Forte compiled 54 yards on 17 carries and 27 yards on three receptions while failing to find the end zone in Sunday's 55-14 loss to the Packers.
Going against a Packers defense that ranked last in the league against run heading into Sunday, Forte looked like he might be the top fantasy option at running back for the week. However, the huge day many were expecting never materialized, as the Bears were quickly forced to abandon the run after trailing by 14 points by the end of the first quarter and 42 at halftime. The Packers defense proved surprisingly stout on the few occasions the Bears did opt to run, as Forte's 3.2 yards per carry represent his worst average since Week 3 against the Jets. Despite his presence on a deeply disappointing offense, Forte still remains a top-tier fantasy commodity due to his high volume of touches as a runner and receiver. Prior to Sunday's contest, he had accumulated over 100 total yards or scored a touchdown in five consecutive games. There's good odds that he'll achieve either or both of those performance markers in the Bears' Week 11 tilt with the Vikings.

Forte had 19 carries for 114 rushing yards and six catches on eight targets for 54 receiving yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Patriots.
Forte continues to be the dominant player on the Bears' offense, recording over 100 yards for the fifth straight game, while scoring six touchdowns in that span. Fantasy owners will have to wait a week to plug him back into their lineups, as the Bears are off in Week 9 before facing a Packers defense in Week 10 that is allowing the second-most rushing yards per game this season.

Forte had 12 carries for 49 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as six catches on seven targets for 60 receiving yards and another score Sunday against the Dolphins.
Forte continues to be the Bears' best offensive weapon, as he leads the team in carries, rushing yards and receptions. He has now scored four touchdowns in the last two games and he'll be heavily relied upon in Week 8 at New England, as the Bears face off against a Patriots defense ranked second in fewest-passing yards allowed per game but 24th against the run.

Forte was not listed on the Bears' injury report Thursday.
As was the case last week, Forte got the day off Wednesday before returning to a full practice Thursday. He should be at full strength for Sunday's tilt with Miami.
Wed Oct 15 201416:18Forte (non-injury) didn't partake in Wednesday's practice
Forte (non-injury) didn't partake in Wednesday's practice, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago reports.
As he did a week ago, Forte was held out of Wednesday's drills in order to receive a day off. The strategy is employed throughout the league as a means of limiting the the reps of workhorses around the league (see: Marshawn Lynch). Forte experienced his most rigorous work of the season in Week 5 and 6, when he combined for 34 carries and 22 receptions (on 25 targets). Thus, rest is certainly an acceptable excuse to miss practice.

Forte had a monster game in Sunday's win at Atlanta, racking up 157 yards from scrimmage while scoring two touchdowns. He finished with 17 carries for 80 yards and 10 receptions for 77 yards.
No matter the scoring system, Forte produced for fantasy owners Sunday. He's been a stud in PPR formats the last two weeks, catching a whopping 22 passes for 182 yards. There's no reason to think he can't carry this momentum into next week, as he'll face Miami at home.

Forte wasn't listed on the Bears' injury report Thursday.
With averages of 16.4 rushes and 7.2 receptions per game, Forte is a prime bet to profit from a Falcons defense that has given up an NFL-worst nine rushing touchdowns to running backs this season.

Forte (coach's decision) didn't practice Wednesday, Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago reports.
Forte received a season-high 29 touches in Week 5 -- 17 carries and 12 receptions -- intimating that the day off was merely for rest purposes. Expect him to return to practice in some capacity before the end of the week.

Forte had 17 carries for 61 rushing yards and 12 catches on 12 targets for 105 receiving yards and a touchdown, but lost a costly fumble late in a 31-24 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
Forte's touchdown was his first of the season, and while the fumble hurt, he has now accumulated over 160 yards in both of the past two games. Backup Ka'Deem Carey had only two carries, further cementing Forte's status as the workhorse in Chicago. Up next is a Falcons' defense that is ranked 30th in the NFL against the pass and allowed 124 rushing yards and a touchdown to the Giants in Week 5.

Forte had 23 carries for 122 rushing yards and five catches on six targets for 49 receiving yards Sunday against the Packers.
Facing off against one of the worst run defenses in the league, Forte scorched the Packers for his highest rushing total of the season. The Bears relied heavily on the run game, with Forte getting a season-high 23 carries while also seeing backup Ka'Deem Carey grab 14 carries of his own, which he turned into 72 yards. Unfortunately, the Bears' touchdowns were scored through the air, a theme that has persisted through the first four games of the season, which has meant zero touchdowns for Forte so far. Forte is still getting a few looks near the goal line, but he has yet to convert. He'll look to break through in Week 5 against a Panthers defense that is really struggling this season and allowed 127 rushing yards to the Ravens in Week 4.

