Red Sox optioned OF Alex Hassan to Triple-A Pawtucket; reassigned 1B/OF Mark Hamilton and to minor league camp.
Hassan, who turns 25 in April, is in the process of ramping up his rehab following a stress fracture in his left foot. He was added to the 40-man roster over the winter after batting .256/.377/.365 with seven homers and a .743 OPS last season with the PawSox.

Alex Hassan (foot) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.
Hassan has been sidelined since the start of camp with a "stress reaction" in his left foot. The Red Sox are hoping he can return to game action sometime in mid-March. If he can make it through the spring healthy, Hassan should open 2013 at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Red Sox prospect outfielder Alex Hassan has a stress fracture in his left foot and won't be ready for the start of camp.
Hassan, who turns 25 in April, was added to the 40-man roster over the winter after batting .256/.377/.365 with seven homers and a .743 OPS last season with Triple-A Pawtucket. He figures to head back to Triple-A to begin 2013.
