Wed Dec 31 201414:54The Bengals have placed Sanzenbacher (concussion) on IR
The Bengals have placed Sanzenbacher (concussion) on IR, ESPN's Coley Harvey reports.
To fill the depth wideout void created by the absence of Sanzenbacher, the Bengals have promoted Cobi Hamilton from their practice squad. Sanzenbacher thus concludes his 2014 season with nine catches for 105 yards in 10 games.
Sun Nov 2 201411:55Sanzenbacher inactive for Sunday's game against Jaguars
Sanzenbacher is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Meanwhile, A.J. Green is active for the contest, with Sanzenbacher thus a break or two from emerging on the fantasy radar.
Tue Sep 9 201415:24Sanzenbacher had just eight snaps in Sunday's win over Ravens
Sanzenbacher had just eight snaps in Sunday's win over the Ravens.
Even with Marvin Jones out and Tyler Eifert getting hurt early, it was hard for Sanzenbacher to get any opportunities. The latter injury might have actually prohibited him from getting work, as it forced Mohamed Sanu into the slot, where Sanzenbacher might have gotten some reps.

Sanzenbacher (concussion) returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Colts.
While he didn't catch any of his three targets, Sanzenbacher did plenty to prove his health. With Marvin Jones (foot) out for at least the first few weeks of the season, Sanzenbacher -- along with Brandon Tate and perhaps James Wright or Cobi Hamilton -- is in the mix for snaps behind A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu. The Bengals probably won't use too many three-wide sets, as they can instead opt to split out TE Tyler Eifert or RB Giovani Bernard.

Sanzenbacher has been practicing this week, but needs to clear the final step of the concussion protocol before being able to play Sunday night.
With Marvin Jones out, Sanzenbacher has an opportunity to gain extra snaps, but obviously that can only happen if he is able to get on the field first.
Wed Aug 13 201420:19Mohamed Sanu will move from slot to outside
With Marvin Jones out with a broken foot, Mohamed Sanu will move from the slot to the outside, creating the opportunity for Sanzenbacher to win the third receiver's job, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Sanzenbacher had just six receptions last season, but Jones is out and Andrew Hawkins is in Cleveland. Sanzenbacher will have to beat out Brandon Tate and Ryan Whalen for the job, if the Bengals even use wideouts for the role. They could also spread out either Tyler Eifert or Jermaine Gresham in the slot, or even running back Giovani Bernard.
Tue Apr 8 201415:02Bengals re-sign RFA WR Dane Sanzenbacher
Bengals re-signed restricted free agent WR Dane Sanzenbacher to a one-year, $1.431 million contract.
Sanzenbacher was tendered at the lowest level. The former undrafted free agent out of Ohio State caught six passes for 61 yards in ten games last season. He has just seven grabs the past two seasons after reeling in 27 passes as a rookie for the Bears in 2011. Sanzenbacher will compete for a roster spot.

Mon Jun 3 201310:26Sanzenbacher a Jordan Shipley 'clone'?
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Bengals coaches view WR Dane Sanzenbacher as a "clone" to pre-injury Jordan Shipley in the slot.
Shipley, who is now with the Jaguars, posted a 52/600/3 line for the Bengals as a rookie in 2010 before tearing up his knee early in 2011. Andrew Hawkins is locked into the slot for 2013, but perhaps the Bengals view Sanzenbacher as a potential replacement if they decide not to tender Hawkins a contract next offseason. Hawkins is a vastly superior player.

Sun Dec 30 201211:52Bengals declare Week 17 inactives
Bengals declared WR Dane Sanzenbacher, CBs Terence Newman and Jason Allen, S George Iloka, DTs Devon Still and Brandon Thompson, and TE Richard Quinn inactive for Week 17 against the Ravens.
Sanzenbacher was just claimed off waivers on Christmas Eve and doesn't know the offense. Newman is dealing with a groin injury while Allen has a hamstring issue. The rest are healthy scratches.

Tue Dec 25 201216:44Bengals claim receiver off waivers from Bears
Bengals claimed WR Dane Sanzenbacher off waivers from the Bears.
After catching 27 passes for 276 yards and three scores in his 2011 rookie season, Sanzenbacher appeared in just four games, catching one pass for seven yards in Chicago this season. He just didn't fit into offensive coordinator Mike Tice's offense. Sanzenbacher will add depth in the slot behind Andrew Hawkins in Cincinnati.

