Sat Mar 24 201217:59Gilbert Arenas looks terrible in Grizz loss
Gilbert Arenas had two points on 1-of-5 shooting off the Grizzlies' bench on Saturday, adding one assist and two turnovers in 19 minutes.
Jeremy Pargo only played seven minutes and it seems Arenas will continue to play backup PG, but he's nowhere near the player he used to be and he doesn't deserve fantasy consideration.

Fri Mar 23 201201:32Arenas quiet in Grizzlies debut on Thursday
Gilbert Arenas debuted for the Grizzlies on Thursday, scoring two points on 1-of-4 shooting with one rebound, three assists, and two steals in 12 minutes.
We're not putting a lot of stock in Arenas' return, but this isn't the worst line for somebody to start back up with. He's still waiver wire fodder however you slice it, though.

Tue Mar 20 201214:12Gilbert Arenas inks one-year deal with Grizz
Grizzlies signed G Gilbert Arenas to a one-year contract.
Arenas will play out the year for the prorated veteran's minimum, roughly $300,000. He's been on the street all season and last appeared in an NBA game in April of 2010. Back then, Arenas was a spot-up shooter incapable of explosion thanks to his chronic knee issues. Now 30 with tons of baggage, he's unlikely to be anything more than Mike Conley's backup and a fourth guard in Memphis.

Mon Mar 19 201217:58Report: Grizz prepared to sign Gilbert Arenas
The Grizzlies are preparing to sign Gilbert Arenas for the rest of the season, sources tell the Commercial Appeal.
The Grizzlies put Arenas through a private workout Monday morning and he is taking a physical. If he passes, he'll get the prorated veteran's minimum, meaning he'll play out the season for $300,000. Arenas was a shell of his "Hibachi" self with the Wizards and Magic last year, struggling through knee issues on the way to 10.8 points per game and 36.6 percent shooting. He'll be the fourth guard at best on Memphis, playing behind Mike Conley, Tony Allen and O.J. Mayo.

Sun Mar 18 201212:35Gilbert Arenas to workout for Griz on Monday
Gilbert Arenas will hold a private workout for the Grizzlies in Memphis on Monday.
Having "earned" $63 million when the Magic bought out his contract, Arenas is looking to break into the NBA again. He's reportedly lost weight and he says his knee feels good, but even if Memphis signs him he won't be a fantasy option.

Wed Mar 14 201217:48Grizzlies consider addition of Gilbert Arenas
The Grizzlies are reportedly interested in free agent Gilbert Arenas.
Memphis is "exploring the possibility" of signing the 30-year-old guard, who failed to impress the Lakers enough to earn a contract in February. He would be an interesting addition at the veterans' minimum, but we're not reading too much into this preliminary report.

Tue Feb 14 201214:41Report: Lakers not interested in Arenas
The Lakers don't have "serious interest" in signing free agent Gilbert Arenas, a source tells the Los Angeles Times.
Arenas worked out for GM Mitch Kupchak in LA on Sunday, but went back to Orlando without a contract. Arenas is 30 with questionable knees and character, so no one is beating down the door. He managed just 8.0 points in 49 games played for the Magic a year ago.

Tue Feb 14 201207:28Kobe Bryant open to idea of Gilbert Arenas
Kobe Bryant said "it surely wouldn't hurt" when asked if he was in favor of the Lakers signing Gilbert Arenas.
Arenas left Los Angeles without a contract, but that doesn't mean the Lakers have closed the book on him completely. Mike Brown said that he had not yet spoken to GM Mitch Kupchak about Arenas' workout, but remained open to the idea of adding any player who could potentially help the team. Bryant added that "everyone makes mistakes," when asked about Arenas and said he would bring "hibachi" to the team.

Mon Feb 13 201209:13Arenas flies back to Orlando
Free agent Gilbert Arenas left Los Angeles Sunday night without a contract.
Arenas, 30, held a private workout for Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak on Sunday in Los Angeles. With no signing imminent, he flew back to his hometown of Orlando. The Lakers did cut Derrick Caracter last Tuesday, opening up a roster spot.

Sun Feb 12 201221:28Lakers attend workout for Gilbert Arenas
Lakers officials attended a private workout for Gilbert Arenas on Sunday, and Arenas reportedly "moved well and made a positive impression."
There is no clear indication that the Lakers will sign him, however, so he should remain on waiver wires. He recently underwent platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee, and the fact that it's still bothering him is a huge red flag.

