Tue May 13 201419:48Ravens inducting TE Heap into Ring of Honor
The Ravens are inducting retired TE Todd Heap into their Ring of Honor.
It's well deserved. Heap isn't a Hall of Famer, but made two Pro Bowls across 12 years, the first ten with Baltimore and final two in Arizona. He was the No. 1 overall fantasy tight end in his second NFL season (2002), and finished among the top five three more times over the course of his career. A true "two-way" tight end, Heap was a pass-catching threat as well as a plus blocker.

Tue Dec 4 201213:42Cardinals dump 12-year veteran TE Todd Heap
Cardinals waived TE Todd Heap.
Heap entered the season as the starter, but made his way into the coaching staff's doghouse due to a slow return from a sprained PCL. Knee and hamstring injuries had limited Heap to 13 of a possible 28 games with the Cardinals since signing a two-year, $5.5 million contract after the lockout. 2011 third-rounder Rob Housler is now entrenched as the starter. Heap will have to prove his knee is sound before getting a serious look on the open market.

Tue Dec 4 201208:30Cards not ready to play Heap yet
Cardinals TE Todd Heap has been inactive for 10 games in a row.
Heap's knee appears to be healthy, but he isn't moving well. Perhaps the Cards should have seen that coming with a 32-year-old that has a long history of medical woes. "He's got to show us in practice that he's full speed enough to be able to go, and that hasn't been the case," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Athletic second-year TE Rob Housler has impressed of late, catching 17 passes over the last four games.

Wed Nov 7 201209:56Cardinals getting frustrated with Heap?
Coach Ken Whisenhunt spoke to TE Todd Heap (knee) for 10-15 minutes in view of the media Tuesday.
The implication is that the Cardinals are fed up with Heap missing practices and games. He's been out since Week 2 even though the Cards never seemed to think his knee injury was serious. Heap also missed six games last year due to a hamstring issue and was out for three more games during his final season as a Raven. Heap's body is failing him at age 32.

Cardinals declared TE Todd Heap, QB Kevin Kolb, WR LaRon Byrd, CB Greg Toler, LB Jamal Westerman, G Senio Kelemete, and G Adam Snyder inactive for Week 9 against the Packers.
Rob Housler and Jeff King will share tight end duties in a fantasy situation to avoid. Toler will be missed against Green Bay's four-wide sets, as the Cards will be left with frequent burn victim William Gay, rookie Jamel Fleming, and special teamer Michael Adams behind Patrick Peterson.

Mon Oct 1 201223:10Heap (knee) doesn't practice on Monday
Todd Heap (knee) did not participate in practice on Monday.
Heap injured his left PCL in Week 2 against the Patriots and hasn't played in a game since. It's becoming a lingering issue. If Heap is unable to go, Rob Housler would start at tight end for Arizona. Neither player is a fantasy option, but Housler has the higher upside.

Fri Sep 28 201215:57Cardinals could miss firepower against Fins
The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers expects Cardinals TE Todd Heap (knee), RB La'Rod Stephens-Howling (hip), and DE/DT Darnell Dockett (hamstring) to all miss Week 4 against the Dolphins.
While there may be no significant fantasy football impact here, this would be losing quite a bit of firepower on Arizona's side. Dockett is a dynamic interior pass rusher. Heap is Arizona's best tight end. Stephens-Howling is a big-time kick returner and oft-used change-of-pace runner. Expect Ryan Williams to handle a heavy workload against Miami, possibly operating as an every-down back.
