Free agent Jermichael Finley will undergo an X-ray on his surgically fused spine on Monday.
If the X-ray checks out, Finley will undergo an MRI/CAT scan. Per USA Today's Tom Pelissero, Finley is "on track," but it remains "unclear when he'll be cleared." The Seahawks and Dolphins have flirted with Finley, while the Jets, Chiefs, Giants, and Steelers have all been rumored to have interest. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported in late March that Finley was "at least two months" and "maybe several months more" from signing a contract.

Sun Apr 13 201416:06Dolphins have 'conversations' with TE Finley
The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "had conversations" with free agent Jermichael Finley (neck surgery).
Joe Philbin spent four seasons as Finley's offensive coordinator in Green Bay. The Fins "could have interest" in Finley if he receives clearance to resume his career, but "other teams have been more proactive," per beat writer Barry Jackson. Finley is undergoing X-rays and an MRI on his neck over the next week. Finley previously failed a physical during a March visit to the Seahawks.

Jermichael Finley (neck) will undergo X-rays and an MRI in the next two weeks.

Mon Mar 24 201408:54Jermichael Finley failed his physical w/ SEA
A source tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette that the Seahawks failed free agent Jermichael Finley (neck) on his physical.
This is in line with recent reports that Finley is at least two months away from signing with an NFL team. Although his surgeon is expected to proclaim the tight end healthy, it doesn't mean NFL teams will sign off. Finley is roughly four months removed from surgery to fuse his C-3/C-4 vertebrae.

Sat Mar 22 201415:44Giants could target TE Finley after draft
The Newark Star-Ledger believes the Giants could be a landing spot for free agent Jermichael Finley if they fail to find their tight end in the draft.
The Giants currently have Adrien Robinson atop their depth chart, but are expected to add competition through the draft or free agency. Despite his immense upside, Robinson has appeared in just three career games and is going to have to earn an offensive role. Larry Donnell and Daniel Fells are the only other tight ends on the Giants roster.

Fri Mar 21 201414:43FA TE Jermichael Finley 'months' from signing
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports free agent Jermichael Finley (neck surgery) is "at least two months" and "maybe several months more" from signing a deal with an NFL team.
Sources tell reporter Bob McGinn that Finley's early-free agency visit to Seattle ended in the Seahawks telling Finley to "stay in touch," with hopes that the passage of time would "presumably mean additional healing" for his bruised spinal cord. Finley underwent spinal fusion surgery on November 14. His market has been silent since the Seattle visit. It's more interesting than noteworthy that Finley would collect a $10 million tax-free insurance policy were he to never play football again. Finley turns 27 years old next week.

Tue Mar 18 201422:08Report: 'No timetable' for Finley's clearance
Profootballtalk reports there's "no timetable" for free agent Jermichael Finley (neck surgery) to gain full medical clearance.
Finley is still expected to ultimately be cleared, but is in a "holding pattern." Finley visited the Seahawks last week, but hasn't scheduled any other trips. Seattle isn't expected to make an offer until Finley's neck gets the green light.

Thu Mar 13 201414:03TE Finley leaves Seattle visit without deal
Free agent Jermichael Finley left his Seahawks visit without a contract, but the sides have "mutual interest" in a deal.
Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks are waiting for Finely to gain full medical clearance from his neck surgery before signing him. Finley hasn't scheduled any other visits, and it's possible his Seattle signing is a formality upon getting the green light health-wise.

Tue Mar 11 201420:00SEA to put Finley through vigorous physical
The Seahawks will put free agent Jermichael Finley (neck surgery) through a vigorous physical Wednesday.
Finley isn't just going to be chatting with coaches and living off his old game tape. The Seahawks are going to want to see if his neck is healed and what the risks will be in signing him. It will be a telling physical as if Finley is truly 100 percent, he'd immediately become one of the hotter free agents still available. There aren't many tight ends with his skill set.

Tue Mar 11 201417:08Jermichael Finley first visit will be Seattle
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Seahwaks will be free agent Jermichael Finley's first visit.
Finley has still not been medically cleared but seems likely to play in 2014. Turning 27 later this month, Finley is at the top of a weak tight end market, but is unlikely to receive anything more than one-year offers due to his health concerns.

Mon Mar 10 201416:08Jermichael Finley to begin making FA visits
Although free agent Jermichael Finley (neck surgery) has not received medical clearance, he is expected to begin making "multiple visits" this week.
Finley has been hoping to be cleared on Tuesday. Even if he doesn't formally get it, Finley is expected to begin visiting teams and taking physical in hopes of landing a contract. Finley turns 27 later this month. He is at the top of a weak tight end market, but will probably only get one-year offers.

Fri Mar 7 201415:17Jermichael Finley generating FA interest
The Boston Globe reports free agent Jermichael Finley is drawing interest from the Jets, Chiefs, Seahawks, Giants, and Steelers.
We're not remotely disputing the report, but it certainly sounds like it came directly from the mouth of Finley's agent. Finley has not been medically cleared to play football after last year's spinal fusion surgery. He does hope to receive clearance by early next week. If Finley gets the green light, he should be seeking one-year, "prove-it" deals. He's still only 27 years old.

Wed Mar 5 201420:55Jermichael Finley could be cleared soon
According to Profootballtalk.com, free agent Jermichael Finley's medical clearance from neck surgery "could be coming very soon."
Finley's primary doctor and neurosurgeon have been out of the country, but return on Friday. Per PFT, the "goal" of Finley's camp is to receive clearance by Tuesday, when free agency begins. Still only 27 years old, Finley's market could be busy if he indeed gets the green light. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported late last month that there's already a "healthy market forming" for Finley.

Tue Feb 25 201418:40'Healthy market forming' for TE Finley?
CBS' Jason La Canfora reports there's a "healthy market forming" for free agent Jermichael Finley.
This is obviously an agent-driven report, so take it with a grain of salt. The good news is, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said last Friday that he was "very open and optimistic" about Finley's recovery. Finley's agent said earlier this month that he could be cleared within the next two months. Barring a setback, we're likely to see Finley back on an NFL field in 2014.

Fri Feb 21 201414:58McCarthy 'open and optimistic' about Finley
Packers coach Mike McCarthy is "very open and optimistic" about free agent Jermichael Finley's return from his neck injury.
Finley is recovering from the same spinal-fusion surgery that former Packers S Nick Collins underwent, but is apparently making far better progress. "(The Packers team doctor) doesn't feel the same way about Jermichael as he felt about Nick," McCarthy said. "So I'm very open and optimistic about Jermichael coming back. I think the specifics of their injuries are different." Finley isn't considered likely to re-sign with the Packers, but is Rotoworld's No. 3 free agent tight end.

Mon Feb 10 201413:54Packers not expected to re-sign TE Finley
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel considers the Packers "pretty unlikely" to re-sign free agent Jermichael Finley (neck surgery).
The Packers' medical team wouldn't clear FS Nick Collins following a similar neck procedure, and may fail Finley in the same way. Ex-college basketball player Brandon Bostick wound up not playing much in 2013, but flashed with his opportunities and is worth owning in Dynasty leagues as Finley's potential heir apparent. Andrew Quarless is another unrestricted free agent.
