Tate caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton in Sunday's win over the Chiefs. Shockingly, it came on Tate's first offensive snap of the season.
Previously, Tate had been limited only to special teams duty. The touchdown came on a broken play, where Dalton scrambled outside of the pocket and Tate broke deep as a result, and then laid out to make a great catch. It probably won't get him much more action on offense however, so long as the rest of the receiving corps is healthy.
Wed Apr 1 201514:45The Bengals have re-signed Tate
The Bengals have re-signed Tate, the team's official site reports.
Tate, who recorded 17 catches for 193 yards and one TD in 2014, returns to the Bengals to reprise his role as a depth wideout and returner for the team. He'll continue to work behind the likes of A.J. Green, Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones, with ESPN's Coley Harvey suggesting that the team is likely to add further competition at the wideout position in the upcoming NFL Draft.

With A.J. Green out, Tate is in line to see added work in Sunday's playoff game against the Colts, ESPN's Coley Harvey reports.
In Green's absence, Mohamed Sanu and Tate are in line to head the Bengals' receiving corps on Sunday, while Kevin Brock is slated to fill in for starting TE Jermaine Gresham, who was also declared inactive Sunday.

Tate will start at wide receiver in place of inactive teammate A.J. Green (toe) in Sunday's game against the Ravens, Cincinnati.com reports.
Tate enters Sunday's AFC North tussle as the Bengals' No. 2 receiver opposite Mohamed Sanu. While Tate was limited to just one catch last weekend, he did total four catches for 38 yards and a touchdown in his most recent home game. Although his upside is relatively low, Tate's starting status nonetheless boosts his fantasy stock.

Tate had one catch on two targets for seven yards Sunday against the Colts.
After catching his first touchdown of the year last Sunday against the Panthers, Tate put up another dud Sunday, the fourth time this season he's failed to catch multiple passes. With top wideout A.J. Green possibly returning next week against the Ravens, Tate's limited fantasy value isn't likely to get any higher.

Tate had four catches on five targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-37 tie with the Panthers.
Tate got the start in place of A.J. Green, who was inactive due to a toe injury. His touchdown came on a five-yard pass from Andy Dalton in the second quarter to tie the game at seven, his first touchdown of the season. His four catches matched a season-high that he originally set in Week 1, though he had only two catches in the three games since then. With Green expected to sit out Week 7 against the Colts, Tate could continue to see more work, though Marvin Jones is in contention to make his season-debut after missing the first five games with an ankle injury.

Tate caught one pass (on three targets) for 50 yards in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
Tate also returned one kick 29 yards during Sunday's contest. Unconventionally, his only reception versus Atlanta came off a throw from fellow wideout Mohamed Sanu. Nonetheless, that play by itself exceeded the 19 yards Tate totaled on four catches (six targets) in Week 1. However, with Bengals' star receiver A.J. Green currently nursing a toe injury, Tate might see his involvement slightly increase this Sunday against the Titans.

Tate caught four passes for 19 yards on six targets in Sunday's win over the Ravens.
Tate, working as the No. 3 wide receiver, got a bit more run than expected because of a first-half injury to Tyler Eifert (elbow), who often lines up in the slot or out wide. While still not a viable option in most leagues, Tate will likely see some extra snaps and targets if Eifert misses time beyond Sunday. TE Jermaine Gresham would also be in line for some extra looks, though you could argue that it's Tate whose workload would be impacted the made.

Tate may be in line for an expanded role with Marvin Jones (broken foot) expected to miss at least the first few weeks of the season, ESPN.com reports.
Mohamed Sanu will step in as the No. 2 wide receiver, leaving the Bengals without a proven option for the No. 3 spot. While Tate, Dane Sanzenbacher and James Wright are all candidates to see more snaps than previously expected, none of the three figures to be a huge part of the offense. In all likelihood, the Bengals will hope that Sanu and TE Tyler Eifert can hold them over until Jones returns.
Fri Jun 13 201410:27Brandon Tate losing grip on roster spot
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Bengals KR/WR Brandon Tate's "job appears in jeopardy more than ever."
Tate is a strict return man, but a good one at that. He played just 71 offensive snaps last season. The Bengals have some talent on the back end of their receiver depth chart and may have to cut ties with Tate in order to roster all of them. Adam "Pacman" Jones could handle punt-return duties, while Danieal Manning is a candidate on kick returns should Tate not make the final 53.

