Sun Apr 3 202223:48Jo Adell, Brandon Marsh To Be On Opening Day Roster
Los Angeles Angels outfielders Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh will start in the outfield on Opening Day for the Angels, according to manager Joe Maddon via the OC Register. The young outfielders will flank Mike Trout in the first Opening Day start for both Adell and Marsh. Adell has struggled in parts of two Major League seasons, but Maddon said Adell's Cactus League performance proves the 22-year-old is ready for a starting role. Marsh was forced into action last season with Trout on the injured list, and will look to improve on the .254 batting average he posted as a rookie.

Wed Sep 15 202119:18Jo Adell Lands On Injured List, Likely Done For The Year
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (abdomen) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left abdominal strain on Wednesday. Jose Rojas was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. After the transaction, Angels manager Joe Maddon told reporters that he doubts Adell will play again this year. The 22-year-old had a much better showing in the majors in 2021 than he did in 2020. Over 35 games this year, he slashed .246/.295/.408 with four home runs, 26 RBI and 17 runs. He can be dropped in all redraft leagues.

Tue Sep 14 202118:22Jo Adell Out Of Angels Lineup Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (back) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Chicago White Sox, Jack Harris of the LA Times reported. The 22-year-old centerfielder has missed two straight games after crashing into a wall over the weekend and is considered to be day-to-day with a sore back. No doubt Adell is eager to get back into the lineup since he has been red-hot at the plate lately, slashing .346/.393/.769 over his last seven games with three home runs, eight RBI, one stolen base, and five runs scored on nine hits. Brandon Marsh is slated to fill in at center field and bat seventh against Chicago.

Sun Sep 12 202112:17Jo Adell Won't Start Against Astros Sunday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell has finally been delivering on his promise at the plate lately, slashing .291/.339/.509 over his last 15 games. He has a nine-game hitting streak going, but he'll take a seat on the bench Sunday against the Houston Astros as the Angels run Juan Lagares out to right field in Adell's stead. Adell is a top option in keeper and dynasty formats, and he just might be a redraft contributor the rest of the way if he can keep up his hot hitting. Look for him to be back in the lineup Tuesday against the White Sox.

Sat Sep 11 202118:45Jo Adell Moved up In Batting Order
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell has been moved up in the batting order for Saturday's game against the Houston Astros. Adell has three home runs and eight RBI over the last five games. He has been on fire at the plate, so the Angels are giving him more responsibility in the order. He'll bat third and play right field against righty Luis Garcia. This isn't the best matchup for Adell, but he has been hot at the plate, so fantasy managers should feel comfortable using him as a streaming option.

Wed Sep 8 202109:38Jo Adell Knocks In Three Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell had three of the four RBI in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the San Diego Padres Tuesday. He hit a two-run single in the seventh and added one more on a groundout in the ninth. Adell has come alive in his last five games, hitting .471 with two home runs and a 1.350 OPS. Across 32 games overall, Adell is slashing .248/.302/.385 with three home runs and two stolen bases. He's more relevant in dynasty leagues right now, with his immense power potential, but fantasy managers who need outfield help can take a chance that Adell will stay hot the rest of the way.

Sun Sep 5 202110:16Jo Adell Goes 1-for-3 Saturday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell collected one hit in three at-bats in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. The hit was just a single, and he also stole a base and struck out once. He's slashing .224/.272/.318 with one home run and two stolen bases over 29 games this season. Adell has greatly improved his strikeout numbers, down from 41.7% last year to 23.7%, but the power he displayed in the minors hasn't shown up yet. He smacked 23 HRs and had a .592 slugging in 73 Triple-A games this year, and his ability to hit for power is what once made him a top prospect. He can be left on the waiver wire right now and should only be rostered in dynasty formats.

Wed Aug 25 202111:25Jo Adell Knocks In Four Runs Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell was responsible for four RBI in Tuesday's 14-8 win over the Baltimore Orioles. He had two hits, including a triple, two runs, and he struck out twice. Adell hasn't been able to translate his minor league success thus far, where he smashed 23 home runs in 73 games. He's slashing .213/.263/.333 with one home run, one stolen base, and he's striking out 28.7% of the time. Adell is a good player to stash in dynasty leagues and can be a deep waiver wire option for fantasy managers hoping he'll find his power stroke before season's end.

