Thu May 12 201116:24Gano to face competition for job?
The Washington Post wouldn't be surprised if the Redskins bring in competition for K Graham Gano in training camp.
The Skins face a similar dilemma to the Cowboys with David Buehler. Kickoff returners averaged just 19.0 yards per against Gano, the second-lowest mark in the league. It was the opposite story on field goals, though, as Gano's 68.6 conversion rate was four percentage points lower than any other kicker.

Mon Jan 3 201109:25Gano's job far from safe
Beat writer Jason Reid confirms that K Graham Gano is on unstable ground heading into the offseason.
Gano missed a 30-yarder in Sunday's loss to the Giants and finished the season 24-of-35 on field goals. Among kickers with at least 16 attempts, his 68.6 percent conversion rate ranks dead last in the league. Gano will be hoping just to be part of a competition next August.

Mon Dec 13 201015:16Redskins to try out kickers
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan revealed that K Graham Gano suffered a rib injury in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
The Skins will audition kickers Tuesday, though Shanahan insisted that the tryouts are more due to Gano's injury than his struggles. Gano has missed 11 field goal tries this year. He also doesn't have a touchback since Week 11.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Sunday night that the Redskins will not bring in tryout kickers this week despite two more missed field goals by Graham Gano in Sunday's one-point loss to the Bucs.
"He has been very consistent for us in practice," Shanahan said. "He is young, and I think he has a great future." Gano has shanked 11-of-32 field goal tries in real life, but impressive practice performances are keeping him safe.

Sat Jul 31 201014:30Gano in good standing with Shanahan
Graham Gano doesn't appear to be in any danger of losing the Redskins' kicking job before the start of the season.
Gano drilled 19-of-20 field goals Saturday, with the only miss the result of a bad snap. "I was impressed by Graham," coach Mike Shanahan said. "He's done a great job since I've been here." Gano has no competition in training camp.

Redskins special teams coach Danny Smith revealed that Graham Gano kicked all four December games with a broken foot.
Signed in late November after kicking for the UFL champion Las Vegas Locomotives, Gano connected on 4-of-4 field goals. Healthy now, he has the Redskins' kicking job all to himself following Monday's release of Justin Medlock.

Sat Jun 5 201015:35Gano has to hold off Medlock this year
Redskins K Graham Gano will have to hold off competition from Justin Medlock this summer.
Gano was 4-for-4 on field goal attempts down the stretch last season after kicking for the UFL champion Las Vegas Locomotives through November. While he remains the favorite, Gano is not a sure bet to hold off the strong-legged Medlock.
