Sat Sep 5 201517:25Morgan released by Saints on Saturday
Morgan was released by the Saints on Saturday, Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
(Josh) Morgan lost out to Joseph Morgan in a battle for one of the final roster spots, leaving the latter as the Saints' likely No. 5 wide receiver. Josh Morgan could draw some interest due to his experience, but he's unlikely to find anything better than a depth role.

Morgan caught two passes on six targets for 22 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers, and both Mike Triplett of ESPN.com and Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune expect Morgan to make the Saints' final 53-man roster.
Morgan has been inefficient catching the ball over the last two preseason games - hauling in only three of the last 11 passes thrown his way - and he has been in a tight battle for a roster spot with Joe Morgan. It has been reported that the Saints are only expected to keep one of the Morgans, and Josh appears to have the edge over Joe, who struggled mightily on Thursday. Even if Morgan makes the roster, he is likely to be no better than fourth or fifth on the wide receiver depth chart, with Brandon Coleman expected to serve as the Saints' No. 3 wideout to start the year.

Morgan caught one pass on five targets for 26 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Texans.
Outside of Willie Snead, Morgan was the most targeted Saint on Sunday, however, he managed to haul in only one of the passes thrown his way. While he played behind both Snead and Brandon Coleman in the offense, he at least saw snaps ahead of Joe Morgan in the wide receiver pecking order. Morgan may not be much of an asset for fantasy owners, but he could act as a hindrance to the values of young players like Coleman, Snead, or Nick Toon, as the Saints appear to like Morgan's abilities as a blocker, which could earn him playing time if he makes the final roster.

Morgan caught two passes on two targets for 59 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Patriots.
Earlier this week it had been reported that Morgan had been "solid and steady throughout camp," including catching a pair of touchdown passes from Drew Brees in a joint practice against the Patriots. On Saturday, Morgan continued to torment New England, shaking free for a couple of long receptions -- though he lost a fumble deep in Patriots territory at the end of his second grab, a 31-yard gain. The fumble puts a bit of a damper on his performance, but if Morgan continues to play well this preseason, he is likely to make the final roster. Still. the eight-year veteran's upside is likely limited, as Morgan has managed only 30 total receptions in his last two years in the league.
Thu Aug 20 201511:09Morgan
Morgan, who has been "solid and steady throughout camp," caught two touchdowns from quarterback Drew Brees in Wednesday's joint practice with the Patriots, reports Mike Triplett of ESPN.com.
Although Triplett believes that Brandon Coleman has the early leg up on the Saints' competition for the No. 3 wide receiver position, with three preseason games to go, it is probably still too early to definitively handicap the field. Entering his eight season, Morgan is an experienced veteran compared to most of the others in the depth chart battle - Coleman, Nick Toon, Joseph Morgan, Seantavius Jones - none of who have been in the league more than four years. For fantasy owners, however, Morgan is likely the least appetizing of that group for that very reason, as he's a well known, but probably unexciting fantasy option, even in a Drew Brees-led offense.
Sun May 17 201518:34The Saints have signed Morgan
The Saints have signed Morgan, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Morgan, who caught just 10 passes for 70 yards and a TD in 14 games for the Bears last season, slots in as a depth wideout for the Saints behind the team's top options at the position, Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks.
Mon Jan 5 201516:33Morgan finished 2014 season with 10 receptions for 70 yards and ...
Morgan finished the 2014 season with 10 receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball on two occasions, picking up 30 yards.
Morgan remained on the roster all season and suited up for 14 games, but with at least four superior receiving options ahead of him in the pecking order for targets, the 29-year-old was never able to see much involvement. He'll be a free agent in the offseason, and there's little incentive for the new regime to keep him around in Chicago.

Morgan had two yards on two receptions in the Bears' Week 16 loss to the Lions.
The two catches were Morgan's most since Week 4, but as the yards per reception total suggests, he's not much of a threat for the Bears. Don't expect him to make much of an impact in Sunday's season finale against the Vikings.

Morgan gained 21 yards on his first rushing attempt of the season in Monday's loss to the Saints, but failed to reel in his lone target in the passing game.
The absence of Brandon Marshall (ribs) the past two weeks has allowed Morgan to pick up over 40 snaps in both of the Bears' games, but it's resulted in only a minor uptick in usage. With Marquess Wilson locked in as the Bears' No. 2 receiver in place of Marshall, there's simply not enough targets to go around for Morgan.

