Tue Feb 10 201512:04James will sign 10-day contract with Mavericks
James will sign a 10-day contract with the Mavericks, NBC Sports reports.
The 30-year-old signed a one-year, fully guaranteed deal with the Mavs this summer, but the team waived him prior to the start of the regular season. James has since been playing in China, but he'll return to Dallas to provide depth with Tyson Chandler sidelined after injuring his ankle against the Clippers on Monday. James has a chance to stick around longer than 10 days, but the Mavs are believed to be interested in the likes of Amar'e Stoudemire and Jermaine O'Neal, so those two players would likely be higher priorities.
Sat Oct 25 201416:28James waived by Mavericks
James has been waived by the Mavericks, according to the team's official site.
After two seasons with Dallas, James was one of the last players cut after the Mavs elected to keep veteran Charlie Villanueva.
Wed Oct 8 201411:57James scored two points in six minutes of action Tuesday
James scored two points in six minutes of action Tuesday. He added two rebounds and two blocks in the preseason loss to Houston.
James remains near the bottom of the Dallas depth chart but did manage to produce nicely in limited action.
Fri Aug 22 201411:39James has signed one-year deal to return to Mavericks
James has signed a one-year deal to return to the Mavericks, the Dallas Morning News reports.
James will be the third center on the Dallas depth chart, limiting his overall fantasy value.
Sat Jul 12 201420:56Bernard James scores 21
Bernard James scored 21 points vs. the Wolves on Saturday with seven boards, three steals and one block on 6-of-9 shooting.
The Mavericks just owned the paint in today's game and it was mostly due to Sarge. He had three offensive boards today and the Wolves struggled inside on the other end. James is still off the radar in fantasy leagues.

Tue Jul 8 201414:34Bernard James enters unrestricted free agency
Bernard James will play for the Mavericks' Summer League team as an unrestricted free agent.
The Mavs declined to give James a $1.1 million qualifying offer, and the 29-year-old realizes that he may have to seek a contract with another team. "If they bring DeJuan [Blair] back, I'd be the fourth center again and I'd probably need to go somewhere else," James said. "If I can be the third center and get 10 or 15 minutes a game, then that would be a step forward. I'm not getting any younger. In fact, I'm already old." No matter which team picks him up, James won't factor into the equation for fantasy owners.

Wed Apr 30 201419:00Bernard James is available to play
Bernard James is available to play against the Spurs on Wednesday night.
He's the last resort for the Mavericks with DeJuan Blair out due to a suspension. If Samuel Dalembert and Brandan Wright don't get into foul trouble or get hurt, chances are we won't be seeing James tonight.

Thu Mar 6 201411:13Bernard James starts second half for Mavs
Bernard James started at center for the second half of Wednesday's game against the Nuggets.
Coach Rick Carlisle was looking to shake things up for the slumping Mavericks and went with the seldom-used James to start the second half. "I should have subbed all the guys out of the game that were in there that gave up 12 points in 3« minutes or whatever it was," Carlisle said. "And not doing that was a major mistake." James registered four rebounds and missed the only shot he took in 10 minutes of action Wednesday night, so there is nothing to see here fantasy-wise.

Fri Jul 26 201312:40Mavericks bring back center Bernard James
Mavericks sign C Bernard James.
James will get $789K in the one-year deal. The Mavericks had to waive Sarge and since no team claimed him, they were able to bring him back. He'll be the third center behind Brandan Wright and Samuel Dalembert and doesn't project to be in the rotation to start the year.

Mon Jul 22 201312:41Bernard James will be back with the Mavs
Bernard James said that he's going to be back with the Mavs for another year.
The Mavs waived him on Friday and no team picked him up, despite a salary of just $789. James had some ups and downs last year, but his roster spot isn't completely safe. Jack Carmichael had a big week in Vegas and the two might be fighting over one spot.

