Fri Jun 9 202318:52Brent Rooker Not Playing On Friday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. This appears to be a routine rest day for the right-handed slugger. Rooker has cooled off quite a bit since his red-hot month of April. Now, he's slashing .263/.363/.505 with 12 homers and 36 RBI in 50 games this season. He's worth rostering due to his power numbers, but those have dipped in the month of May and June. Seth Brown will serve as the designated hitter and bat third versus right-hander Adrian Houser on Friday.

Tue May 30 202317:47Brent Rooker Remains Out Of The Lineup
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This marks the second day in a row that Rooker has sat out for rest purposes. He did pinch-hit during Monday's game, but was replaced on the bath paths after drawing a walk. That being said, possibly Rooker is dealing with an undisclosed injury. He has also slumped badly over the last month after his hot start to the season. Rooker is slashing .196/.284/.320 with two homers and 10 RBI in May. Ramon Laureano will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth versus right-hander Bryce Elder on Tuesday.

Mon May 29 202316:27Brent Rooker Absent On Monday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This appears to be a routine day off for Rooker who has struggled at the plate lately. He's slashing .196/.284/.320 with two homers and 10 RBI in 24 games in May. Hopefully, a rest day will help Rooker get back on track at the plate. Seth Brown will bat third and serve as the designated hitter versus right-hander Michael Soroka.

Wed May 24 202318:50Brent Rooker Absent On Wednesday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is absent from Wednesday's starting lineup versus the Seattle Mariners. The right-handed slugger started off red-hot to begin the season, but has cooled down lately. He's hitting .200 (16-for-80) with just two homers and a 30/10 K/BB in May. That being said, it's not shocking to see the A's giving him the night off to rest. Seth Brown will bat third and cover right field, while JJ Bleday plays left field versus right-hander Bryce Miller on Wednesday.

Sat May 13 202314:02Brent Rooker Not In Saturday's Lineup
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker is not in the lineup on Saturday against the Texas Rangers. Rooker has been a revelation for the lowly A's and fantasy managers that decided to add him to their rosters back in April. He slugged a walk-off home run in Friday's contest so the team is rewarding him with a day off on Saturday. For the year, the 28-year-old is slashing .319/.428/.673 with 11 home runs, 29 RBI, and a stolen base over 113 at-bats. He should be ready to rock for Sunday's series finale against Texas.

Tue May 9 202312:31Brent Rooker Continues To Get On Base
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker has been one of the few bright spots for the A's early in the 2023 season. In Monday's 7-2 loss to the New York Yankees in the Bronx, Rooker went 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. The 28-year-old is thriving in Oakland in his first year, as he's currently slashing .319 (30-for-94) and leads the league in on-base percentage (.441), slugging percentage (.681) and OPS (1.122) while also recording four doubles, 10 home runs, 26 RBI, a stolen base and 18 runs scored in 118 plate appearances and 29 games. These numbers aren't sustainable, but Rooker needs to continue being started in all fantasy leagues while he's producing. He has a current six-game streak of reaching base.

Fri Apr 21 202317:15Brent Rooker Returns To A's Lineup Friday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup on Friday against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Jon Gray, serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the lineup. Rooker hasn't played since leaving Tuesday's contest early with a hamstring injury, but the ailment wasn't serious enough to land him on the injured list. The 28-year-old outfielder has earned regular playing time early in 2023 by hitting .324 (12-for-37) with a double, four home runs, 11 RBI and five runs scored in 12 games played for the last-place A's. Rooker is worth rostering in deeper leagues while he's swinging it well, but there just isn't a ton of fantasy value here for the rebuilding A's.

Fri Apr 14 202301:00Brent Rooker Goes Deep Twice Thursday
Oakland Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker had a nice game Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a pair of homers in an 8-7 loss against the Baltimore Orioles. He drove in five runs while scoring a pair himself. Rooker homered off of Cole Irvin in the third inning, and then off Austin Voth in the fifth. Although he started the season as a bench player, the 28-year-old has now started three in a row and was hitting third in the lineup on Thursday. On a terrible Oakland team, he has a chance to be an everyday player if he can continue hitting. Based on his track record that doesn't seem likely, but in deeper leagues he is someone to watch.

Thu Nov 17 202218:34A's Claim Brent Rooker Off Waivers From Royals
The Oakland Athletics claimed outfielder Brent Rooker off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Thursday. The move comes after the Royals designated Rooker for assignment earlier this week. The 28-year-old played in two games with the San Diego Padres in 2022 before landing in Kansas City. In just 14 games with the Royals, he hit .160/.276/.200 with no home runs, two RBI and a run scored in 29 plate appearances. Rooker has a weak slash line of .200/.289/.379 with 10 home runs, 23 RBI and 30 runs scored in 270 plate appearances over 81 games in his three major-league seasons to this point. He'll be battling for a roster spot in spring training with the A's next year.