Morgan caught one pass for eight yards in Thursday's loss to the Cowboys.
After falling behind by as many as four touchdowns in the game, the Bears were forced to abandon the running game, employing three- and four-receiver sets in many of their second-half play calls. With Brandon Marshall lost earlier in the game with a rib injury, Morgan moved up the depth chart to become the No. 3 receiver, seeing a season-high four targets. If Marshall's injury keeps him out of action in Week 15 against the Saints, Morgan would likely see a similar amount of usage.
Sun Nov 23 201411:55Morgan (shoulder) active for Sunday's game versus Buccaneers
Morgan (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Morgan's 10 targets are scattered across four of his nine active outings this season, confirming his status as a fantasy non-entity.
Fri Nov 21 201416:21Morgan (shoulder) probable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay
Morgan (shoulder) is probable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.
Morgan is ready to go after missing last week's game, but it's hard to see him making a fantasy impact as Chicago's fourth wideout.
Sun Nov 16 201411:44Morgan (shoulder) inactive for Sunday's game versus Vikings
Morgan (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Vikings, Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago reports.
The Bears' passing attack focuses primarily on the three-headed monster of Brandon Marshall (ankle), Alshon Jeffery, and Martellus Bennett (shoulder), leaving scraps for Jay Cutler's remaining options, including Morgan (10 targets in eight games this season).

Morgan (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
Morgan didn't practice all week, but even if he ended up active it's hard to see him playing much with Marquess Wilson (collarbone) back in the mix.

Morgan caught one of his two targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 55-14 loss to the Packers.
As has been the case all season, Morgan didn't do anything noteworthy in the passing game, but the fourth-quarter ankle injury to Brandon Marshall could help his cause. Though the severity of Marshall's ankle ailment remains unknown at this time, if the receiver is unable to play next Sunday against the Vikings, Morgan and Santonio Holmes would both figure to see sharp upticks in their offensive snap counts. While serving as the No. 3 or 4 receiver for the Bears in eight games, Morgan has been targeted just 10 times, but a potential appointment to a starting role would likely result in more involvement.
Sun Oct 26 201421:32Morgan wasn't targeted in Sunday's 51-23 loss to Patriots
Morgan wasn't targeted in Sunday's 51-23 loss to the Patriots.
Aside from a three-yard touchdown against the Falcons in Week 6, Morgan has been off quarterback Jay Cutler's radar entirely for three of the last four weeks. There's simply no room in the Chicago offense for the No. 3 receiver to get many (or any) looks now that Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are healthy.
Tue Oct 14 201419:54Morgan reeled in lone target for three-yard touchdown reception ...
Morgan reeled in his lone target for a three-yard touchdown reception in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
Though Morgan came away with his strongest fantasy performance of the season by virtue of reaching the end zone, quarterback Jay Cutler's division of the targets suggests he's unlikely to emerge as a vital cog of the offense even as the Bears' nominal No. 3 receiver. The big four of Matt Forte (13 targets Sunday), Brandon Marshall (nine), Alshon Jeffery (seven) and Martellus Bennett (eight) should continue to dwarf Morgan in usage so long as they stay healthy.
Sun Sep 28 201423:25Morgan caught three passes (four targets) for 24 yards in Sunday...
Morgan caught three passes (four targets) for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
After almost entirely disappearing from the game plan a week earlier against the Jets, Morgan inexplicably saw action Sunday ahead of Santonio Holmes, who appeared to have firmly established himself as the team's No. 3 receiver. Morgan very nearly added a touchdown to his ledger in the first quarter, but he was ruled out at the one-yard line after failing to extend the ball over the goal line, forcing the Bears to settle for a field goal. The lone target Morgan failed to corral on the afternoon was especially costly in the 38-17 defeat, as a poorly-run route created a window for the Packers' Tramon Williams to deflect a pass to teammate Clay Matthews for a momentum-turning interception. Given the mix of good and bad in his performance Sunday, it's difficult to say with any certainly at this time if Morgan will enter next week's matchup against the Falcons as the team's third wideout.
Tue Sep 23 201410:26Morgan didn't see single target in Monday's win over Jets
Morgan didn't see a single target in Monday's win over the Jets.
After missing the previous week with a groin injury, Morgan returned to the field but was a nonfactor. Quarterback Jay Cutler targeted Santonio Holmes three times in the victory, suggesting that he's the team's clear No. 3 option at receiver at the moment. However, with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery already battling injuries this season, it might not be long before Morgan assumes a larger role offensively.
Mon Sep 22 201419:21Morgan (groin) active for Monday's game versus Jets at New York
Morgan (groin) is active for Monday's game versus the Jets at New York.
Morgan didn't receive a target in Week 2 and only has three to his name this season, making him a less-than-desirable wide receiver option. Moreover, Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) have cast aside their respective injuries to take the field again, which all but wipes out Morgan's relevance.
