Rays optioned LHP Alex Torres to Triple-A Durham.
That was fast. Torres didn't fare well in his major league debut Monday night against the Yankees, allowing one hit and three walks in the top of the ninth. He took the loss for walking in the go-ahead run. The 23-year-old will be back eventually, but some more work on the minor league level wouldn't hurt.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said Alex Torres will begin the season as a starter at Triple-A instead of competing for a bullpen spot.
