Thu Oct 24 201311:20Brett Favre: There is no way I'll play again
Speaking Thursday, Brett Favre said there's "no way" he's going to play in the NFL again.
Favre was responding to reports that the Rams contacted him in the wake of Sam Bradford's season-ending knee injury. He said he's told his agent not to even pass along inquiries anymore because he's done. "I don't know who, but I think a couple teams have inquired," he said. "It's flattering, but there's no way I'm gonna do that." Favre is 44 years old and hasn't played since 2010, when he went 5-8 with the Vikings. He's a literal grandfather.

Thu Oct 24 201307:57Report: Brett Favre declines offer from Rams
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brett Favre declined an offer from the Rams this week.
This is not a joke. The Rams, who just lost Sam Bradford to a torn ACL, reportedly called the 44-year-old Favre to see if he'd be willing to be their quarterback for the final nine games. Somewhat surprisingly, he said no thanks. Although Favre hasn't played since 2010, he always loved the spotlight. Perhaps if the Rams were 6-1 and not 3-4, Favre would have taken a harder look at their offer. Kellen Clemens is going to start for St. Louis in Week 8.

Tue Sep 24 201314:57Brett Favre's agent: 'He could play today'
Brett Favre's agent believes he could "play today," and that he's "in the best shape I've ever seen him in, physically."
"His arms look like a blacksmith's arms," Bus Cook said Monday. "He rides a bike probably 30-50 miles a day. He runs four or five miles a day. He's coaching at the high school and they're undefeated. He loves it. His body fat is 7.5 percent and he weighs 225 pounds. He could play today, better than a lot of them out there today." It's unclear if Cook is describing Favre or The Most Interesting Man In The World. Either way, Favre's playing days are through, though he could probably give Blaine Gabbert a run for his money in Jacksonville. Favre turns 44 in October.

Wed Jan 30 201313:19Favre to be a part of Super Bowl coverage
Brett Favre will be a part of NFL Network's Super Bowl coverage.
It's the first we've heard of Favre in nearly a year. That shatters all previous records. However, if Favre does well Sunday, it's possible he'll sign on for a bigger role at the league's in-house network. Favre turns 43 in October.

Fri May 18 201208:43Packers to retire Favre's jersey in year or 2
The Packers plan to retire Brett Favre's No. 4 jersey "in a year or two," when it's meaningful to the retired quarterback.
It's easy to see why the Packers aren't rushing to retire the jersey. They will want to be 100 percent that Favre isn't going to attempt another comeback. Perhaps more importantly, it provides more time to soothe the hard feelings that developed between Favre and GM Ted Thompson. As a three-time MVP, holder of many NFL records, and future Hall of Famer, Favre is certainly deserving of the honor.

Mon Feb 6 201219:15Brett Favre: I'm not coming back to play
Brett Favre reiterated on 1340 The Fan in Lubbock, Texas on Monday that he is happy in retirement and has no plans to come back.
Favre, 42, was the subject of reckless rumors spread by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel last August that claimed he might quarterback the Dolphins. It never happened, and he drew no interest from any teams. "I was just burned out," Favre said, referring to 2010. "This season, being removed and having a bird's eye view but not being involved was eye-opening because I didn't miss it a bit."

Tue Dec 6 201110:51Report: Bears have no interest in Brett Favre
The Bears have no interest in retired QB Brett Favre, a source tells ESPN's Ed Werder.
ESPN Chicago reported Monday that Favre "would listen" if the Bears contacted him, adding that the 42-year-old has been working out and staying in shape. However, Chicago won't even entertain the possibility despite Caleb Hanie's six interceptions and 40.8 passer rating over the last two weeks. They appear set on riding Hanie while hoping Jay Cutler (thumb) can get back before the season is over.

Mon Dec 5 201113:37Back again? Favre 'will listen' if Bears call
Citing a source familiar with Brett Favre, ESPN Chicago reports that Favre "would listen" if the Bears contacted him about playing quarterback for the 7-5 team down the stretch.
ESPN Chicago's Mike C. Wright makes it clear that the Bears haven't contacted Favre yet, and reports it's "highly doubtful" they will. However, a source told ESPN Chicago that Favre "has been working out and staying in shape." While coach Lovie Smith denies the Bears are interested in adding a quarterback, their pursuit of Kyle Orton suggests they feel they can do better at the position. Through two starts this season, Caleb Hanie is 29-of-60 (48.3%) for 387 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. He's taken six sacks and fumbled once.

