Tue Aug 1 202317:15Dodgers Deal For Eduardo Rodriguez Is Dead
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers had a trade in place for left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, but Rodriguez invoked his 10-team no-trade clause that included the Dodgers, and the deal is now dead, according to sources. The Tigers already traded right-handed All-Star Michael Lorenzen to the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, and they are expected to deal E-Rod, too. There should still be plenty of suitors for the talented southpaw, as he's gone 6-5 on the year with a strong 2.95 ERA (3.17 FIP), 1.03 WHIP, 21 walks and 91 strikeouts in 88 1/3 innings over his 15 starts. Rodriguez missed some time with an injury in June, and he's allowed 13 earned runs on 20 hits while walking five and fanning 24 in 20 2/3 innings over four starts since July 5.

Tue Aug 1 202314:03Padres Linked To Eduardo Rodriguez
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez is generating interest from the San Diego Padres, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The Friars already acquired veteran hurler Rich Hill this morning, but with San Diego fourth in the NL West and 5.0 games out of a Wild Card spot, perhaps a more drastic addition could be coming. Rodriguez, 30, has impressed through 15 starts this season, amassing a 2.95 ERA, 3.17 FIP, 9.27 K/9, and 2.14 BB/9. The southpaw has done a decent job limiting loud contact, inducing a 40.5 GB% and 9.1 HR/FB%. Regardless of where he ends up, Rodriguez should remain rostered in most fantasy baseball leagues.

Mon Jul 31 202314:00Tigers Fully Expected To Trade Eduardo Rodriguez, Michael Lorenzen
The Detroit Tigers are definitely going to trade starting pitchers Eduardo Rodriguez and Michael Lorenzen before Tuesday's trade deadline, and it's simply a case of seeing which team blinks first with their high price tag. There are plenty of contenders seeking starting pitching down the stretch in 2023, so the Tigers should eventually get substantial offers for both pitchers. Rodriguez, 30, has been excellent when healthy this year, going 6-5 with a 2.95 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 91 strikeouts in 88 1/3 innings over his 15 starts for Detroit. Lorenzen, meanwhile, was the team's lone All-Star representative and has gone 5-7 with a 3.58 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 83 strikeouts in 105 2/3 innings across his 18 starts.

Thu Jul 27 202316:09Eduardo Rodriguez A Hot Commodity On Trade Market
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez is becoming the hottest trade chip on the market as contenders look around the league to upgrade their starting rotation by next Tuesday's deadline. Scouts from the Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks have been keeping a close eye on the 30-year-old southpaw in his recent starts. He's been up and down in four starts since returning from a left index finger injury that landed him on the injured list from late May to early July. E-Rod had a 2.13 ERA in 11 starts before the injury. The biggest question is whether he plans to opt out of the final three years and $49 million of his contract at the end of this year. Most people expect Rodriguez to opt out to become a free agent this winter, especially if he finishes this season strong. Given his lengthy injury, he's a bit of a risk for teams interested in acquiring him.

Tue Jul 25 202314:13Eduardo Rodriguez Getting The Ball Tuesday
Detroit Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez will get the start Tuesday night as the club opens up a three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels. There's a real possibility this could be his final start in a Tigers uniform as E-Rod will be one of the more sought-after players leading up to the Aug. 1 MLB trade deadline given the season he's enjoying. The left-hander has been brilliant, turning in a career-best 2.63 ERA and 21.3% K-BB% across 14 starts and 83 2/3 innings of work. Rodriguez has surrendered two earned runs or fewer in 10 of his last 12 starts with one earned run or fewer yielded seven times in that stretch. He will take on an Angels offense that has been productive versus left-handed pitching, sitting in a share of fifth with a .337 wOBA against southpaws this season.

Sat Jul 1 202314:46Eduardo Rodriguez Will Return And Start Wednesday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) will return and start Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. This is excellent news for fantasy managers, primarily since the 30-year-old was sitting on a 2.13 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 11 starts this season before going down. But Rodriguez's days in Detroit may be coming to an end, with Jon Heyman of the New York Post reporting that the left-hander is a potential trade option for the Tigers moving ahead. Hopefully, Rodriguez will receive more run support from any team he gets dealt to.

