Griffen (neck) is active for Sunday's game versus the Packers.
Griffen failed to extend his sack streak to six contests last Sunday, but a new one could begin against Aaron Rodgers, who doesn't mind taking a sack over making a fair worse mistake downfield.

Griffen (illness) did not practice Thursday or Friday and is listed as questionable against St. Louis, but said he expects to play. "I was sick," Griffen told the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "I'm just getting better each and every day."
His illness doesn't sound like a major issue, but check on Sunday to make sure he's active.
Sat Feb 22 201409:14Vikings not likely to tag Griffen
Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said the Vikings "have not talked about (franchise) tags at all" regarding free agent DE Everson Griffen.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune speculated Griffen might be tagged by the DE needy Vikes, but that was always unlikely. The defensive end tag is the most expensive non-QB tag at $12.6 million -- a hefty price for a player that has never been an NFL starter. Minnesota is interested in resigning Griffen, but it may be to a short-term deal that allows Griffen to earn a bigger contract in two or three years. Griffen is our No. 6 free-agent defensive end.

Wed Feb 19 201420:14Everson Griffen is sleeper for franchise tag
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune suggests free agent DE Everson Griffen as a franchise tag candidate for the Vikings.
It's hard to imagine because Griffen has never been an NFL starter and the defensive end tag ($12.6 million) is the most expensive position among non-quarterbacks, but this highlights Minnesota's need in the trenches. Kevin Williams and Jared Allen are both free agents, leaving Brian Robison as the team's lone accomplished end. Griffen needs to be a priority for GM Rick Spielman.

Fri Feb 14 201409:36Everson Griffen could get short-term deal
ESPN Vikings blogger Ben Goessling suggests free agent DE Everson Griffen could opt for a short-term deal.
Griffen posted just 5.5 sacks last season as a rotational end, one year after racking up eight sacks. He just turned 26 in December and could seek a two- or three-year deal in order to cash in again at age 28 or 29. The Vikings are fully expected to make an effort to re-sign Griffen with Jared Allen also a free agent and not expected to return. Griffen is our No. 7 free-agent defensive end.

Tue Jan 7 201417:36Griffen, Vikes haven't talked deal 'lately'
ESPN reports impending free agent DE Everson Griffen hasn't had any recent contract discussions with the Vikings.
The No. 100 overall pick of the 2010 draft, Griffen has served as a pass-rushing specialist, racking up 13.5 sacks over the past two seasons despite making only one start. He played 717 snaps in 2013, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 19 4-3 end. Griffen revealed in October that the Vikings offered him an extension, but that it "wasn't in the ballpark" of what he was looking for. Griffen is going to be a starter in 2014, it's just a matter of if it's with the Vikings. With RE Jared Allen all but certain to walk in free agency, Griffen is the leading candidate to slide in opposite LE Brian Robison.

Wed Oct 9 201316:21Vikings, DE Griffen discussing extension
Vikings DE Everson Griffen says the team has offered him a contract extension but it "wasn't in the ballpark."
Griffen, 25, is in the final year of his rookie contract. LE Brian Robison signed a new four-year deal Wednesday, and Griffen would seem to be the next guy in line for a new contract. With Jared Allen seeming unlikely to re-sign with the Vikings after the season, Griffen could be asked to start opposite Robison in 2014. He's going to need a contract first. Griffen has amassed 13 sacks over the last two-plus seasons. The two sides are still talking, Griffen confirmed.

Sun Apr 21 201313:09Vikings top DLs all entering contract years
The Vikings' best four defensive linemen -- Everson Griffin, Jared Allen, Kevin Williams, and Brian Robison -- are all entering contract years in 2013.
It's notable for the upcoming draft because the Vikings may be a sleeper team to select a defensive lineman earlier than people expect. GM Rick Spielman has six picks in the top 120. Griffen is technically a backup, but he's flashed dominant pass-rush ability whenever given the opportunity to play. Only 25 years old, Griffen amassed eight sacks, a forced fumble, and a pick six in 2012.

Wed Jan 30 201317:19Vikings DE Griffen sparks 2013 escalator
Vikings DE Everson Griffen's base salary will be up from $575,000 to $630,000 in 2013 after he hit escalators in his rookie contract.
Minnesota tried converting Griffen into an outside linebacker last summer, but they smartly moved him back to defensive end. He responded by notching a career-high eight sacks while working in as the third pass rusher behind Jared Allen and Brian Robison. All three of Allen, Griffen, and Robison are entering the final years of their respective deals.

Mon Aug 13 201219:18Everson Griffen shifted back to defensive end
The Vikings have shifted LB Everson Griffen back to defensive end.
"We saw enough of him at linebacker where we feel like this is going to be better for him," coach Leslie Frazier said. Despite playing only 265 snaps last season, Griffen notched four sacks and 14 pressures. He'll remain a pass-rushing specialist and special teamer.

Mon Aug 6 201221:21Everson Griffen conversion going slowly
According to Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, converted DE Everson Griffen has been "kind of sporadic" at linebacker.
"He's had some good moments and he's had some other moments where we'd like it to come a little bit faster," Frazier said. "But we're going to give him a little time and see how he does throughout this week and even in the (preseason opener), and then we'll sit down and evaluate things after that game." Griffen will be a pass-rushing specialist at whatever position he mans in 2012.

Fri Jul 27 201212:58Everson Griffen reports to Vikings at 258
Everson Griffen, whom the Vikings have converted from defensive end to linebacker, weighed in at 258 pounds as training camp opened.
He has been regularly listed at 273, so it's a significant weight loss. Griffen won't be an every-down linebacker in Minnesota's 4-3, but he could give the team another option as a stand-up pass rusher. Griffen can get to the QB.