Tue Mar 11 201410:52Bengals re-sign WR/KR Brandon Tate
Bengals re-signed WR/KR Brandon Tate.
Tate, a 26-year-old former third-round pick of the Patriots, never panned out as a receiver but has forged a solid NFL career on special teams. He averaged 26.1 yards on kickoff returns in 2013, and 9.3 yards on punts. Tate will not push for playing time on offense, but was worth retaining on the cheap.

Bengals re-signed WR/KR Brandon Tate to a one-year deal.
According to Pro Football Focus, Tate saw 278 offensive snaps in 2012, catching 13-of-24 targets for 211 yards and one score. He also averaged 24.8 yards per kick return and 8.9 yards per punt return. Tate started three games last season as an injury fill-in, but was unimpressive in that role. He's well off the fantasy radar.

Sun Nov 4 201223:32Brandon Tate held to one catch in Week 9
Brandon Tate got the start at split end for the Bengals in Week 9, but came away with one catch for 17 yards.
He saw six targets, but remains an inefficient, unnatural NFL receiver. Mohamed Sanu, the little-used rookie, would be a better option outside at this point. Sanu finished Sunday's game with two catches for 29 yards on three targets. Avoid Bengals wide receivers aside from A.J. Green moving forward. Andrew Hawkins has potential, but simply doesn't play a big enough role.

Mon Oct 22 201200:30Brandon Tate held to one reception in Wk 7
Brandon Tate was held to one reception for three yards in the Bengals' Week 7 loss to Pittsburgh.
Tate got the start in place of Armon Binns (ankle). As usual, Tate's biggest impact came in the return game, where he brought back three kickoffs for an average of 36 yards. A hot fantasy waiver-wire pickup several years back with New England, Tate has never developed into a capable NFL wide receiver.

Thu Aug 23 201223:01Still no separation between Tate, Binns
Brandon Tate caught two passes for 19 yards versus the Packers in the third preseason game.
There's still no separation between Tate and Armon Binns, each of whom were targeted three times. Binns answered Tate's impressive sideline grab with a diving catch just shy of the goal line. Neither receiver has proven worthy of a late-round flier in 12-team leagues. Rookie Marvin Jones continues to flash big-play ability with the second string, accounting for the Bengals' lone touchdown Thursday night.

Fri Aug 10 201222:17WR Tate has nice night in preseason debut
Running with the starters in Friday's preseason debut, Brandon Tate caught two passes for 24 yards.
The Bengals' depth chart, which has Tate listed as a starter opposite A.J. Green, reflected reality this evening. Tate stayed in after Andy Dalton departed, making a nice 14-yard grab in traffic near the end of the second quarter. His best play of the night didn't count, as he skied to make an acrobatic grab while falling backward, but couldn't keep his feet in-bounds. Tate is fighting with Armon Binns for No. 2 receiver duties, but the duo could end up in a rotation with Marvin Jones.

Mon Aug 6 201211:35Brandon Tate listed on top of depth chart
Brandon Tate is listed as a first-team wideout on the Bengals' first preseason depth chart.
Following an impressive offseason, Tate entered camp as the starter opposite A.J. Green and has stuck there. Armon Binns is listed as his backup, while rookie Mohamed Sanu is buried with the fourth-stringers. It's a battle for deep-leaguers to watch.

Sat Jul 28 201203:49Brandon Tate opens camp opposite A.J. Green
Brandon Tate opened Bengals training camp as the starting receiver opposite A.J. Green.
Tate and Armon Binns are expected to take the majority of the first-team reps throughout camp. It looks like the coaches deferred to Tate's experience edge in the initial practice. Rookie Mohamed Sanu will also have a chance to force his way into the mix.

Tue Jul 24 201218:17Tate, Binns to share No. 2 snaps in camp
Bengals OC Jay Gruden expects Brandon Tate and Armon Binns to share the majority of the No. 2 receiver snaps in training camp.
A favorite has yet to emerge between the two holdovers, though it's noteworthy that Tate and Binns are still ahead of rookie Mohamed Sanu entering camp. At this point, Sanu is undraftable in standard-size redraft leagues.
