Sun Aug 20 202319:20Gunnar Henderson Erupts With Four Hits In Rout
Baltimore Orioles third baseman/shortstop Gunnar Henderson went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored in Sunday's easy 12-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. The 22-year-old put on a show in this one. Henderson first doubled in the third inning, tripled in the fourth, and then homered in the seventh. A single shy of the cycle, the young infielder roped one down the right-field line in the eighth frame, legging out a double and bypassing an opportunity to etch his name into the history books. It was quite a selfless act in a ballgame effectively decided with the score at 11-1 at that point. Henderson has left a slow start to the year in the dust, and the four-hit attack ups his triple-slash line to .249/.331/.484 with 21 dingers, 19 doubles, six triples, and 61 RBI overall.

Tue Aug 15 202312:15Gunnar Henderson Drives In Three In Win Over Padres
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson had a big night in the team's 4-1 win over the San Diego Padres in the series opener on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two strikeouts. Henderson hit a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning that was the difference in the ballgame. It was nice to see for the 22-year-old at the plate, as he's been struggling of late offensively. So far in the month of August, he's hitting .212 (11-for-52) with two home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and six runs scored in 13 games (12 starts). Hopefully the two-hit game will get Henderson back on track. He has 19 home runs in 379 at-bats and has also contributed 55 RBI, six steals and 63 runs scored while hitting .237 (90 hits).

Fri Jul 28 202316:18Gunnar Henderson Returns From Injury
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson (back) is back at shortstop and is hitting leadoff for the O's on Friday against the visiting New York Yankees and right-hander Gerrit Cole. Henderson left Tuesday's game early with lower-back pain and sat out of Wednesday's contest, but he's good to go heading into the weekend after having another day off on Thursday. The 22-year-old needs to be returned to all fantasy lineups in single-year leagues, although he's coming back to a tough matchup against New York's ace. In his first full major-league season, Henderson is hitting .241/.336/.466 with an .802 OPS, 16 home runs, 12 doubles, five triples, 43 RBI, five stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 91 games over 357 plate appearances.

Wed Jul 26 202315:01Gunnar Henderson Taking A Seat Wednesday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson (back) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Ranger Suarez. The 22-year-old departed Tuesday's contest late with lower back discomfort, but it's likely he was going to start this one on the bench regardless considering he is hitting just .206 with two extra-base hits across 84 plate appearances versus left-handed pitching this season. He sure has had his way with righties, however, as he owns an .850 OPS against them with 15 homers, 11 doubles, and five triples across 273 trips to the plate. Jorge Mateo will return to shortstop and hit eighth Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

Tue Jul 25 202321:37Gunnar Henderson Exits Early Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson (back) left Tuesday's matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies prematurely after experiencing lower back discomfort, according to Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com. The rookie has been fantastic this season over 90 games, slashing .244/.340/.472 with 16 homers, 54 runs, 43 RBI, and five steals. Hopefully, he isn't out long-term, and fantasy managers should check back in for updates. Expect Jorge Mateo to see more time at short in the time being. The speedster is only hitting .212 with six dingers but is one of the best sources of stolen bases, swiping 23 bags across 84 games.

Sun Jul 23 202313:17Gunnar Henderson Looking For First Multi-Hit Contest Of Second Half
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson is still looking for his first multi-hit effort of the second half as the O's finish off their weekend series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Henderson has collected a hit in 7-of-9 games since the All-Star break, including two home runs. However, he hasn't notched a multi-hit contest yet. He's still putting together an excellent season for the Orioles, who are currently one game ahead of Tampa Bay for first place in the AL East. Henderson is a big reason why Baltimore is 22 games over .500 (60-38) on the season. He's slashing .243/.337/.467 with 15 home runs, 41 RBI, and five stolen bases over 300 at-bats.