Sun Jul 21 201321:48Bernard James officially clears waivers
Bernard James, whom the Mavericks have interest in re-signing, officially cleared waivers on Sunday.
It's a mild surprise that no team scooped up James and his $789k salary for this season. The second-year forward played limited minutes in 46 appearances last season, but his per-36-minute splits are encouraging -- 10.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 3.0 blocks. There's a good chance that he'll re-sign with Dallas.

Sat Jul 20 201313:20Mavericks forced to waive C Bernard James
The Mavericks were forced to waive center Bernard James on Friday, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Stein reports the Mavs made the move to allow enough space to finalize their deal with Monta Ellis. This isn't too much of a surprise after James left the Mavs' summer league team after they declined to guarantee his contract for the 2013-14 season. According to Stein, Dallas would like to re-sign James if he makes it through waivers, but that appears unlikely given his upside and relatively cheap contract.

Thu Jul 18 201311:23Bernard James leaves Mavs for personal reason
Bernard James left the Mavericks' Summer League team one day after they declined to guarantee his contract for the 2013-14 season.
Mark Cuban wouldn't comment on the situation and ESPN Dallas reports that he left for "personal reasons," but it's possible that James is no longer part of the plan in Dallas. The Mavs signed Samuel Dalembert to be their starting center, they're expected to re-sign Brandan Wright, and signing Greg Oden remains a possibility.

Tue Jul 16 201322:49Bernard James out for Tuesday's game
Bernard James returned to Dallas and will not play in Tuesday's summer-league game for personal reasons.
He had an illness that forced him to miss Sunday's action and this appears to be something unrelated. Should Dallas continue to swing and miss on signing centers, James could see more minute in the regular season.

Sun Jul 14 201317:00Bernard James (illness) won't play Sunday
Bernard James (illness) will not play in summer league on Sunday.
There's no word on the severity of the illness and hopefully Sarge can suit up in for Dallas' next game on Tuesday. James put on some extra muscle to his frame, so the extra practice couldn't hurt his game.

Thu Jul 11 201313:28Bernard James adds 10 pounds to frame
Bernard James said that he added 10 pounds to his frame this offseason.
He added that he's trying to add 10-15 pounds on top the of the 10. The Mavs have been swinging and missing in their attempts to bring in a center and James might have an easier time to get minutes than once thought. He's still not considered a threat for a consistent role and will likely hover around the 9.9 minutes per game from last season.

Sat Feb 23 201300:55James with seven blocks on Friday
Rookie Bernard James blocked a career-high seven shots in 15 minutes on Friday, and also added four points on 2-of-2 shooting with six rebounds and one steal.
Wow. James isn't getting minutes but we'll be watching to see what happens if he does. Owners should still watch this action from the wire.

Sun Jan 27 201322:55Bernard James plays just 11 minutes in start
Bernard James lasted just 11 minutes in his start at center on Sunday, finishing with two points and three rebounds.
Elton Brand was benched and had 12 points and three boards in 17 minutes, while Chris Kaman had six points and five boards in just 11 minutes. Brandan Wright also made a surprise appearance after falling out of the rotation and also played 11 minutes. Our guess is Brand is still the guy to own from this group, with Kaman close behind, and that Carlisle was simply trying to send a message to his big men to hit the boards and play more defense. Stay tuned.

Sun Jan 27 201319:23Bernard James to start at center for Mavs
Bernard James will start at center for the Mavericks on Sunday against the Suns.
Elton Brand got us all excited by starting in the last one over Chris Kaman, but it's starting to look like Rick Carlisle isn't exactly sure what he wants to do at center. If you recently picked up Brand, don't let this news scare you. But if James plays well, it will be interesting to see if Carlisle sticks with him or not.

Thu Jan 17 201309:50Bernard James was back on Wednesday
Bernard James (illness) was active on Wednesday, but he did not play.
James had an allergic reaction to shellfish, but he's good to go and will resume his usual seat at the end of the Mavs bench.
