Wed Aug 2 202320:00Julio Rodriguez Drives In A Run, Steals Home
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez helped lead the team to victory on Wednesday by going 1-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, a stolen base, and two strikeouts in a 6-3 win over the Boston Red Sox. J-Rod was doing nothing at the dish, including a pair of strikeouts, until the bottom of the seventh when he smacked a go-ahead RBI single off Richard Bleier. He then stole home on a double steal attempt with teammate Eugenio Suarez later in the same frame to extend Seattle's lead. It's been an up-and-down season for the 22-year-old All-Star but he's been flashing his elite upside over the last few series. Overall, he's slashing .251/.313/.419 with 17 home runs, 58 RBI, and 25 stolen bases over 439 at-bats on the year. While the rate stats leave a lot to be desired, his 25 swipes already match last season's total and he's gone deep four times over the last 11 games. He could get hot over the final two months and make good on his round-one ADP from the spring.

Wed Jul 26 202300:37Julio Rodriguez Homers Twice Tuesday
Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez had a huge game at the plate in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Twins. The 22-year-old went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a two-run HR, and two strikeouts. He hasn't been quite as excellent as he was in 2022, but Rodriguez is still providing plenty of fantasy value with a .244/.311/.398 slash line, 14 HR, 51 RBI, and 23 stolen bases. Fantasy managers are well aware of his upside and he should remain in their lineups at all times even if he isn't delivering quite what they have expected.

Tue Jul 18 202318:44Julio Rodriguez Held Out On Tuesday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This appears to be a routine day off for the 22-year-old outfielder. AJ Pollock will cover left field and bat eighth versus right-hander Bailey Ober on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should make sure to adjust their lineups accordingly with Rodriguez sitting out on Tuesday.

Thu Jul 13 202312:47Julio Rodriguez Ready For Take-Off In Second half
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez looks ready to break out in the second half of the season. Coming off a dazzling display of power in the annual Home Run Derby in Seattle, smashing a record 41 home runs in the first round, Rodriguez is looking to continue his strong finish to the first half. Over his last 15 contests prior to the All-Star break, the 22-year-old slashed .303/.352/.409 with one home run, nine RBI, and six stolen bases over 60 at-bats. His overall batting line and counting stats are not what fantasy managers expected when he was drafted back in March but he's showing signs of turning things around. Across 365 at-bats this year, Rodriguez is slashing .249/.310/.411 with 13 home runs, 49 RBI, and 22 stolen bases. He swiped 25 bags last season so he's well on pace to beat that mark. The power has been lacking and the RBI has left a lot to be desired but a lot of that can be attributed to team context. However, the Mariners start off with a relatively light schedule out of the gate as they host the Detroit Tigers for three games followed by a four-game set vs. the Minnesota Twins. It's the perfect opportunity for Rodriguez and the M's to re-assert themselves into the playoff conversation.

Sun Jul 2 202319:44Julio Rodriguez Reaches Twice In Sunday's Win
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and a strikeout, and was caught stealing in a 7-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. It was a total team effort for the M's on Sunday as they were facing a 6-1 deficit heading into the bottom of the third inning. Rodriguez got things going when he doubled off Taj Bradley and then came around to score via a Ty France double in the same frame. He would single later in the contest and was originally awarded his 20th steal of the season, which was later overturned by a Tampa Bay challenge. Seattle ended up taking 2-of-3 from the Rays after an embarrassing loss on Friday in which they surrendered 15 unanswered runs. Perhaps this victory will give J-Rod and the Mariners some much-needed momentum heading into a road series against the San Francisco Giants. For the season, Rodriguez is slashing .246/.308/.413 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, and 19 stolen bases over 334 at-bats.

Sat Jun 24 202313:19Julio Rodriguez To Compete In The 2023 All-Star Home Run Derby
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez will compete in the 2023 All-Star Home Run Derby. Seattle is hosting the All-Star festivities this season so it makes sense that the hometown Rodriguez would throw his hat in the ring. He put on an absolute show in the contest last season in Los Angeles, mashing 81 homers, but due to the head-to-head format of the event, he finished second behind Juan Soto. He'll look to take the crown this year in front of his hometown fans. He's the first contestant to be named so far.