Fri Jul 7 202302:21Gunnar Henderson Crushes Four Hits Against Yankees
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson was 4-for-7 at the plate Thursday against the Yankees. Henderson smacked two home runs and drove in five runs. His four hits came in the first four frames of the contest. The 21-year-old has been inconsistent lately, as he had a solid first half of June. He's struggled in his previous six games, going 4-for-24 with no RBI. Overall this season, Henderson holds a batting average of .246 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI.

Mon Jun 26 202317:05Gunnar Henderson Taking The Day Off Monday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson is not in the team's starting lineup on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Henderson, who hits left-handed, will be given a day of rest as the Orioles face Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson. Instead, Ramon Urias will get the nod at the hot corner and will bat fifth in the batting order. The 21-year-old Henderson has certainly held his own in 67 games for Baltimore in just his second MLB season, as he's slashing .244/.344/.461 with 11 home runs, 10 doubles, two triples, 27 RBI, five stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 250 plate appearances. Henderson is one of the team's best young building blocks, so expect him back in the starting lineup on Tuesday.

Tue Jun 20 202316:04Gunnar Henderson Back In Tuesday's Lineup
Baltimore Orioles infield prospect Gunnar Henderson (illness) is back in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Tyler Glasnow. Henderson is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff. The 21-year-old was scratched on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs due to a stomach bug, but he's feeling better after the off day on Monday. Fantasy managers will want to get Henderson back in their starting lineups. He's hitting only .237 (47-for-198) on the year, but he's starting to heat up as the summer approaches with 16 hits in 44 at-bats (.364) with a double, five homers, 12 RBI and two stolen bases in 12 games so far in June. The matchup isn't a great one against Glasnow, but Henderson has been on a tear.

Sun Jun 18 202313:03Gunnar Henderson Scratched Late On Sunday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson has been scratched from the lineup for Sunday's contest against the Chicago Cubs. Henderson was on the original lineup card but was a late scratch. The Orioles haven't given a reason for his absence as of now but they should provide an update momentarily. Henderson has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball since the calendar flipped to June so hopefully, it's a minor issue.

Fri Jun 16 202311:59Gunnar Henderson Back In Leadoff Spot Friday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson is starting at third base and is back in the leadoff spot on Friday to take on the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Henderson was in the cleanup spot on Thursday, but he'll be back in the top spot on Friday. The 21-year-old started off slowly at the plate, but he's picking things up of late and is hitting .405 (15-for-37) with a double, five home runs, 12 RBI, seven runs scored and two stolen bases in 10 games so far in June to raise his season slash line to .241/.347/.461 with an .808 OPS, 10 home runs, 26 RBI and four stolen bases. Fantasy managers need to keep riding him while he's hot.

Tue Jun 13 202316:09Gunnar Henderson Hitting Leadoff For O's
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson is serving as the team's designated hitter and is batting leadoff on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Chris Bassitt. Ramon Urias will start at third base and hit eighth in the lineup. It's the third straight game that Henderson has occupied the top spot in Baltimore's batting order, and it's well-deserved, as the 21-year-old has been red-hot at the dish to start the month of June. In seven games played, he's gone 11-for-24 (.458) with a double, four home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases in 25 plate appearances. He's boosted his overall line to .236/.349/.455 with nine home runs, 21 RBI, four steals and 34 runs scored in 57 games so far in 2023. Keep riding him while he's hot.

Wed Jun 7 202317:20Gunnar Henderson Back In The Fold Wednesday
Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson (back) is back in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Corbin Burnes. Henderson is starting at third base and is batting sixth in the lineup. The 21-year-old infielder left Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants prematurely with lower-back discomfort and has missed the O's last three games as a result. However, he'll be back in there on Wednesday and should continue to be part of the club's everyday lineup moving forward despite hitting just .201 (32-for-159) on the season with seven doubles, two triples, six home runs, 15 RBI and 29 runs scored in 52 games. Henderson has been in even more of a rut at the plate of late, too, going 3-for-21 (.143) with a homer, four RBI and eight strikeouts in his last seven contests.

