Byrd went 4-for-5 on Sunday, hitting a double and knocking in one run while scoring a run himself in a victory over the Rockies.
Byrd, like much of the Giants' bats, had been struggling at the plate as of late, recording just three hits in his last 23 at-bats. He exceeded that total in one game, breaking out of his slump in a big way as the Giants beat up on the Rockies' pitchers throughout the contest. He's found a home in the middle of the batting order and it doesn't appear as if he will relinquish his starting spot in the outfield anytime soon with Nori Aoki (concussion) and Hunter Pence (oblique) unlikely to rejoin the squad in the coming days.
Sat Sep 5 201517:36Byrd not in lineup for Saturday's game against Rockies
Byrd is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.
He will join Buster Posey, Brandon Belt, and Nori Aoki on the bench, with manager Bruce Bochy evidently deciding he needs to hit the reset button with some of his main offensive contributions after dropping seven straight. Gregor Blanco gets the start in right field.

Byrd went 3-for-4, hitting two doubles, a triple and driving in four runs in a loss on Sunday.
Byrd has been on a mini-tear as of late, reaching base safely in five of his last six games. While he's just 7-for-22 (.318) during that time, five of those seven hits were of the extra-base variety (two doubles, triple, two home runs) and he's driven in 11 runs. While Angel Pagan (knee) and Hunter Pence (oblique) should rejoin the club in the coming days, Byrd could still find semi-regular time if he continues his hot streak at the plate.
Sat Aug 29 201502:01Byrd 1-5 with grand-slam in 5-4 win over Cardinals on Friday
Byrd went 1-for-5 with a grand-slam in a 5-4 win over the Cardinals on Friday.
Byrd was fortunate to even bat in the inning, as two of the base runners were put on by errors. In any case, he showed why the Giants wanted him as a post-trade deadline acquisition and it's something they desperately need. Recent injuries to Hunter Pence, Angel Pagan, and Norchika Aoki should open up plenty of playing time for Byrd going forward, although Aoki returned Friday night.

Byrd hit a three-run homer, drew a walk and scored two runs in Thursday's win over the Cubs.
The veteran is now with his ninth MLB franchise, so he gets to play his old teams pretty often; that makes it hard to refer to them as revenge games at this point. Nonetheless, things are going pretty well with the Giants so far, as he's 6-for-23 (.261) with a pair of homers and three walks in his first six games, though he's also struck out 10 times in that span. That's a troubling whiff rate, but it's also pretty much Byrd's game at this point in his career -- swing for the fences ever time up.

Byrd enjoyed his Giants debut going 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in San Francisco's win over the Pirates on Friday night.
Coming over from the Reds, Byrd was acquired to add a little pop to the middle of the Giants' lineup, and he did just that. He hit fifth, between Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford, which would be a nice spot if he can hold it. He's hitting a lackluster .242, but now has 20 home runs. However, now playing half his games in a more pitcher-friendly park could cost him a bit of that power.
Fri Aug 21 201516:39Byrd will start in right field Friday in Giants debut
Byrd will start in right field Friday in his Giants debut.
Byrd played mainly left field with the Reds, but will likely receive most of his action in right with the Giants. The veteran outfielder hasn't hit very well overall (.237/.286/.734 batting line with the Reds), but will provide a power source in the middle of the Giants lineup.
Thu Aug 20 201516:34Marlon Byrd: Traded To The Giants
Byrd was traded from the Reds to the Giants on Thursday.
Byrd will provide the Giants with some added depth in the outfield following Hunter Pence's placement on the disabled list Thursday. Byrd played mostly in left field with the Reds, but either he or Norichika Aoki will likely slide to right field to keep both bats in the lineup. In return, the Giants received Double-A pitching prospect Stephen Johnson.