Sun Nov 27 201120:30Texans not interested in Brett Favre
Texans GM Rick Smith confirmed to SI's Peter King that Houston has no interest in retired quarterback Brett Favre.
"I don't want to bring the circus to town," Smith told King. Smith also said Favre has "no interest" in another comeback and hasn't even thrown a football in a month. Smith's knowledge of Favre's recent activities suggests the Texans have indeed explored the possibility. We still don't expect Favre to play football again this season, or ever again for that matter.

Thu Nov 17 201108:55Favre not coming to Texans
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Brett Favre will not be coming out of retirement to play for the Texans.
There haven't been any concrete reports about Favre and the Texans, just speculation. "No truth to it. ... It's not happening," wrote Schefter. Favre turned 42 in October. Perhaps when he reaches 50, he'll stop being linked to teams in need of a quarterback.

Sun Sep 11 201111:23Agent: No one has contacted Favre
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brett Favre did not receive "a single call" from an NFL team after the lockout gauging his interest in another comeback.
"I haven't heard from anybody saying, 'We'd like to talk to you about Brett,' " Favre's agent Bus Cook said. "There have been rumors about Philadelphia, Miami, Indianapolis. But we have not had any calls." Cook did not say if Favre would have been receptive to those calls had they happened. This shouldn't be the last you'll hear of Favre, but it seems like we're getting close.

Mon Aug 8 201109:44Peter King: Favre may be tempted to play?
SI's Peter King says he's hearing that Brett Favre is "being slightly tempted about playing football again."
We would ignore this if it wasn't from King, one of most respected NFL writers ever. He says that while Favre won't pursue anything, the 41-year-old might consider returning if a desperate coach calls him up. Considering the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington just saw Favre hobbling around in Mississippi, we're still very skeptical.

Fri Aug 5 201118:03Reporter tracks down Favre in Mississippi
Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald tracked down Brett Favre in Hattiesburg (MS) on Friday, and Favre confirmed to Darlington that he's not coming back to the NFL.
You wouldn't have known it from ridiculous rumors spread lately, but Favre is retired. For good. Darlington met with Favre, and he's looking like an old man. "Brett Favre walks slowly and gingerly," described Darlington, "every step taking considerable effort." Favre has no business returning to football at his age or in his physical condition. It's over.

Thu Aug 4 201115:05Agent: Brett Favre remains retired
The agent for retired QB Brett Favre addressed rumors his client might come out of retirement in a statement on Thursday.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is irresponsibly spreading info that Favre could end up quarterbacking the Dolphins this season. "Brett Favre's retired, that's all I can say," said agent Bus Cook. "He's like Elvis now. People just won't let go." We're confident Favre won't be playing in the NFL this season.

Wed Jul 27 201111:52Report: Eagles never contacted Favre
According to CBSSports.com's Clark Judge, the Eagles never contacted Brett Favre and have no interest in talking him out of retirement.
This doesn't mean Favre wasn't discussed heavily in the front office before the lockout was lifted, but it's clear now that the team has moved on. Favre will stay retired -- and hopefully out of the news cycle.

Sun Jul 24 201112:39Eagles sources: 'Emphatic no' on Favre rumors
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer has spoken with two Eagles sources that gave an "emphatic no" when asked if they would be targeting Brett Favre to backup Michael Vick.
Glazer says he's attempting to "end the uproar now," but it's never that easy with Favre. Vick did not help matters on Sunday morning when he tweeted he would be "honored" to have Favre as his backup. Many have already stated they could never see Favre accepting a backup role, but that would seem to underestimate his appetite for money. Regardless, the odds are long that Favre ends up in Philly, but you don't need to be reminded that he's made a habit of defying supposedly long odds.

Sun Jul 24 201109:41Favre to Eagles 'longest of long shots'
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane, the possibility of Brett Favre signing with the Eagles is "the longest of long shots."
McLane bases his report on "several league sources." That's all good and well, but as we've all learned the hard way the past few summers, nothing has legs quite like a Brett Favre story. This will not be the last you hear of it.