Forte had 33 yards on 13 carries and 43 yards on six receptions in Monday's 27-19 win over the Jets.
Forte had a few nice rushing gains in the fourth quarter, after finding no room to run for most of the game. The Bears wisely focused on their passing attack against a Jets team that has a fearsome defensive line. Though he surprisingly has just 136 rushing yards through three games, Forte should have more luck next week in a matchup with the shaky Green Bay defense. The Chicago offensive line, while unimpressive Monday, figures to be a decent bunch this season. Forte is still playing nearly every offensive snap.

Forte had 21 yards on 12 carries and 15 yards on five receptions (eight targets) in Sunday's 28-20 loss to the 49ers.
Not only did the Bears play from behind for most of the night, but they only ran 52 offensive plays. Forte's poor performance in a tricky matchup isn't especially concerning, as he was the only Chicago running back to record a touch, after taking 17 of the 18 carries last week. He's playing nearly every snap, and will likely continue to do so in games that are close. On a less positive note, the Bears' next opponent, the Jets, seem to be far better at defending the run than they are at defending the pass. That's true both in terms of early-season results and personnel.

Forte had 17 carries for 82 rushing yards and eight catches on nine targets for 87 receiving yards Sunday against the Bills.
Forte led the Bears in rushing and receiving yards Sunday, although he had to watch tight end Martellus Bennett and wide receiver Brandon Marshall grab the two touchdowns. Backup running back Ka'Deem Carey had only one carry for four yards, showing once again that Forte remains the clear workhorse back in Chicago.

Forte had some moderate success on the ground Friday against the Seahawks, picking up 17 yards on three carries.
After he was held to a mind-boggling minus-7 yards over seven carries in his first two preseason contests, Forte finished with a final line more befitting of his talents. He didn't see any targets in the passing game, but after collecting 594 yards on 74 catches last season, he'll enter 2014 as one of the premier backs in both standard and PPR formats alike.

Although he lost two yards on four carries in Thursday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Forte gained 22 yards on three receptions.
Forte is oddly sitting at negative-seven yards through seven carries this preseason, but he should start going in the right direction soon enough. The Bears' offensive line has thus far looked good in pass protection, which was the relative weakness last season. Journeyman Shaun Draughn was the only other running back to get a touch in the first half of Thursday's game, and Chicago's lack of a highly-regarded backup could mean more goal-line carries for Forte.

Forte lost five yards on three carries in Friday's preseason opener against the Eagles.
More importantly, Forte didn't get hurt. The Bears return all 11 offensive starters, and while everyone remembers Jay Cutler's groin/ankle issues, the team was remarkably healthy on that side of the ball last season, as all the other starters avoided injuries. That kind of injury luck is unlikely to last another year, but on the flip side, there's likely something to gain from continuity. Even if we accept the likelihood that the Bears will deal with more injuries this season, the offense still figures to be one of the best in the league. Forte gets to work behind a line that does a good job in the running game, while opposing safeties are wary of cheating up toward the box with Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall casting intimidating shadows over the field. Forte's talent and team context are both still excellent, and he may see added goal-line carries now that Michael Bush is no longer a Bear.
Wed Jul 23 201411:19Matt Forte among most durable RBs in NFL
Matt Forte has played all 16 games in four of his six NFL seasons.
Forte will turn 29 in December, but durability while taking on massive workloads is part of what makes him a "safe" top-five fantasy pick. A three-down back who excels in Marc Trestman's efficient offense, Forte piled up 74 catches and 289 carries last season while leading all running backs in snaps played. There's little reason to think anything will change this year. Our Evan Silva ranked Forte fourth overall in his July rankings, available at the link below.

Mon Dec 23 201300:05Forte does little in loss to Eagles
Matt Forte rushed nine times for 29 yards in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Eagles.
He added four catches for 25 yards. Forte fell out of the gameplan with the Bears playing from behind and wasn't a factor out of the backfield, finishing with just five targets. He was forced to stay in and pass protect in a game where Jay Cutler was sacked seven times. Forte didn't have any goal-line carries, but was tackled for a safety on a run deep in his own end-zone in the third quarter. He'll need to get back on track in a NFC North showdown with the Packers in Week 17.

Mon Dec 9 201323:55Forte totals 175 yards, TD against Cowboys
Matt Forte rushed for 102 yards on 20 carries and caught seven passes for 73 yards and one touchdown in Monday night's Week 14 drubbing of the Cowboys.
Forte found a ton of space against Dallas' league-worst fantasy run defense. He also tied with Alshon Jeffery for the team lead in targets with nine. Forte had a ton of lengthy gains, but his biggest was a 34-yard catch-and-run up the right side on a play where the Cowboys defense seemed completely disinterested in tackling. Forte has now eclipsed 100 yards from scrimmage in seven of his last eight games and remains an elite RB1 play. He's touched the ball at least 21 times in six consecutive games. Forte has a tough matchup against the Browns on the road next week, but he's locked in as a top fantasy back.
