Wed Nov 13 201312:43Jerome Simpson expected to play
Coach Leslie Frazier now expects Jerome Simpson to play Sunday despite DUI charges.
As with most cases, the NFL will let the court system run its course before any discipline is imposed. Frazier did say that he isn't sure yet if Simpson will start. The Vikings should be doing everything they can to get Cordarrelle Patterson more snaps at the expense of Simpson anyway.

Tue Nov 12 201316:25Frazier unsure of Jerome Simpson's status
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier is unsure if Jerome Simpson will be active for Week 11 after being arrested on drunk driving charges over the weekend.
"We'll have further clarification as we learn more from the league as well as what we're going to do internally," Frazier said Tuesday. "But from my standpoint there isn't a whole lot more that I can add regarding his situation as we are continuing to gather more information." For what it's worth, Simpson expects to be active. No stranger to off-the-field issues, Simpson has produced a decent amount on it this season, catching 33 passes for 491 yards.

Sat Nov 9 201311:37Vikings WR Jerome Simpson popped for DWI
Jerome Simpson was arrested for driving while intoxicated Saturday morning.
Simpson was booked at the Hennepin County jail at 5:39 this morning. He reportedly refused a breathalyzer and was arrested for "probable cause." Simpson will be held for 36 hours and because it's the weekend, Simpson could be there until noon on Tuesday. The Vikings played Thursday night, so he's not in danger of missing game action. Simpson has a felony drug plea on his record.

Fri Nov 8 201300:40Jerome Simpson has four-catch evening
Jerome Simpson caught four passes for 45 yards in Minnesota's Week 10 win over the Redskins.
The four catches were Simpson's most since Week 5, while the yards were his most since Minnesota triumphed over Pittsburgh in London in September. That should tell you all you need to know about Simpson's fantasy value in Minnesota's scattershot offense.

Sun Nov 3 201317:42Simpson catches two passes in Week 9 loss
Jerome Simpson caught two passes for 24 yards in Week 9 against the Cowboys.
Simpson was targeted five times on the day but hasn't topped 32 yards receiving in a game in four weeks and has yet to score this season. Cordarrelle Patterson saw four targets and caught three passes. He may start seeing more and more snaps in two-wide sets opposite Greg Jennings. After eight games, Simpson is on pace for 892 scoreless yards on 58 catches. He's a low-end WR4.

Mon Oct 28 201300:41Jerome Simpson limited to one catch in Week 8
Jerome Simpson had one catch for 18 yards in Week 8 against the Packers.
Simpson was a non-factor in the first half and didn't make his only catch until late in the fourth quarter. He has just eight receptions for 80 yards over his last three games and could start to lose playing time in two-wide sets to Cordarrelle Patterson.

Sun Sep 29 201317:32Simpson picks up 124 yards on seven catches
Jerome Simpson caught seven passes for 124 yards in Sunday's Week 4 win over the Steelers.
Simpson led the Vikings with 13 targets and showed good chemistry with Matt Cassel. The majority of his yardage came on a 51-yard reception in the second half, but he remains the clear-cut No. 2 receiver behind Greg Jennings, with Cordarrelle Patterson still a non-factor in the passing game. Simpson should continue to benefit for as long as Cassel remains the starting quarterback. He's doubtful to maintain his current pace of 76 catches for 1,368 yards through four weeks.

Sun Sep 22 201318:38Jerome Simpson struggles in losing effort
Jerome Simpson caught three passes for 29 yards in Sunday's Week 3 loss to Cleveland.
Simpson was targeted a team-high eight times, but has now struggled in back-to-back games after going off for seven catches and 140 yards in the season opener. Cordarrelle Patterson outplayed Simpson on a per-play basis and will continue to push for the starting X receiver job. Simpson has 12 receptions for 218 yards through three weeks.

Sun Sep 15 201317:53Jerome Simpson has two-catch day vs. CHI
Jerome Simpson caught two passes for 49 yards in Minnesota's Week 2 loss to the Bears.
We may have already found our 2013 Kevin Ogletree. In his defense, Simpson did draw five targets, and isn't being pushed by rookie Cordarrelle Patterson, but he's irrelevant for fantasy purposes.

