Sun Sep 18 201116:33Brett Hayes hits one out
Brett Hayes launched a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.
The blast in the seventh inning KO'd Nats starter Chien-Ming Wang. It's the fourth longball in 122 at-bats on the year for the backup catcher. Needless to say, he doesn't belong on your fantasy roster.

Brett Hayes arrived this week at the Marlins' spring training complex.
With John Baker still in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery, Hayes is expected to open the season as the understudy to starting catcher John Buck. So the 26-year-old got down to spring training early and will look to familiarize himself with all of the Marlins' pitchers once they arrive.

Wed Sep 1 201018:34Hayes expects to miss 2-4 weeks
Brett Hayes expects to miss 2-4 weeks of action due to a Grade 1 separated shoulder.
Evidently he and manager Edwin Rodriguez aren't on the same page, as Rodriguez said he thought Hayes would be out 7-10 days. Either way, it seems this could put Hayes' season in jeopardy. Brad Davis and the recently-recalled Chris Hatcher will handle catching duties while Hayes is sidelined.

Wed Sep 1 201016:15Hayes expected to miss at least a week
Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez said he expects Brett Hayes (shoulder) to miss 7-10 days of action.
Hayes was injured in Tuesday's game in a home plate collision with the Nationals' Nyjer Morgan. He had been getting lots of playing time with John Baker still on the shelf and Ronny Paulino getting suspended. Brad Davis figures to see the bulk of the action with Hayes out.

Thu Aug 5 201018:55Brett Hayes to see a bit more playing time
Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez said Thursday that he plans to give Brett Hayes a good amount of playing time moving forward.
Hayes played very sparingly behind the plate before landing on the disabled list in late July, but the Marlins want Ronny Paulino to get some much-needed rest. "Hayes is going to start some games," Rodriguez said. "I think I'm going to use him more than I used him before." The 26-year-old Hayes is batting .219/.306/.344 with a homer and two RBI in 32 at-bats this season.