Sun Jun 18 202320:22Julio Rodriguez Drives In A Pair In Victory
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base, a walk, and a strikeout in a 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. The Mariners couldn't get anything going against veteran hurler Lance Lynn, who punched out 16 batters on the day. Rodriguez did all the necessary damage in this one, though, with a two-run double in the third inning. He also swiped a base and drew a walk in the contest. It's been an underwhelming season so far for Rodriguez, and the Mariners in general, but a game like this could go a long way in turning things in the right direction. Overall, "J-Rod" is slashing .244/.303/.428 with 12 home runs, 39 RBI, and 15 stolen bases over 283 at-bats on the season.

Wed Jun 7 202301:51Julio Rodriguez Blasts 11th Long Ball Of The Season
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in a 4-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. J-Rod helped put the M's on the board in the top of the third inning when he singled with two outs to keep the inning alive. Ty France would knock in J.P. Crawford in the next at-bat to give Seattle their first run. He then added to Seattle's slim lead in the top of the eighth inning when he took relief pitcher Steven Wilson deep to the upper deck in left field with a 436-foot home run. Rodriguez has been hot over his last 15 contests, batting .349 with a .962 OPS and four home runs. For the season, the dynamic 22-year-old is slashing just .246/.304/.442 but does have 11 home runs, 33 RBI, and 12 stolen bases over 240 at-bats.

Tue May 30 202301:38Julio Rodriguez Stays Hot In Loss To The Yankees
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a strikeout in a 10-4 loss to the New York Yankees on Monday. The 22-year-old superstar took Domingo German deep to left-center field in the fourth inning for a solo blast that pulled the Mariners to within two runs. He victimized German again with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning. The rest of the M's lineup didn't do much outside of Rodriguez as they were blown out. After a slow month and a half to begin the season, Rodriguez has been on fire over the last two weeks. In the last seven contests, J-Rod is slashing a ridiculous .433/.433/.800 with three home runs, nine RBI, and one stolen base across 30 at-bats. Overall, Rodriguez owns a .247/.311/.451 batting line to go along with 10 home runs, 31 RBI, and nine stolen bases across 215 at-bats.

Sun May 21 202317:09Julio Rodriguez Continues To Struggle
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. The struggles continue for the reigning AL Rookie of the Year as he has just one hit over his last four contests. He's batting just .148 with a .503 OPS over his last seven contests and is slashing an ugly .204/.280/.376 on the season. He does have seven home runs, 21 RBI, and eight stolen bases but has struck out 57 times to just 17 walks over the M's first 44 games. He's fully capable of turning things around at any point but fantasy managers that used a top-five pick to select the dynamic 22-year-old cannot be happy with the early dividends, or lack thereof.

Fri May 12 202315:00Julio Rodriguez Hitting Third Friday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is starting in center field and is hitting third in the batting order on Friday against the Detroit Tigers and left-hander Matthew Boyd. The slumping Rodriguez was moved out of the leadoff spot for the first time this year and into the six-hole on Wednesday against a right-hander, but he'll move back up the order into a prime spot against a southpaw on Friday. The 22-year-old American League Rookie of the Year in 2022 hasn't really fared well at all so far in his sophomore season, as he's batting just .205 (30-for-146) with six home runs, six steals, 15 RBI and 22 runs scored in 35 games played. Against lefties he's been even worse, going 6-for-34 (.177) with three doubles and a home run in 38 plate appearances.

Wed May 10 202314:59Julio Rodriguez Dropped To Sixth In Batting Order
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is starting in center field on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, but he has been dropped to sixth in the batting order against right-hander Dane Dunning. Rodriguez has hit leadoff for the team in every other game he's played in this year, so this is a notable development as he continues to struggle at the plate after winning American League Rookie of the Year in 2022. The 22-year-old superstar is hitting just .204 (29-for-142) with six doubles, a triple, six home runs, 15 RBI, six stolen bases and 45 strikeouts in 34 games played. In the month of May he's been even worse, with just two hits and 11 strikeouts in 29 at-bats. With J-Rod in the six-hole Wednesday, shortstop J.P. Crawford is hitting leadoff for the M's.

