Furbush, who is working his way back from an episode of tendinitis, used the session as a means of gauging his health, and after experiencing no out-of-the-ordinary pain, he'll attempt to up his pitch count and throw off a mound again Thursday. He could be ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment by the weekend.

Furbush was a victim of bad defense, as Robinson Cano made an error and then misplayed another grounder that put two on. A groundball up the middle scored a run before Furbush was pulled. In his previous seven outings this season, Furbush allowed two hits and one walk.

Furbush recorded three outs in his seventh scoreless appearance of the season Monday against the Astros.

While he may offer some value in leagues that reward holds, Furbush does more for the Mariners as a piece of their relief corps. He's now carrying a 4:1 K:BB over 4.1 innings this season. Don't be surprised if his usage this season mirrors the plan from 2014 when he tossed 42.1 innings over 67 trips to the mound for Seattle.

Furbush is one of two lefty-specialists in the Mariners bullpen, though he's actually faced 10 more right-handed batters than lefties. The Mariners' bullpen has been so good that Furbush's 3.96 ERA, which isn't that bad (albeit in a typically small sample) is the worst of the bunch.