Thu Jun 29 202322:11Eduardo Rodriguez Solid In Thursday's Rehab Start
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four across 4 1/3 innings in Thursday's rehab outing with Triple-A Toledo. The 30-year-old threw 58 pitches, landing 41 for strikes. He is expected to make another rehab start in the minors before being activated from the injured list. Rodriguez owned a 2.13 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 67: 16 K: BB across 67 2/3 innings before landing on the injured list on May 30. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Rodriguez in all league formats, as he is expected to return to Detroit's rotation soon.

Mon Jun 26 202321:19Eduardo Rodriguez Slated For Rehab Outing Thursday
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) is slated to make his first rehab start for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. Rodriguez has been sidelined since May 30 after injuring the A4 pulley in his left index finger. He had been throwing batting practice of late but will now move to the minor leagues as he ramps up to return to the Tigers. Rodriguez was initially expected to miss six-to-eight weeks but has healed quicker than expected. The veteran southpaw could be back with the big-league team by next week if his rehab start goes smoothly.

Mon Jun 26 202319:17Eduardo Rodriguez To Make Rehab Start Thursday
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) will make his first minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. Rodriguez threw a live batting practice session last weekend and is now ready to pitch in the minor leagues. The 30-year-old southpaw will need at least several rehab starts after not pitching for the Tigers since May 28. E-Rod needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues after going 4-4 with a strong 2.13 ERA (3.15 FIP), 0.97 WHIP, 16 walks and 67 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings in 11 starts before landing on the injured list. He is trying to return from a pulley injury on the index finger of his left hand.

Tue Jun 20 202316:29Eduardo Rodriguez To Throw Live BP Saturday
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) completed a bullpen session on Tuesday and is scheduled to throw live batting practice on Saturday, June 24. Rodriguez is currently rehabbing from a ruptured pulley in his left index finger that landed him on the injured list in late May. But the 30-year-old southpaw is making progress, and Saturday will be the first time that he has faced live hitters since his injury. If he has a successful session this weekend, the Tigers could schedule a minor-league rehab assignment for him. E-Rod could be back in Detroit's starting rotation before the end of June. Fantasy managers can't get him back soon enough, as he's been excellent with a 2.13 ERA (3.16 FIP), 0.97 WHIP, 16 walks and 67 strikeouts in 11 starts (67 2/3 innings).

Fri Jun 16 202319:07Eduardo Rodriguez Throws Bullpen Session
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) was able to throw a bullpen session on Friday. The left-hander has been sidelined since late May due to left index finger injury. The organization doesn't have a timetable for his return, but the fact he was able to throw is a great sign. At this point, fantasy managers can be hopeful for an early-July return. Rodriguez still has more work to do, but will hopefully be back on the mound in a few weeks. He was pitching well before the injury, so fantasy managers should hold onto him for right now.

Wed Jun 7 202309:36Eduardo Rodriguez Can Begin Light Throwing
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) visited a specialist on Tuesday, who cleared him for light throwing, according to MLB.com. The 30-year-old is suffering from a pulley rupture in his left index finger, which he sustained during his last start on May 28. Before hitting the injured list, Rodriguez was a Cy Young contender, posting a 2.13 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 67 strikeouts over 67.2 innings of work. There still isn't a timetable for his return, but he isn't feeling any pain, and he should be back with the Tigers as soon as possible.

Tue May 30 202315:55Eduardo Rodriguez Hits The 15-Day Injured List
Detroit Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a finger injury that has been labeled a left index finger pulley rupture. The move is retroactive to May 29. It's a tough blow for both player and team as Rodriguez was enjoying a fantastic second season with the Tigers. The veteran owns a 2.17 ERA across 11 starts on the season, and while his 3.17 FIP and 3.72 SIERA spell some regression moving forward, he's nonetheless been outstanding in the season's first couple of months. The club also placed outfielder Matt Vierling on the injured list Tuesday while infielder Tyler Nevin and right-hander Braden Bristo have been recalled in corresponding moves.

