Sat Aug 20 202211:09George Springer Out Again Saturday Against Yankees
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (knee) remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the New York Yankees. Springer has missed the last two games after fouling a ball off his knee on Thursday. The 32-year-old had five hits in that game, though, and he's now slashing .267/.343/.477 with an .821 OPS, 18 home runs, 51 RBI, 64 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 352 at-bats. Considered him day-to-day for now and get him back into your lineups immediately when he returns. Jackie Bradley Jr. is starting in center field and batting ninth on Saturday against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole. Bradley has one hit in six at-bats in his first seven games with Toronto, and he's hitting .209 on the year with only three home runs in 98 games. Avoid him in DFS against Cole.

Fri Aug 19 202218:17George Springer Out Of Lineup Friday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (knee) is not in the lineup Friday after fouling a ball off his knee in Thursday's game against the New York Yankees. Springer has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the last few years, and although this doesn't sound like a serious injury, the Jays will likely take every precaution to ensure their star outfielder is healthy down the stretch. Springer is having a productive fantasy season, slashing .267/.343/.477 with 18 homers and 10 swipes. Expect the five-category production to continue when Springer gets back in the lineup, which could be as soon as Saturday. Whit Merrifield will take over Springer in centerfield tonight.

Fri Aug 19 202211:44George Springer Has Five-Hit Performance
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer has been on fire with the bat since returning from the injured list. He went 5-for-5 with an RBI during Thursday's victory over the New York Yankees. The 32-year-old was one hit shy of his career high, but it was still an outstanding performance by Springer. The right-hander slugger is 9-for-14 since coming off the injured list. He sounds like a strong DFS right now and should remain in the starting lineup in all fantasy leagues.

Wed Aug 17 202214:36George Springer Not Starting Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer isn't in the team's starting lineup for a matchup with the Baltimore Orioles and right-handed pitcher Austin Voth on Wednesday. Instead, it'll be Raimel Tapia starting in center field and hitting seventh against Voth and the Orioles. The 28-year-old is currently hitting .274 with a .296 on-base percentage, five home runs and five stolen bases in 312 plate appearances this season. He's worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.

Mon Aug 15 202215:09George Springer Activated From Injured List
The Toronto Blue Jays activated outfielder George Springer (elbow) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Bradley Zimmer for assignment in a corresponding move. Springer will be active for Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, but it remains to be seen if he'll be in the starting lineup against right-hander Kyle Bradish. The 32-year-old has been dealing with a nagging elbow injury, but when he's back in the lineup, he should be returned to all fantasy lineups in single-year formats. Before landing on the injured list, Springer was hitting .251/.331/.464 with 18 home runs, 49 RBI, 59 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 338 at-bats.

Fri Aug 12 202218:52George Springer Begins Hitting, Throwing
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) has been hitting and is expected to begin throwing Friday. Springer has been on the IL since August 5th, although he's been dealing with the issue since late July. The hope is that his stint on the injured list will at least allow Springer to feel less pain when he plays. He could return early next week if all goes well. The fantasy stud has a .251 AVG, 18 HR, 59 R, 49 RBI, and 10 SB in 338 AB. He should remain a solid five-category contributor at the top of a strong Blue Jays lineup. Be on the lookout for updates on Springer early next week.

Thu Aug 4 202217:03George Springer Returns Against Twins
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) is back in the starting lineup on Thursday against Minnesota Twins right-hander Sonny Gray, serving as the designated hitter while manning his usual leadoff spot in the batting order. Springer will return to action after missing four of the team's last five games with a lingering elbow injury. While the Blue Jays are easing him back in as the DH, the 32-year-old should be returned to all fantasy lineups in single-year leagues. In just six games played since the All-Star break, Springer has gone 7-for-26 (.269) with a homer, five RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base. Overall, his line stands at .251/.330/.467 with 18 home runs, 47 RBI, 58 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 334 at-bats.

Wed Aug 3 202211:07George Springer Still Out Against Rays
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be the fourth time that Springer has sat out in the team's last five games, leaving some to wonder if his elbow injury is much more serious than the team is letting on. For now, fantasy managers have to consider him day-to-day while keeping him on their benches. Raimel Tapia is back in center field and is hitting ninth on Wednesday against Rays left-hander Jalen Beeks. Tapia is swinging the bat well this year, but he's not as strong against lefties while hitting from the left side of the plate. He's gone 10-for-38 (.263) against southpaws in 2022 with only one of his five home runs.

Springer is slashing an impressive .251/.330/.467 with 18 homers, 47 RBI, 35 walks, 72 strikeouts, and 10 stolen bases. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. will occupy the leadoff spot in his absence while Raimel Tapia patrols center field. As soon as Springer is healthy again, he belongs in your fantasy lineup.