Sat Feb 11 201211:01Gilbert Arenas has Orthokine therapy on knees
Gilbert Arenas apparently underwent Orthokine therapy in the past few weeks, the same procedure Kobe Bryant credits with improving his knees.
Arenas "looks great" according to former teammate and friend DeShawn Stevenson, though it's not too encouraging that his knees are still an issue after such a long layoff. The article also states that Arenas has already worked out for the Lakers -- we knew he had a workout scheduled in L.A., and that the Lakers might attend, but haven't heard details of his performance.

Sat Feb 11 201209:50Lakers have Kobe's 'blessing' to sign Arenas
The Lakers reportedly have Kobe Bryant's "blessing" to sign Gilbert Arenas.
Bryant apparently reached out to Arenas recently, and the Lakers are waiting until he holds a workout to see what sort of shape he's in. He wouldn't be a terrible consolation prize if the Lakers miss out on J.R. Smith, but he's still a gamble and won't solve their PG problems.

Wed Feb 8 201216:39Berger: Lakers to 'take a look' at Arenas
The Lakers will reportedly "take a look" at Gilbert Arenas when the free agent works out in Los Angeles later this week.
There's no indication that the Lakers are seriously interested in signing Arenas, but they have nothing to lose by attending a local workout. Arenas averaged just 8.0 points in 49 games for Orlando last year, and as Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports, "there are doubts among NBA executives about whether he has anything left."

Mon Feb 6 201210:57Report: Gilbert Arenas schedules workout
Free agent Gilbert Arenas has scheduled a public workout for later this week, sources tell the Los Angeles Daily News.
Arenas' workout will take place in Los Angeles, his hometown. It's unclear which -- if any -- teams will attend the workout. The Lakers look like a fit on paper, but their interest is reportedly lukewarm at best.

Wed Feb 1 201211:43Report: Arenas got the Kobe knee procedure
Gilbert Arenas, Nick Young's former teammate in Washington, said that Arenas "got that Kobe treatment on his knees."
This is the first we've heard of Arenas undergoing the procedure, but if true, it would make a lot more sense as to why the point guard's market has been non-existent prior to the Lakers expressing interest. Young also said that Arenas' knees "feel great," and added that "he lost a lot of weight."

Sun Jan 29 201209:58Lakers shying away from Arenas?
The Lakers are "leaning toward not signing [Gilbert Arenas]," according to the L.A. Times.
The team has yet to invite Arenas to work out, and with Steve Blake nearing a return the pressure for more guard help is reduced. Additionally, the Lakers feel their biggest problem is lack of practice, especially for their young players, and incorporating Arenas wouldn't help matters.

Sat Jan 28 201204:07Report: Lakers interested in Gilbert Arenas
Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD reported late Friday night that the Lakers have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Gilbert Arenas.
The idea of a Kobe-motivated Gilbert Arenas is intriguing in fantasyland, but a lot of things have to go right for this to work out in owners' favor. First, he has to actually land somewhere and play. Then he has to be in shape, play well, and have access to minutes. The Lakers could use another scorer but it's anybody's guess if Arenas can be that guy.

Mon Jan 9 201210:31Gilbert Arenas still dealing w/ ailing knee
Gilbert Arenas, who turned 30 on Friday, is "still trying to get his knee right," according to Magic GM Otis Smith.
Smith is friends with Arenas, which is why he was able to speak about the situation, and there's no indication the Magic want him back -- they are after all still paying him the $62 million they owed when they amnestied him. "There has been some interest from some other teams," said Smith, but it's unclear when Arenas will attempt a comeback.

Mon Jan 2 201204:09Gilbert Arenas languishing as a free agent
Gilbert Arenas remains an unrestricted free agent, but it doesn't seem like his services are much in demand.
Arenas will likely land with a team eventually, but there are good reasons GMs aren't clamoring to sign him. His baggage and erratic behavior is well known, and on a simpler level he just hasn't been good the past two years -- last season he shot 34% from the field and 28% from downtown. NBA writer Wendell Maxey also suggests that he might have a "bloated asking price."

Sun Dec 18 201101:42Gilbert Arenas prefers Lakers, Heat & Knicks
Gilbert Arenas reportedly hopes to play for the Lakers, Heat, Knicks, or whichever team trades for Dwight Howard.
The Knicks and Heat reportedly favor Baron Davis over Arenas, and the Lakers are "hesitant" to sign him, but the Nets may be willing to sign him if they can complete a trade for Dwight. Both L.A. and Miami could use a veteran PG on a minimum contract, so we're not ruling anything out at this point.
