Mon Sep 6 202117:34Alex Bregman Hopes To Extend Streak
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman will start and hit second Monday night against the Mariners. Bregman is working on a six-game hitting streak and is batting .363 during that span. The 27-year-old is getting on base but has only one extra-base hit (one double) in 33 at-bats since coming off the injured list with a strained quadriceps. Clearly, the young slugger is still rounding into shape at the plate and may not be a high-ceiling DFS choice until his power comes back.

Fri Sep 3 202117:28Alex Bregman Continues Strong Return
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman will try and stay hot at the plate heading into Friday night's action against the Padres. Since returning to lineup on August 25, the 27-year-old is 8-for-21 (.380) and at least one hit in every start except one. Bregman has picked up only one extra-base hit since his return but could be trying to get his legs under him before the power returns. Bregman is a dangerous hitter and should provide high-average offensive production until he starts hitting the ball out of the yard.

Mon Aug 30 202115:37Alex Bregman Hitting .357 Since Return
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is 5-for-14 (.357) in four games since returning to the lineup. Bregman had been on the shelf since June 16 with a left quadriceps injury and looks sharp at the plate. The 27-year-old has only one extra-base hit since his return but has scored three runs and has multiple hits in two of his first four games. The power shouldn't be too far behind and he will face Mariners projected starter, Chris Flexen, Monday night. It is a very small sample size but Bregman is 2-for-3 career against Flexen.

The 27-year-old has been out of the lineup since mid-June with a left quadricep injury. Bregman got in on the fun in the fourth inning by smacking his 15th double of the season, plating one run. Wed Aug 25 202112:14Alex Bregman Activated And Starting On Wednesday
The Houston Astros have activated third baseman Alex Bregman (quad) from the injured list. He is starting at third base and batting sixth in Wednesday's game against Mike Minor and the Kansas City Royals. The 27-year-old has been out since mid-June due to a left quadriceps strain. Bregman is clearly eager to get back on the field. On Wednesday morning, he tweeted out, "Hey y'all... it's been a while.... see y'all this afternoon." Fantasy managers can safely put Bregman back into their starting lineups. Over 59 games on the year, Bregman has a .275/.359/.428 slash line to go along with seven home runs, 34 RBI and 37 runs.

Wed Aug 25 202107:13Alex Bregman To Return To Action On Wednesday
Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker told the media on Tuesday night that third baseman Alex Bregman (quad) would make his return in Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Bregman has been out since mid-June due to a quadriceps injury. He appeared in 10 games at Triple-A while rehabbing the injury and he slashed .235/.381/.382 with one home run over the 10 games. His return is welcome news for fantasy managers who had to be patient during the All-Star's extended absence. Over 59 games on the year, Bregman has slashed .275/.359/.428 with seven home runs, 34 RBI and 37 runs.

Tue Aug 24 202121:04Alex Bregman Expected To Be Activated Soon
Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman (hamstring, quad) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list within the next day or two. He's been sidelined since mid-June with a quadriceps injury. The 27-year-old completed a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land and returned to Houston to work out with the Astros on Tuesday. Bregman could be activated ahead of Wednesday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals. The Astros' third baseman slashed .275/.359/.428 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored, and one stolen base over 262 plate appearances before landing on the injured list.

Mon Aug 23 202118:36Alex Bregman To Be Evaluated On Tuesday
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring, quadriceps) is expected to be evaluated by the team on Tuesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reported on Monday. Bregman has been sidelined since mid-June with a quadriceps injury and has suffered multiple setbacks during his rehab because of a hamstring issue. While an evaluation usually means a player is close to being activated, it seems that it may still be a couple more days before Bregman is officially activated from the injured list. The slugging third baseman has been out since mid-June with a quadriceps strain and hamstring issue, so fantasy managers may want to temper expectations when he returns.

Sun Aug 22 202115:15Alex Bregman To Play Another Rehab Game Monday
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring, quad) will play another rehab game at Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. This is disappointing news, as it had been reported just yesterday that he could be activated as soon as Monday. He's been out of action since mid-June, and has only appeared in 59 games this season where he's slashing .275/.359/.428 with seven homers, one steal, 34 RBI and 37 runs scored. Hopefully he'll be able to return to action later this week, and managers should continue to keep an eye out for further updates on his condition.

Sat Aug 21 202113:41Alex Bregman Could Be Activated By Monday
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring, quad) is expected to be activated from the injured list soon possibly as early as Sunday or Monday, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Bregman has been out of action since mid-June with a hamstring strain, and has since suffered several setbacks in his rehab. It appears though that he's finally ready to rejoin the Astros, as managers are eagerly awaiting the return of his bat to their lineup. Over 59 games this season, Bregman is slashing .275/.359/.428 with seven homers, one steal, 34 RBI and 37 runs scored. Keep an eye out for further updates over the next 48 hours, but be prepared for his return very soon.

Fri Aug 20 202118:19Alex Bregman Resumes Rehab Assignment On Friday
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring, quad) is slated to resume his rehab assignment on Friday. Bregman has been out of Houston's lineup since mid-June with a quadricep strain and his most recent setback in rehabilitation was due to hamstring soreness. Fantasy managers are no doubt disappointed, given the 27-year-old was hitting .275/.359/.428 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, one stolen base, and 37 runs scored on 63 hits this season. However, given his missed time and rehab setbacks, it may be better to move on from him for the time being.

