It was Ventura's first win since July 9 and the first time the Royals have won a game he started since July 8. Ventura has allowed at least four runs in four consecutive starts, but Sunday's marked his first quality start since he gave up one run in six innings of work on July 24.

Machado then threw off his helmet, raced to the mound and fired a hard right that appeared to hit Ventura's face.Ventura, who had gotten rid of his cap and glove, then tackled Machado while both benches and bullpens emptied with lots of pushing and shoving for several minutes.The umpires tossed both Machado and Ventura, and Baltimore's next two batters -- Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis -- answered back with home runs off Chien-Ming Wang to give the Orioles an 8-1 lead.
