Thu Mar 10 201123:37Mora still shaken by Monday car accident
Melvin Mora acknowledged Thursday that he is still a bit shaken by his Monday car accident.
"It was crazy; it was scary," said Mora. The veteran third baseman was doing 60 MPH on an Arizona highway when a car driving over 100 MPH rammed into him from behind. "I thought somebody fell from the bridge because it hit the back of the car so hard," Mora continued. "They tried to find out if he was in a hurry to go to the hospital or what." The Diamondbacks will probably keep him out of Cactus League games until next week.

Tue Mar 8 201115:07Mora out another week due to car crash
Melvin Mora could miss another week due to injuries related to his Monday car accident.
While far from serious, issues like whiplash and neck soreness don't really come with a recovery timetable. The D'Backs will simply take a day-to-day approach with their veteran third baseman until he reports feeling better.

Mon Mar 7 201113:11Mora struck from behind in car accident
Melvin Mora was struck from behind in a car accident Monday and is likely to sit out a few games.
The veteran infielder will probably wake up with a bit of soreness on Tuesday and the D'Backs want to give him enough time to recover. Mora is expected to start at the hot corner this season in Arizona. He posted a healthy .285/.358/.421 slash line, seven homers and 45 RBI over 316 at-bats for the Rockies in 2010.

Mon Dec 6 201015:44D'Backs, Mora agree to one-year, $2.4M deal
Diamondbacks signed 3B Melvin Mora to a one-year, $2.4 million contract.
Mora will take over starting third base duties for the Diamondbacks. He's well past his prime, but the veteran turned in a solid 285/.358/.421 batting line, seven home runs, 12 doubles and 45 RBI over 316 at-bats in 2010 for the Rockies and should hit well at Chase Field. He should make for a good sleeper in NL-only fantasy leagues and deeper mixed formats.
Mon Dec 6 201014:08Mora, D'Backs agree to one-year, $2M deal
Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that Melvin Mora will get a one-year, $2 million contract from the Diamondbacks.
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reported it as a two-year, $4 million pact. Perhaps there's an option included. Mora is likely to start at third base next year for Arizona and may be a sleeper in some AL-only leagues. He finished the 2010 season with a solid .285/.358/.421 batting line, seven home runs, 12 doubles and 45 RBI over 316 at-bats.

Mon Dec 6 201013:42D'Backs reach two-year, $4M deal with Mora
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Diamondbacks have signed free agent infielder Melvin Mora to a two-year, $4 million deal.
That was quick. The D'Backs agreed to trade Mark Reynolds to the Orioles only a few hours ago and have already locked up a replacement. Mora is 38 years old, but he still moves well and managed a decent .285/.358/.421 batting line as the Rockies' primary utilityman in 2010.

Mon Dec 6 201012:33D'Backs in touch with free agent Melvin Mora
Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks have been in touch with free agent Melvin Mora.
Mora registered a quality .285/.358/.421 batting line as a utilityman for the Rockies in 2010. He's expressed interest in returning to Colorado, but the D'Backs may be willing to offer him a starting job at third base in the wake of Monday's Mark Reynolds trade. Mora should come cheap.

Wed Nov 3 201021:35Mora hoping to return to Rox next season
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, free agent Melvin Mora is hoping to return to the Rockies next season.
Mora posted a fine .285/.358/.421 batting line in limited action for the Rox this season, but their middle infield is crowded and may get even more crowded during the offseason. The 38-year-old has expressed a desire to play often in 2011 and the Rockies won't be able to satisfy that.

Melvin Mora is starting at third base against the Giants on Friday night.
Ian Stewart was activated from the disabled list Thursday, and even appeared as a pinch-hitter Thursday, but Mora is simply hitting too well to sit down right now. That could change at any moment, of course.

Sat Sep 18 201020:01Mora hits grand slam, drives in five in win
Melvin Mora went 4-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBI in a blowout win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Mora's grand slam capped a six-run eighth inning for the Rockies. It was his second four-hit game of the season and his fifth multi-hit game in his last seven. Ian Stewart will probably be back soon, but with his multi-position eligibility, Mora could be a sneaky temporary play as a MI option.

Melvin Mora belted a grand slam in the Rockies' 6-2 win over the Mets.
The Rockies entered the eighth inning trailing 2-1 but scored five runs that inning, with Mora's blast being the big blow. It was his third home run of the year, and he has hit .281 with 25 RBI in 196 at-bats.
Tue Jul 20 201021:47Mora's five RBI leads Rockies in blowout win
Melvin Mora went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, three runs scored and five RBI in Tuesday's 10-0 victory over the Marlins.
Where did this come from? Mora, batting third for the second time this season, had hit .227/.320/.300 in 126 plate appearances since May 1, but led Tuesday's flogging of poor Marlins starter Nate Robertson. Despite the big day, the 38-year-old Mora is of little value outside of deep NL-only leagues.

Wed May 12 201017:13Mora has glute injury, called day-to-day