Thu Apr 7 202211:06Padres Acquire Taylor Rogers, Brent Rooker
The San Diego Padres acquired relief pitcher Taylor Rogers and outfielder Brent Rooker from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday in exchange for starting pitcher Chris Paddack and relief pitcher Emilio Pagan. Rogers, a 31-year-old left-hander, will likely become the new closer in San Diego, which is bad news for anyone that already drafted Robert Suarez. Rogers was a first-time All-Star in 2021, saving nine games while posting a 3.35 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 59 strikeouts in 40 1/3 relief innings. Back in Minnesota, fantasy managers should now expect some sort of closer committee, consisting of Tyler Duffey, Jorge Alcala, Caleb Thielbar and Pagan. Rooker could begin the year at Triple-A El Paso as outfield depth for the Friars.

Sat Sep 18 202110:53Brent Rooker Stays Hot In Friday's Win
Minnesota Twins outfielder Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and two RBI in Friday's victory over the Blue Jays. Rooker was a big part of his team's seven-run offensive output, as he got the scoring started with an RBI double in the second inning, then belted a solo homer in the sixth. The 26-year-old has slashed .320/.346/.640 with two homers, five RBI, and three runs scored in September. Rooker is making a case for himself as a mainstay in the Twins lineup next year, making him a potential redraft sleeper in 2022.

Wed Sep 8 202115:37Brent Rooker Swats Seventh Homer
Minnesota Twins outfielder Brent Rooker went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Tuesday's defeat of the Indians. Rooker extended the Twins lead to 2-0 with his seventh homer of the year in the seventh inning, a 421-foot blast that left his bat at 104.1 MPH. The 26-year-old is off to a strong start in September, as he's batting .400 with two runs scored, a homer, and an RBI in four contests. Rooker has been rather streaky this season, so it's best to avoid him in redraft formats this year, though he's one to keep an eye on, as he could earn a starting role in the Minnesota outfield in 2022.

Sat Aug 14 202109:18Brent Rooker Tallies Career-High Four Hits
Minnesota Twins outfielder Brent Rooker went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in Friday's loss to the Rays. Rooker's four hits were a career-high, as he became the fifth Twins player in the Statcast era with three-plus base hits at 105 MPH or harder in a game. It was a very impressive showing by the 26-year-old, who really needed it, as he was 0-for-15 with 10 strikeouts over his last four games. Rooker has pop in his bat, having clubbed 19 homers with a .546 slugging percentage at the Triple-A level this season, so perhaps this game will be a sign of things to come for him. Given the peaks and valleys in his play from July to August, he's more of a DFS option than a season-long asset.

Thu Jul 29 202102:14Late-scratch Judge hits tiebreaking single for Yanks in 10th
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Aaron Judge went from being a late scratch to hitting a tiebreaking single in a two-run 10th inning to help the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the second straight day, 3-1 on Wednesday night. Judge was taken out of the lineup about 30 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. Although no announcement was made about why, the All-Star right fielder struck out in the fifth pinch-hitting for Estevan Florial. Judge returned to the team Tuesday after going on the COVID-19 injured list July 16. New York also had a big night off the field. The Yankees reached a deal to get All-Star slugger Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers, a person familiar with the trade told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move had not yet been announced and was subject to approval of medical records of the players involved. Greg Allen was hit by a pitch from Pete Fairbanks (3-4) leading off the 10th, putting runners on first and second. Judge... [More]

CLEVELAND (AP) — Franmil Reyes homered twice, the first a second-inning blast that bounced out of Progressive Field and almost dinged a bicyclist pedaling on a street, and the Cleveland Indians beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 on Wednesday. Reyes’ leadoff homer in the second glanced off the pedestrian bridge in left field and landed on the plaza area between the ballpark and Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The ball traveled an estimated 446 feet. Reyes wasn’t done. He finished off Cleveland’s three-homer inning in the third with his 19th of the season, a 421-foot drive to center. César Hernández and José Ramírez also homered in the inning for Cleveland. Kwang Hyun Kim (6-6) gave up all four homers and lost for the first time since June 20. Wed Jul 28 202120:35Brent Rooker Stays Hot In Wednesday's Loss
Minnesota Twins outfielder Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a home run in a 17-14 loss to the Tigers Wednesday. Rooker clubbed a tape-measure shot, sending a ball 436 feet into the outfield seats at 110.1 MPH. The 26-year-old now has a hit in five straight games, with three homers during that stretch. Since being called up, he's made six consecutive starts for the Twins, carrying over his recent strong performances from the Triple-A level. Rooker is worth a look in deeper or AL-only formats for those in need of outfield help, as he has the potential to be a four-category contributor occupying a heart-of-the-order spot for Minnesota.