Mon Dec 24 201215:25Bears waive WR Dane Sanzenbacher
Bears waived WR Dane Sanzenbacher.
Sanzenbacher would've had a better chance this year if the Bears had retained Mike Martz, whose offense heavily utilized a slot receiver. Instead, the Bears went with Mike Tice and Sanzenbacher managed to appear in just four games, securing one pass for seven yards. He had 27 grabs as a rookie in 2011.

Mon Aug 6 201208:15Dane Sanzenbacher looks like Bennett's backup
Dane Sanzenbacher is operating at Earl Bennett's direct backup.
With 25-year-old Devin Thomas surprisingly retiring Sunday, Sanzenbacher's chances of making the team improve dramatically. In the five games that Bennett missed last season, Sanzenbacher averaged 3.0 catches for 26.6 yards with two touchdowns.

Thu Jun 14 201208:53Dane Sanzenbacher might not make team
Dane Sanzenbacher "might face long odds" to make the Bears' final roster, according to ESPN Chicago.
Sanzenbacher showed some ability out of the slot as an undrafted rookie last season, but struggled with drops and had no explosion after the catch. With Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and special teamer Devin Thomas now on the roster, Sanzenbacher is on thin ice.

Mon Dec 26 201100:42Sanzenbacher has four-catch night
Dane Sanzenbacher caught four passes for 51 yards in Chicago's Week 16 loss to the Packers.
As he has done often this season, Sanzenbacher padded his stats during garbage time, hauling in three catches for 35 yards as the Bears drove for a meaningless field goal down 35-18. Despite managing to stay on the Bears' active roster all season as an undrafted rookie, Sanzenbacher won't be guaranteed a roster spot in 2012.

Thu Nov 3 201122:08Sanzenbacher slides into 4th WR role
Dane Sanzenbacher will slide into the fourth receiver role with Earl Bennett (chest) returning this week.
"(Sanzenbacher) does the same stuff Earl does so now he can help out at the 'X' receiver, too," OC Mike Martz said. "He actually plays four positions for us. He'll be all over the place. And he's going to start for us in our four-wide receiver sets." Sanzenbacher can be dropped in all redraft leagues.

Sun Oct 23 201118:20Sanzenbacher has two-catch day
Dane Sanzenbacher was held to two catches for 13 yards in Sunday's win over the Bucs.
Sanzenbacher has now made two or fewer catches in three of his past four games. With Earl Bennett (chest) expected back following the Bears' Week 8 bye, Sanzenbacher is well off the fantasy radar.

Mon Oct 17 201100:25Sanzenbacher catches a rocket for a touchdown
Dane Sanzenbacher caught just one pass in Sunday's Week 6 blowout win, which happened to be a 13-yard touchdown strike from Jay Cutler in very tight coverage.
Not only was the window tight, but the ball came in very hot and Sanzenbacher made a nice catch. There are plenty of people around the Bears who love his skills and think it is a travesty that he was undrafted this past April. Unfortunately none of them coach the Bears, who are reportedly in love with Earl Bennett. Bennett (chest) resumed practicing this week and could have his job back as soon as next week.

Tue Oct 11 201100:42Sanzenbacher cleans up in garbage time
Dane Sanzenbacher cleaned up in garbage time of Monday's Week 5 loss to the Lions, catching five of his six receptions in the fourth quarter for 64 yards.
The Lions held a two-score lead for much of the quarter and were content to let the Bears throw underneath where Sanzenbacher operates. He got good news with Earl Bennett (chest) reportedly out a couple of weeks, but he's far from a safe option -- even in PPR leagues. He's a WR5 at best until Bennett returns.

Tue Oct 4 201116:45Sanzenbacher losing playing time to Hurd
Rookie WR Dane Sanzenbacher played just 13 snaps against the Panthers in Week 4.
The Bears' run-heavy game plan wasn't the only reason Sanzenbacher failed to produce. He played just 27.5 percent of the offensive snaps after staying on the field two-thirds of the time in Weeks 2-3. Special teamer Sam Hurd actually saw more snaps (15) against Carolina. It doesn't look like slot WR Earl Bennett (chest) will lose his job long-term.

Sun Oct 2 201116:48Sanzenbacher gets just one catch
Dane Sanzenbacher caught just one pass for 16 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
Sanzenbacher had a catchable ball go off his hands on a crucial third down. That certainly won't help him maintain playing time when Earl Bennett (chest) returns. Sanzenbacher was also hurt today by the Bears' extreme run-heavy approach. Jay Cutler attempted just 17 passes on the day as the Bears ran all over Carolina.