The Cincinnati Reds traded outfielder Marlon Byrd to the San Francisco Giants on Thursday for pitching prospect Stephen Johnson, according to ESPN.
The Cincinnati Reds traded outfielder Marlon Byrd to the San Francisco Giants on Thursday for pitching prospect Stephen Johnson, according to ESPN. Byrd will provide outfield depth after Hunter Pence was placed on the disabled Thursday because of an oblique strain.
Wed Aug 19 201515:39Byrd out of lineup Wednesday against Royals
Byrd is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Royals, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Byrd has gone just 4-for-25 over the last six contests, but he'll get a day off Wednesday to clear his head. Skip Shoemaker will replace him in left field Wednesday, batting eighth for the Reds.
Tue Aug 11 201517:41Byrd not in lineup for Tuesday's game against Padres
Byrd is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.
Skip Schumaker will take over in left field, with the 37-year-old Byrd getting what looks like a routine day off after 12 straight starts. Byrd has homered just once so far this month, but is still on pace to exceed his career high of 25 home runs from a year ago.

Byrd went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer and two runs scored Saturday in Arizona.
The veteran outfielder is having an excellent first season in Cincinnati, with 19 home runs in just 86 games played. Byrd's owners had to expect solid power after he averaged 24.5 long balls per season over the last two years, but he's taken his late-career surge to a whole new level in 2015. His .475 slugging percentage easily compensates for a mediocre .245 average, and playing home games at Great American Ball Park should allow Byrd to continue ripping home runs at a tremendous rate.

Byrd was ejected in Sunday's loss against the Pirates for his part in a benches-clearing kerfuffle with the Pirates.
Byrd was hit by a Joe Blanton pitch on Saturday, which might have precipitated Andrew McCutchen getting hit Sunday. The Pirates finally answered in kind, hitting Brandon Phillips, which led to both benches clearing, a bunch of pushing and shouting, of which Byrd was an active participant. It's possible a suspension could be levied, but judging by the ferocity of the confrontation (or lack thereof), it seems unlikely.

Byrd set the tone for the Reds win over the Pirates on Thursday by hitting a three-run homer against former teammate A.J. Burnett in the first inning.
The shot was his 17th of the season. We might hear Byrd's name get called before Friday's non-waiver trade deadline, though it's possible he could slip through waivers and still get dealt in August.
Wed Jul 29 201516:27Byrd back in lineup Wednesday against Cardinals
Byrd is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Byrd was left out of the lineup Tuesday in favor of Jason Bourgeois, but he'll be back in action for Wednesday's contest. He'll bat fifth against Cardinals righty John Lackey. Byrd has excellent career numbers against Lackey, as he's gone 10-for-29 with two home runs, two doubles, and eight RBI.

Byrd went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored in a 6-5 loss to the Rockies.
Byrd has been fantastic over the last 52 games, hitting over .300 with 14 home runs. The rough start depleted his numbers, but it's clear he's back into power-hitting form. Look for him to continue his strong stretch as he faces Chris Rusin and Kyle Kendrick over the next two games in Coors Field.

Byrd is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Cubs, according to MLB.com's Jamie Ramsey.
Byrd went just 2-for-19 over his last four games, so manager Bryan Price decided to hold him out of the first game Wednesday. Byrd will likely return to action for the second game of Wednesday's double dip.

Byrd was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run in Cincinnati's win over the Indians on Friday night.
He doesn't hit for a great average (.253) but he has 15 home runs and 33 RBI while adding another potentially dangerous bat to the middle of the Reds' lineup. He serves basically the same role for his fantasy owners.

Byrd went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in Saturday's loss to the Brewers.
Byrd has a nine-game hitting streak and four home runs since being activated from the DL June 19. Better yet, he has just nine strikeouts in 58 at-bats (16%) after striking out in 28 percent of his at-bats before his wrist injury.
Fri Jun 26 201515:46Byrd not in lineup Friday
Byrd is not in the lineup Friday, the C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
After Thursday's extended game where Byrd saw seven at-bats the Reds opted to give him some rest Friday. He has two home runs in his last six games and remains a source of cheap power. Chris Dominguez will get the start in left Friday.