Wed May 10 202315:18Eduardo Rodriguez Once Again Dominant On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez continued his white-hot stretch in a winning effort Wednesday versus the Cleveland Guardians. E-Rod tossed seven innings of shutout ball while allowing just four hits and two walks against eight strikeouts on the afternoon. Over his last six starts spanning 41 2/3 innings of work, Rodriguez has allowed just two earned runs with just six walks against 41 strikeouts in that time. He has also pitched at least seven innings in four of his last five starts, going 4-0 in that stretch. The left-hander lowered his ERA to a sparkling 1.57 figure as he takes aim at the Pittsburgh Pirates in his next scheduled start Wednesday at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Thu May 4 202318:28Eduardo Rodriguez Dominant Again Thursday
Detroit Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez had another phenomenal performance on Thursday against the New York Mets. He went eight innings and permitted just three base runners while striking out nine. Through seven starts, Rodriguez has a 1.81 ERA and 0.78 WHIP with three wins. Rodriguez missed the 2020 season after contracting Myocarditis and then struggled in 2021 and 2022, but has looked better than ever to start this year. He did have a 3.71 FIP before this start, so he's due for some regression. One thing Rodriguez has been doing great is limiting his walks, and if he can keep that up, he'll provide good numbers all year. He's still available in some leagues, so grab him and ride the hot streak.

Fri Apr 28 202311:56Eduardo Rodriguez Getting Friday's Start
Detroit Tigers southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez will make his sixth start of the season on Friday, taking on Grayson Rodriguez and the Baltimore Orioles. The 30-year-old has impressed thus far, especially lately. Over his last two starts, Rodriguez has allowed no runs on five hits with 16 strikeouts and no walks across 15 innings. He now brings a 2.32 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and a 21.7% strikeout rate into Friday's contest. It's a good sight for fantasy managers after Rodriguez's disappointing first campaign in Detroit. The eight-year veteran's fantasy value is still limited in terms of his strikeout stuff and win potential, but he has the talent to contribute to ratios going forward.

Wed Apr 12 202323:23Eduardo Rodriguez Logs A Quality Start On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez allowed one run on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk across six innings in a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Rodriguez didn't factor into the decision as he didn't receive much run support and Detroit would eventually fall in extra-innings. It was the 30-year-old's best start of the season and his first quality start. Rodriguez has an 0-2 record, 4.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and a 9:5 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (three starts) so far this year. It won't get much easier for the left-hander as he draws the Guardians at home in his next turn.

Tue Sep 13 202215:01Eduardo Rodriguez Allows Five Runs On Monday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez allowed five earned runs in his start against the Houston Astros on Monday. It wasn't an ideal outing for the veteran, who also gave up 10 hits and a walk while striking out a pair of batters. He finished the day with an 18% CSW rate and generated seven swinging strikes on 88 pitches against the Astros. In his first year with the Tigers, the 29-year-old has pitched to a 4.50 ERA, a 4.50 FIP, 52 strikeouts, and 26 walks in 66 innings.

Wed Aug 17 202216:40Eduardo Rodriguez Set To Return On Sunday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez (personal) will return to the rotation on Sunday to face the Los Angeles Angels. Rodriguez has been on the restricted list for the bulk of the 2022 season for undisclosed reasons. Prior to landing on the restricted list, he made eight starts and went 1-3 with a 4.38 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. The 29-year-old has been a decent fantasy option across the majority of his big league career and he has a chance of helping fantasy managers down the stretch this season. If you need some rotation help, take a look to see if he's out there on your waiver wire.

Mon Aug 15 202219:14Eduardo Rodriguez To Make Another Rehab Start Tuesday
Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (personal) will make another minor league rehab start for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. Rodriguez will have a conference call with manager A.J. Hinch on Wednesday to decide his next step. If he's ready to join the Tigers, he could start as early as Aug. 21. The 29-year-old southpaw has made only eight starts for Detroit this year and hasn't pitched in a big-league setting since May 18 against the Tampa Bay Rays, so he has required a rehab stint to build his arm back up. Before stepping away from the team, E-Rod was 1-3 with a 4.38 ERA (4.02 FIP), a 1.33 WHIP and a 34:17 K:BB in 39 innings pitched. He should be useful in most mixed fantasy leagues the rest of the way once he returns to the Tigers starting rotation.