Mon May 8 202314:35Julio Rodriguez Goes Deep In Win Over Astros
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a run scored, a walk and two strikeouts in Sunday's 3-1 win over the visiting Houston Astros. Rodriguez demolished his sixth round-tripper of the year, and he's now hitting .216 (29-for-134) with six doubles, a triple, six home runs, 15 RBI, six stolen bases, 21 runs scored and 40 stolen bases in 147 plate appearances and 32 games. The long ball was the 22-year-old's first since April 26, so hopefully he can start to pick things up at the plate. J-Rod entered Sunday's contest with a 1-for-17 stretch at the plate over five games. He's still hitting the ball hard, though, so he should break out of his slump sooner than later for fantasy managers.

Wed May 3 202318:23Julio Rodriguez Returning To The Lineup
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez (back) is in the starting lineup against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday. The 22-year-old was expected to return on Tuesday, but was a late scratch due to lingering back tightness. Rodriguez will now make his return to the field after a two-game absence. He'll bat leadoff and serve as the designated hitter versus lefty JP Sears. Fantasy managers should double check their lineups and make sure Rodriguez is back in there.

Tue May 2 202321:18Julio Rodriguez Scratched Tuesday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez (back) was scratched from Tuesday's batting order after he was originally included on the lineup card, as his back was still bothering him during warm-ups. The phenom has been out of action since leaving the game early on April 29 with back tightness, and clearly, he still needs more time until he's 100%. Rodriguez has gotten off to a slow start over 27 games, as he's sashing .239/.301/.442 with five homers, 18 runs, and 13 RBI while stealing six bases in ten attempts. It's disappointing news for fantasy managers, but hopefully, he'll be ready for Wednesday's contest against the Oakland Athletics. AJ Pollock took his spot in the lineup, batting eighth. The 35-year-old is in the midst of another down year with a .188 batting average and .438 OPS and is mostly irrelevant in fantasy.

Sun Apr 30 202313:36Julio Rodriguez Not In The Lineup Against Toronto
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays. J-Rod left Saturday's contest early with back tightness so it makes sense that the Mariners are going to be extra cautious with their 22-year-old phenom. He'll get an extra day off on Monday as well as the M's are traveling to Oakland to kick off a three-game set against their division rival. For now, it looks like a serious injury was avoided but fantasy managers will breathe a sigh of relief if Rodriguez is in the starting lineup on Tuesday.

Sat Apr 29 202318:13Julio Rodriguez Exits With Lower Back Tightness
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez (back) left Saturday's game due to lower back tightness. Rodriguez was replaced in the game in the sixth inning, though it was first unknown why. This update gives a clearer picture of what he is dealing with. The youngster has been struggling to start the year and now is dealing with an injury, but hopefully, it isn't anything serious. Consider him day-to-day for now and check back for another update on his condition.

Sat Apr 29 202316:39Julio Rodriguez Removed From Saturday's Game
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez was removed early during Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. It's uncertain what happened as Rodriguez was removed for A.J. Pollock in the sixth inning. The team hasn't given any information on why Rodriguez was taken out, so it's assumed he's dealing with some kind of injury. The Mariners are going to be extremely cautious with their superstar outfielder. Fantasy managers should expect another update on Rodriguez shortly.

Sun Apr 23 202321:09Julio Rodriguez Draws A Pair Of Walks In Sunday's Loss
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 0-for-2 with two walks and a strikeout in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. J-Rod and the Mariners didn't have much offense in Sunday's series finale as they struck out 14 times as a team and mustered just three runs. Rodriguez has reached base safely in 8-of-10 games, however, and owns a .245/.311/.447 batting line to go along with four home runs, 12 RBI, and five stolen bases across 94 at-bats. It's been a slow start for the 22-year-old All-Star but he's going to be just fine moving forward. The M's head hit the road this week to start a three-game series with the Phillies on Tuesday.

Mon Apr 3 202314:27Julio Rodriguez Goes Deep For First Time In 2023
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with his first home run of the 2023 season and two strikeouts in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Guardians in the series finale. Rodriguez hit a solo leadoff home run to begin the bottom of the first inning. The 22-year-old 2022 American League Rookie of the Year is off to a strong start in just his third MLB season, as he's gone 6-for-18 (.333) with two doubles, a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, a stolen base and six strikeouts in his first four games played. While Rodriguez could have his ups and downs as a maturing young player, but fantasy managers should be fully bought in on his high-level talent as a must-start.