Tue Jun 6 202317:56Gunnar Henderson Remains Out Once Again
Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson (back) remains out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The rookie infielder was removed from Saturday's contest due to lower back discomfort. He sat out on Sunday and it appears he's still dealing with the issue. Henderson did mention he is feeling better and should be in the lineup on Wednesday. In the meantime, Ramon Urias will cover third base and bat seventh versus right-hander Freddy Peralta.

Sun Jun 4 202313:46Gunnar Henderson Not In The Lineup On Sunday
Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants. Henderson was dealing with some lower back discomfort, which forced him to leave Saturday's contest early. His absence on Sunday is related to that same issue so hopefully, the day of rest helps him avoid an IL stint. Josh Lester is taking over at the hot corner and batting seventh against the Giants.

Sun Jun 4 202309:18Gunnar Henderson Limited By Lingering Back Issue
Baltimore Orioles shortstop/third baseman Gunnar Henderson (back) couldn't finish Saturday's battle with the San Francisco Giants due to back discomfort. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde revealed after the game that the problem has been "lingering in recent days", but also claimed it was a precautionary exit. It's fair to wonder if the injury has affected Henderson's play, as he's just 3-for-21 over his last seven games. Following a very exciting 2022, the former top prospect has regressed in 2023, hitting only .201 with six homers, 15 RBI, and two stolen bases. It remains to be seen if Henderson will be in Sunday's lineup, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the 21-year-old get a recuperation day.

Wed May 24 202314:46Gunnar Henderson On The Bench Wednesday
Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson is absent from Wednesday's starting lineup against the New York Yankees and southpaw Nestor Cortes. The 21-year-old's bat has heated up of late but it's little surprise he will start on the bench against a left-handed pitcher. The lefty-swinging youngster is hitting just .129 without an extra-base hit across 40 trips to the plate against southpaws this season. He has raked righties, however, and has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine starts with a homer, a triple, and a pair of doubles in that stretch. The righty-swinging Joey Ortiz will start at third base and hit ninth at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night.

Wed May 24 202302:31Gunnar Henderson Makes Some Noise With Solo Blast
Baltimore Orioles third baseman/shortstop Gunnar Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the New York Yankees. A 37% strikeout rate is ruining the rookie's fantasy appeal, as Henderson's batting average has been above the Mendoza Line (.200) for only three games this year. Even though the speedy 21-year-old owns nearly a 17% walk rate, it's translated to just one stolen base. Henderson at least possesses an average of .294 with two homers in his last 10 games. The former top prospect holds way too much upside to be dropped outside of shallow redraft leagues.

Mon Apr 10 202314:09Gunnar Henderson Not Starting Monday
Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson is not in the starting lineup against the Oakland Athletics on Monday. Off to a slow start in his first full major-league season, Henderson will get a day of rest in the first game of the series against the A's. The 21-year-old prospect has gone just 4-for-27 (.148) with a double, home run, two RBI, three runs scored, one stolen base, eight walks and 14 strikeouts in his first eight games in 2023. Henderson has a high pedigree, though, and fantasy managers should remain patient with the left-handed hitter. With the youngster out Monday, Ramon Urias is starting at third base and hitting sixth against A's left-hander JP Sears. Urias has very little DFS upside offensive with just 25 home runs in 221 career MLB games.

Tue Apr 4 202322:20Gunnar Henderson Dealing With Sore Hand
Baltimore Orioles infield prospect Gunnar Henderson (hand) was out of the starting lineup on Tuesday because he's dealing with a sore right hand from a play on Monday night after it swelled up on him a little bit during the game, according to manager Brandon Hyde. "He's fine, just it's tender," Hyde said. Henderson is available to pinch hit on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers. The 21-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now, and he could be back in the lineup shortly, possibly as early as Wednesday. The former second-round pick in 2019 hit his first home run of the year on Monday night, but he has just two hits in his first 12 at-bats (.167) while walking six times and striking out six times.