Sun Sep 8 201318:20Jerome Simpson goes off for 140 yards
Jerome Simpson had seven catches for 140 yards in Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Simpson led the Vikings in receiving and had an impressive 47-yard catch in the third-quarter. He finished with more catches and targets than Greg Jennings, but remains no higher than the third option in the passing game. Cordarrelle Patterson was held to one catch for 10 yards and isn't yet a threat for his starting X receiver job.

Sun Aug 25 201322:30Jerome Simpson trips drunk 49ers fan
Jerome Simpson caught two passes for 24 yards in the Vikings' third preseason game Sunday night against San Francisco.
Simpson's play of the night occurred in the fourth quarter when he tripped a drunk fan who'd run onto the field in a Joe Montana jersey. NBC's telecast had to turn their cameras away from the incident. Simpson is set to open the season as Minnesota's starting "X" receiver, although his leash should be short with first-round pick Cordarrelle Patterson waiting in the wings.

Wed Aug 7 201309:58Jerome Simpson getting separation again
Vikings OC Bill Musgrave said Jerome Simpson is "doing a better job getting separation" this summer.
Simpson was hampered by a back injury much of last season, and it sapped him of his explosion, acceleration, and get-off. In training camp, he's shown "flashes" that he can be a "consistent No. 2 receiver" and "deep threat." Simpson is expected to open the season as a starter, but he's nothing more than a WR4/5 in fantasy. Cordarrelle Patterson will push him for the job sooner rather than later.

Tue Jul 16 201309:24Jerome Simpson working out with Fitzgerald
Jerome Simpson is working out with Larry Fitzgerald this week.
Fitzgerald is hosting some receivers at the University of Minnesota's facility this week. "I wanted to work with one of the greats," Simpson said. "I got an opportunity to come down here and work with him so I wanted to take full advantage of it." Seemingly focused and healthy, Simpson is theoretically primed for a bounce-back season. The problem is that he doesn't have the natural talent to do it. We're expecting rookie Cordarrelle Patterson to push for his starting job sooner rather than later.

Thu Mar 14 201314:22Jerome Simpson's deal surprisingly lucrative
Jerome Simpson's one-year salary with the Vikings includes a $1.35 million base salary, $500,000 singing bonus and $250,000 workout bonus.
As venerable beat writer Tom Pelissero put it, "wow." It's a big commitment for a player who has rarely produced, was limited by a mysterious injury last season and has been a headache off the field. It speaks to the Vikings' desperate situation at receiver, and seeming lack of direction in the front office.

Tue Mar 12 201313:02Vikes surprisingly bring back Jerome Simpson
Vikings re-signed WR Jerome Simpson to a one-year contract.
Vikings fans will hardly miss Percy Harvin. Simpson's return is a major surprise for a team that appeared dead-set on moving on after he caught just 26 passes for 274 yards his first year in Minnesota. Now he's back as the Vikes' nominal No. 1 receiver until they inevitably address a WR corps that was among the worst in the NFL last season. Simpson's athleticism is ever appealing, but he's not going to have fantasy value in 2013.

Tue Mar 12 201308:08No movement with Vikes, Simpson
The Vikings reportedly "have not moved" to re-sign free agents Jerome Simpson or Devin Aromashodu.
GM Rick Spielman has something up his sleeve at the wideout position, and it wisely doesn't include the below-average likes of Simpson, Aromashodu or Michael Jenkins. The Vikings are expected to be major players for free agents Mike Wallace/Greg Jennings, and could also address the position with one of their two first-round draft picks. Simpson is going to have to settle for another one-year deal after faceplanting with the Vikes last season.

Sun Feb 24 201315:38Vikings don't consider Simpson a starter
The Vikings may re-sign free agent Jerome Simpson, but are not expected to use him as a 2013 starter.
Simpson was a complete flop as Minnesota's 2012 split end receiver and is better suited as a No. 3 or No. 4 wideout, coming off the bench. Regardless of Percy Harvin's whereabouts, Minnesota will make upgrading out wide a priority in free agency and/or the draft. Dwayne Bowe should rank high on their wish list.