Sun Aug 15 202116:36Alex Bregman Still Not Playing, Unclear When He'll Return
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring) remains without a timetable for a return to action in his minor league rehab assignment, according to Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle. General manager James Click said that it is uncertain when he'll next take the field, adding that the team is focusing on Bregman's leg strength before they worry about his hitting. Bregman has been out since mid-June with a hamstring strain, and has suffered several setbacks in his rehab to this point. There's no indication when he'll return, and it's entirely possible the Astros may decide to shut him down for the year at some point given how close we are to the end of the regular season. For now managers have to continue to keep him stashed on the injured list.

Tue Aug 10 202114:09Alex Bregman Not Ready To Return
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring) will not be activated today and will need at least another week until he comes off the injured list, according to Astros manager Dusty Baker. Bregman has been out since June 16 but has played in seven rehab games recently. He is taking some days off for treatment and afterward, he will continue his rehab assignment. Before being sidelined, he was slashing .275/.359/.428 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, 37 runs, and one stolen base. Once he returns, hopefully, he will increase his power output, closer to his career .512 slugging.

Wed Aug 4 202108:05Alex Bregman Doubles In His Return To Action At Triple-A
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring) returned to action for Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday and went on to go 1-for-2 with a double. He was expected to play a full game on Tuesday, but the game was postponed after four innings due to rain. Bregman was removed from his previous rehab game on Sunday for what the organization has called precautionary reasons. He also sat out Monday's game. Bregman has been out since mid-June, but he is inching closer to a return. He could be back with the Astros by the end of the week, assuming he has no setbacks.

Mon Aug 2 202110:34Alex Bregman Pulled Early During Rehab Game
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring) was removed early during Sunday's rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land. It sounds like he was removed from the game as a precaution. Bregman should return in a day or two, but this could push back his return date to the big league roster. The hope was that Bregman could return to the Astros on August 5, but we'll see if that happens. He was originally on the rehab assignment for a quad issue, but this might set him back a few more days.

Mon Jul 19 202103:11White Sox rebound against Astros in possible playoff preview
In a matchup between two of the American League's top teams, Lucas Giolito and Carlos Rodón helped the Chicago White Sox fight back against Houston's powerful offense. Giolito pitched a three-hitter in Chicago's 10-1 victory Saturday, then Rodón allowed one hit in seven innings Sunday as the White Sox blanked Houston 4-0. Those two victories came after the Astros swept a four-game series against the White Sox last month and beat Chicago 7-1 on Friday night. The White Sox (56-36) now have the best record in the American League, and they lead the AL Central by eight games. Houston (56-38) has a 3 1/2-game advantage atop the AL West. The Astros lead the major leagues in runs despite Alex Bregman's injury problems and George Springer's offseason departure. Houston finished the 2020 regular season with a sub-.500 record but still came within a victory of reaching the World Series thanks to the expanded playoffs. The Astros again look formidable this year. If they face Chicago in the playoffs,... [More]
Fri Jul 16 202119:21Astros activate All-Star SS Carlos Correa from IL
CHICAGO (AP) — The Houston Astros have activated All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa from the injured list. Correa was placed on the IL last week due to health and safety protocols. He skipped Tuesday's All-Star game so he could spend time with his wife, Daniella, who is expecting the couple’s first child. Correa is batting .288 with 16 homers and 52 RBIs heading into Houston's weekend series against the Chicago White Sox. “We're happy to have him back. ... This guy's a heck of a player, and sometime you just take it for granted until they're gone,” manager Dusty Baker said. Houston also activated right-hander Austin Pruitt from the 60-day IL. Pruitt was acquired in a January 2020 trade with Tampa Bay, but he missed last season with an elbow injury. “We'll see what we have. Like I said, I've never seen him pitch in person,” Baker said. “It's my understanding that he throws strikes. He throws quality strikes. He'll probably be in more of a low-leverage situation because he hasn't been out there... [More]
Thu Jul 15 202117:30Baker settles in with Astros in second season in Houston
HOUSTON (AP) — Dusty Baker never felt quite right while navigating his first season as manager of the Houston Astros during last year’s pandemic-shortened campaign. “I felt like a substitute teacher,” Baker said. Now, halfway through his second season in Houston, he has settled in, and the Astros are tied for the second-best record in the American League as they come out of the All-Star break. “This year I feel like the teacher,” he said. “I feel like I’m one of them.” Baker was already playing catch-up in getting to know his team last season before the pandemic hit. He was hired only about two weeks before the start of spring training to replace A.J. Hinch, who was fired after being a suspended by Major League Baseball for a year for his role in the team’s sign-stealing scandal. “We had spring training, I was learning them, they were learning me and then we had the stoppage,” Baker said. “Then we had to come back right quick and then we only had 60 games and there wasn’t time for that... Thu Jun 17 202118:48Houston 3B Bregman placed on injured list with quad strain
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston third baseman Alex Bregman was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a strained left quadriceps. Bregman was injured in the first inning of a win against Texas on Wednesday night while running to first base when he grounded into a double play. He pulled up a few steps before first base and hobbled off the field after the play before heading to the clubhouse. Astros manager Dusty Baker said there isn't currently a timetable for his return. “We really don’t know,” Baker said. “He’s being evaluated by doctors today. Even when they do tell us, to tell you how long it’s going to be, it’s merely a guess." Bregman is hitting .275 with seven homers and 34 RBIs this season. Catcher Garrett Stubbs was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to take his spot on the roster. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
