Brockel suffered a right ankle injury in Week 4 that will ultimately end his 2014 campaign. His absence leaves Ed Dickson and Brandon Williams as the Panthers' options at tight end behind clear-cut starter Greg Olsen.

Brockel (ankle) has been ruled out for the Panthers' next two games.
Brockel suffered an ankle injury during last Sunday's game and will now add to the woes in the Panthers' running game. Although Brockel isn't a ball-carrier, his blocking ability at tight end and full back is very useful in Carolina's offense, especially with Mike Tolbert (leg) out. Nonetheless, Brockel will now be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.

Panthers re-signed exclusive rights free agents TE/FB Richie Brockel and CB R.J. Stanford.
Brockel will make $465,000 in 2012, while Stanford will pull down $540,000. An undrafted free agent, Brockel appeared in 11 games last season, catching three passes for 13 yards and a touchdown. He played primarily fullback. A two-year veteran, Stanford made 13 tackles in 12 games in 2011.
