Mon Jul 19 201013:30With Pettitte out, Mitre hurrying to get back
Sergio Mitre (oblique) will make a final rehab start on Monday evening with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Mitre is planning to throw 75 pitches in a quick effort to get stretched out for starting duties. He will take the place of Andy Pettitte in the Yankees' rotation next week. Pettitte suffered a groin strain while pitching on Sunday and is going to be out for at least a month, leaving a real opportunity for Mitre to shine. He's worth a look in deep mixed leagues.

Sergio Mitre (oblique) is scheduled to make one more minor league rehab appearance before being re-evaluated.
"We're going to discuss to see whether we think he needs one more or is ready to go," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi. He struck out five over two shutout innings for the GCL Yankees on Tuesday. It looks like he will return immediately after the All-Star break.

Sergio Mitre threw 10 pitches in an inning for High-A Tampa Friday.
The right-hander went back to the bullpen to throw 10 more pitches after the inning was over. He is slated for a two-inning outing with Tampa on Monday. Manager Joe Girardi said that it's "reasonable to assume" that Mitre, who is recovering from an oblique injury, will be ready to join the team after the All-Star break.

Tue Jun 15 201016:14Yanks place Mitre on 15-day DL
Yankees placed RHP Sergio Mitre on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 5, with an oblique strain.
He hasn't even appeared in a game since June 4, so he will be eligible to return as early as this weekend. Mitre has a 2.88 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over two starts and 10 relief appearances with the Bombers this season.
Fri May 14 201016:56Yankees' Mitre to start Sunday
Rather than bring back Javier Vazquez on short rest, the Yankees will give Sergio Mitre another start Sunday.
The sixth starter was needed because of Tuesday's doubleheader. Mitre should return to the pen afterwards.

Sat May 8 201008:34Mitre to make start in Pettitte's place
Sergio Mitre will start for the Yankees on Monday while Andy Pettitte nurses a sore elbow.
Mitre beat out fellow reliever Alfredo Aceves for the spot start against the Tigers, which was the likely result given Mitre's starting experience. He'll be followed by Javier Vazquez as the Yankees try to rearrange their rotation while facing the Tigers in Detroit.

Thu May 6 201015:41Mitre or Aceves to step in for Pettitte
Sources tell Andrew Marchand of ESPNNewYork.com that the Yankees will decide between Sergio Mitre and Alfredo Aceves to replace Andy Pettitte (elbow) in the rotation next week.
Mitre is the logical choice for the assignment, having logged 61 career starts, including nine with the Bombers last season. Aceves is the darkhorse, but he lacks similar starting experience and appears locked into a role as a swingman. The Yankees hope that Pettitte will be ready to go after missing only one turn through the rotation.