Sun Jul 31 202210:58George Springer Out Of The Lineup Sunday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers. Springer missed Friday's game with a minor elbow injury, but he returned on Saturday and went 0-for-3 with a run scored and a walk. He'll get a normal day of rest on Sunday in the series finale. Raimel Tapia will once again fill in for him in center field and will hit eighth against Tigers right-hander Garrett Hill. Tapia doesn't have a ton of power and isn't a high-upside DFS play at the bottom of the batting order, but he's been swinging a strong bat all season, slashing .284/.306/.410 with five home runs, 36 RBI, 30 runs scored and five stolen bases in 261 at-bats for Toronto.

Springer is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff, while Bichette is at shortstop while hitting cleanup. Springer and Bichette both missed Friday's loss, but there injuries were never serious and they will both only miss one game. Fantasy managers should return them both to their starting lineups. Springer is hitting. 254 with 18 homers, 47 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the year, while Bichette is hitting .261 with 14 long balls, 53 RBI and seven stolen bases in 410 at-bats.

Fri Jul 29 202216:04George Springer Not Starting Friday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Detroit Tigers. Springer left the game early on Thursday with right elbow discomfort, but he also said he felt fine, insinuating that his injury isn't all that serious. It sounds like the Blue Jays are just giving him an extra rest, so we should see Springer again at some point this weekend. Springer will be available off the bench on Friday. Raimel Tapia is starting in center field and batting seventh on Friday against Tigers right-hander Bryan Garcia. Tapia doesn't have a whole lot of power, but he's been swinging a hot bat in 2022 and has gone 19-for-47 (.404) with two home runs, 14 RBI, a steal and seven runs scored in 15 games in July.

He exited early after a swing in the eighth inning. The 32-year-old went 1-for-5 with a run and two strikeouts before leaving. He was replaced in the game by Raimel Tapia. Springer has once again provided power and speed to fantasy lineups, slashing .258/.336/.481 with 47 RBI and 10 stolen bases. He should be in fantasy managers' lineups at all times as long as he can stay healthy.

Springer missed the final game of the first half of the season last week and sat out during Friday's 28-5 drubbing of the Red Sox as well. He should be well rested and ready to rock against Boston starter Kutter Crawford. Springer is slashing .250/.330/.474 with 17 home runs, 42 RBI, and nine stolen bases across 308 at-bats this season.

Fri Jul 15 202208:35George Springer Will Skip All-Star Game To Rest Elbow
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) has chosen not to play in this year's All-Star game. Instead, he is going to use the break to rest his sore right elbow. Springer made this announcement on Thursday, stating "Our team comes first." The 32-year-old first injured his elbow back on June 21. He missed three games with the injury, but didn't land on the injured list. He's been playing through the ailment ever since and he's been struggling at the plate all the while. He's slashed just .178/.260/.378 in July. Hopefully, he can use the extra rest next week to help get himself back on track for the second half of the year.

Thu Jul 7 202219:09George Springer Out Again Thursday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners. Springer will start on the bench for the second straight game, but there hasn't been any word that he's injured. He's hitting just .195 (16-for-82) with 15 strikeouts in 22 games over the last 28 days, so perhaps the Blue Jays just want to give him a break to clear his head. Overall, the 32-year-old is slashing .248/.331/.471 with an .802 OPS, 15 home runs, 38 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases, and he remains a must-start in fantasy when he's on the field. Bradley Zimmer is starting in center field and is hitting ninth against Mariners left-hander Marco Gonzales on Thursday.

Sat Jun 25 202214:25George Springer Out Again Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Springer left the game early on Tuesday with left elbow pain, and he hasn't played since. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. The 32-year-old is an everyday player in fantasy when healthy, and hopefully he won't require a trip to the injured list and can return at some point this weekend. Raimel Tapia is getting another start in center field and will bat sixth on Saturday against Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes. Tapia gives fantasy managers very modest production across the board, but he has gone 13-for-41 (.317) with a homer, five RBI and one stolen base in 11 games over the last two weeks for Toronto.

Fri Jun 24 202218:57George Springer Remains Out Friday But Could Pinch Hit
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) remains out Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he could be available to pinch hit. That is awesome news, as Springer has had his injury problems in the past, and fantasy managers had to be worried that this latest injury could be a long one. Springer was taken out of Tuesday's game early and didn't play in Wednesday's game with right elbow discomfort. Springer has also been dealing with a sore wrist. Such is life with the 32-year-old, who will provide big numbers when healthy, but he is one of the most at-risk players in terms of injuries. It sounds like he is likely to avoid an injured list stint and could return soon, so keep an eye on his status.
