Baker labored through 4.1 innings Friday night, giving up five earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three in a loss to the Mariners.
Coming off of back-to-back solid efforts, Baker was unable to keep it going Friday night. The veteran right-hander has pitched mostly out of bullpen this season, but has now seen three consecutive turns in the Rangers' rotation. His role going forward is a bit up in the air, but a possible fourth straight start for Baker would likely come on Thursday versus the Angels or Friday against the Braves.
Wed Sep 3 201418:22Baker will have start moved back to Friday against Mariners
Baker will have start moved back to Friday against the Mariners, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Baker would've faced that Mariners had he been given the OK to pitch Thursday, so moving back a day won't change his predicament too much. Robbie Ross moves up a day to start Friday.

Baker will make another start with Miles Mikolas still sidelined with shoulder discomfort, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Baker was been surprisingly effective in his recent spot starts for Texas, though it remains to be seen if he'll remain in the rotation beyond just the one start.

Baker turned in a solid 6.1 innings Friday night, limiting the Astros to two earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three in a winning effort.
Make it back-to-back strong outings for Baker, as the veteran right-hander has allowed just three earned runs and posted a 1.15 WHIP across 11.1 innings during his last two starts. Though he has pitched well enough to earn at least one more round in the rotation, Baker is likely headed back to the Rangers' bullpen with the impending return of Derek Holland (knee) on Tuesday.

Baker had one of his best starts of the season on Sunday, holding Kansas City to five hits and one run over five innings.
Due to countless injuries in their rotation, the Rangers have had to call on Baker out of necessity more than anything else, but he came up huge on Sunday. The right-hander, who still owns an unsightly 5.45 ERA in 66 innings this season, takes on the Astros in Houston in his next assignment on Friday.
Sat Aug 23 201416:47Baker will start Sunday's game against Royals
Baker will start Sunday's game against the Royals.
With Derek Holland and Yu Darvish both taking longer to return to the mound than expected, the Rangers will essentially wave the white flag Sunday. Baker has a woeful 6.97 ERA in 20.2 innings as a starter this season, and there's no reason to expect him to be any more effective on Sunday.
Fri Aug 22 201417:42Baker could start Sunday's game against Royals
Baker could start Sunday's game against the Royals, Fox Sports Southwest's Anthony Andro reports.
The Rangers' rotation is a mess, and with Yu Darvish and Derek Holland both taking longer to return from injuries than originally anticipated, Baker could see a spot start Sunday. Even so, he has a 6.97 ERA in 20.2 innings as a starter this season, so it's hard to make a case for starting Baker in any format.
Sun Jul 13 201420:19Baker surrenders nine hits, five runs Sunday
Scott Baker allowed nine hits and five runs over four innings in a loss to the Angels on Sunday.
Baker owns a 6.24 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 53 1/3 innings this season. The 32-year-old shouldn't be rostered in any formats.

Thu Jul 3 201423:42Baker fills in for Darvish, takes second loss
Scott Baker, filling in for Yu Darvish, took his second loss of the season after allowing three runs over 4 2/3 innings on Thursday against the Orioles.
Darvish was bumped due to inclement weather, as the Rangers didn't want to waste their ace if the game happened to be called early. For pitching on short notice, Baker wasn't bad, allowing seven hits and walking one while striking out two. Baker has been serving as a long man out of the Rangers' bullpen and will return to the role. He has a 5.80 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and a 29/7 K/BB ratio.

Tue May 20 201417:36Scott Baker to start for Rangers on Friday
Scott Baker will start on Friday against the Tigers.
Robbie Ross was demoted to a relief role on Tuesday and Baker is going to get the first crack at the vacant rotation spot. Baker made a promising start earlier this month against a good Rockies lineup, allowing just two runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings. Still, the 32-year-old right-hander is not an attractive fantasy option.

Rangers purchased the contract of RHP Scott Baker from Triple-A Round Rock.
Baker got designated for assignment last Thursday because he threw 79 pitches on Wednesday. Now, six days later, he's back because Justin Germano threw 81 pitches last night. Baker has to hope he's not needed to throw 80 pitches tonight, because he'd probably get shipped off again immediately.

Thu May 8 201416:37Rangers designate Baker for assignment
Rangers designated RHP Scott Baker for assignment.
Baker was just called up on Wednesday and allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings in relief of Colby Lewis against the Rockies. It's unfortunate to see him get the boot after doing well in mop-up duty, but he likely wouldn't have been available to pitch for another few days.

Wed May 7 201423:32Scott Baker goes 5 1/3 in relief
In his first day with the Rangers, Scott Baker came out of the pen to throw 5 1/3 innings and allow two runs Wednesday against the Rockies.
Baker gave the Rangers what they needed after a short start from Colby Lewis. Now he'll have to wait and find out whether he'll get to stick around or if he'll be exchanged for another fresh arm. Obviously, he's going to need at least three and probably four days off after throwing 79 pitches tonight.

Wed Apr 30 201417:40Scott Baker not planning to opt out of deal
Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Scott Baker is not planning to use his opt-out.
Baker has posted a 2.81 ERA and 26/10 K/BB ratio in 32 innings (five starts) this season with the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate. The right-hander could get a shot in Texas soon, so he'll remain with the Rangers organization rather than testing the free agent waters.

Fri Mar 28 201415:28Scott Baker inks minors deal with Rangers
Rangers signed RHP Scott Baker to a minor league contract.
The deal was reported Wednesday, and it's now official after Baker passed a physical. The right-hander used an opt-out clause in his contract with the Mariners earlier this week and has landed with another club desperate for starting pitching. He'll begin the season in the minors but could get a shot quickly if he pitches well.