Wed Aug 18 202110:07Jo Adell Hits Game-Winning Grand Slam
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell hit a ninth-inning grand slam on Tuesday to take a 6-2 lead in the eventual 8-2 win over the Detroit Tigers. It was his only hit of the day, and he struck out once across five at-bats. He now has one home run and is slashing .231/.286/.365 with 10 RBI, five runs, and one stolen base in 14 games. He was hitting very well in Triple-A before his call-up, blasting 23 HRs with a .289 batting average in 73 games. Adell's a good player to stash in dynasty leagues with his power potential but won't offer much in redraft leagues until he can figure out major league pitching.

Thu Aug 12 202113:50Jo Adell Records Two Hits Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored during Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. He's had a decent start to his season, hitting .290 with a .419 slugging and one stolen base, but has yet to hit a home run in eight games. There are signs of improvement thus far, with his strikeout rate dropping from 41.7% in 2020 to 27.3% this year. If he can keep improving his strikeout rate, the power should come as he hit 23 HRs in 73 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this season. Adell is a good outfielder to keep in dynasty leagues and a high upside player to roster in redraft formats.

Tue Aug 3 202123:47Jo Adell Has Productive 2021 Debut On Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and a walk during an 11-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The 22-year-old's first game in 2021 couldn't have gone better after earning a call-up for an everyday role from Triple-A. Adell will look to move past a tough cup of coffee last year with the Halos that resulted in a .161/.212/.266 line with three homers and seven RBI over 99 at-bats. The slugger mashed 23 homers in only 73 games in Triple-A with a .289/.342/.592 line and could become an intriguing option should the Angels decide to rest veterans.

Tue Aug 3 202111:50Justin Upton Platooning, Jo Adell To Play Everyday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Justin Upton will platoon with right fielder Adam Eaton, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group. Upton will start against lefties and play left field. Upton has slashed .222/.371/.500 versus left-handed pitching this season compared to .232/.292/.426 against righties. The decision comes the day of Jo Adell's promotion to the big leagues, with him being given an everyday job in the outfield. Adell will try to justify the move by showcasing his raw power that led to .592 slugging with 23 HRs in 73 minor-league games this season. Fantasy managers need to act accordingly, only rostering Upton in deep and AL-only leagues, as well as keeping Adell as a waiver wire option.

Mon Aug 2 202119:46Angels Call Up Jo Adell
The Los Angeles Angels have called up outfielder Jo Adell ahead of Monday's game against the Texas Rangers. He is playing left field and batting sixth. Adell has been productive this year in Triple-A, batting .289 with a .592 slugging and 23 HRs in 73 games. This will be his first appearance of the year with the Angels and he will look to improve his career numbers after an unspectacular debut in 2020. He slashed .161/.212/.266 and struck out 41.7% of the time. If he wants to become the star outfielder that many thought he would be, he will need to work on his poor strikeout numbers that have hurt him the past few years. With Justin Upton, Brandon Marsh, and Adam Eaton on the roster, as well as Mike Trout returning at some point this season, he will need to hit to find a spot in the everyday lineup. Fantasy managers looking to add power to their outfield could add Adell and hope that he will get enough at-bats. Additionally, the Angels promoted Chris Rodriguez and demoted ... [More]

Fri Jul 30 202110:36Jo Adell Has Big Day Thursday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell went 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs, three RBI, and was a triple shy of the cycle with Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday. He is now slashing .286/.338/.575 with 21 HRs, but has an inflated 29.0 K%. Strikeouts have been a problem for Adell the past few years, including a 41.7 K% in 2020 with the Angels. He has improved his strikeout numbers lately, posting a 23.1 K% since the start of July. He has yet to get another shot at the big league level this season, but if he can maintain the improvements he's made, he will eventually get another chance at becoming the slugging outfielder the Angels envisioned when he was their top prospect.
