Lewis, 30, batted .262/.332/.414 with eight homers, 36 RBI and 17 stolen bases with the Blue Jays last season. Many teams looked at him as a potential fourth outfielder this winter, but there's a chance he could split left field duties with Jonny Gomes this season. |
Mon Jan 3 2011 | 13:27 | Reds have interest in free agent Fred Lewis |
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Reds have expressed interest in free agent outfielder Fred Lewis. |
The Blue Jays non-tendered Lewis earlier this winter to avoid paying him a sizable raise via salary arbitration. He batted .262/.332/.414 with eight homers, 36 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 2010 and would make a fine utility outfielder in Cincinnati behind starters Jonny Gomes, Drew Stubbs and Jay Bruce. However, there's a chance that Lewis will want more playing time than the Reds can provide. The Mets, Tigers and Indians are also interested. |
