hasn't been targeted once.
Johnson's been strictly a special teamer under rookie coach Chip Kelly, playing behind DeSean Jackson, Riley Cooper, and third/slot receiver Jason Avant.

Fri Aug 23 201317:09Damaris Johnson is a change-of-pace WR
The Philadelphia Inquirer expects second-year WR Damaris Johnson to be a "change of pace player" behind No. 2 wideout Riley Cooper.
Johnson is also the Eagles' primary return man. He's not considered a viable starting candidate due to blocking limitations at 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds. Cooper is all but locked into the first-team offense because he's a proficient run blocker, and new coach Chip Kelly intends to dial up a ton of run plays. Johnson would need a Cooper injury for any chance at a fantasy impact.

Fri Aug 16 201313:23Damaris Johnson being used underneath
Through two preseason games, Eagles WR Damaris Johnson has five catches for 29 yards.
He's been used as an underneath weapon, which makes sense because Johnson is only 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds but capable of racking up yards after catch with blazing straight-line speed. Johnson is not considered to be in the running for the Eagles' No. 2 receiver job, where superior run blocker Riley Cooper is the favorite. Johnson is worth a look in return-yardage leagues.

Sun Jul 28 201312:26Damaris Johnson won't replace Maclin
The Philadelphia Inquirer considers second-year WR Damaris Johnson "unlikely" to replace Jeremy Maclin.
Riley Cooper is the favorite for his run-blocking prowess. Johnson is far more explosive, but goes 5-foot-8, 170 and is expected to be DeSean Jackson's primary backup in addition to returning kicks. As a rookie, Johnson caught 19 passes for 256 yards. Expect his coach total to hover in the 25-30 range this year.

Thu May 23 201316:35Damaris Johnson to handle punts and kicks
Eagles WR Damaris Johnson said he'll be the team's primary kick returner this season, and he'll also platoon at punt returner.
Johnson (5-foot-8, 170) handled punts for the Eagles last season, and he averaged 11.2 yards per return with a 98-yard score. CB Brandon Boykin was the kick returner last season, but he was ineffective. Johnson averaged 25.2 yards per kick return in college. Johnson also expects to be featured more on offense.
