Fri Feb 8 201321:29Mariners ink Jon Garland to minors deal
Mariners signed RHP Jon Garland to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
This confirms an earlier report from Jason Churchill of ESPN. Garland will take his physical once he joins the team in Peoria next week. The 33-year-old right-hander didn't pitch professionally in the 2012 season after posting a 4.33 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 54 innings before undergoing rotator cuff surgery in 2011.

Wed Feb 22 201215:34Garland skips physical, won't join Indians
Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Jon Garland is no longer an option for the Indians after skipping his scheduled physical on Monday.
It was reported earlier this week that the Indians had signed Garland to a minor league contract, but he had to pass a physical in order for it to be official. Since he didn't take one, he remains a free agent. The 32-year-old right-hander posted a 4.33 ERA over nine starts with the Dodgers in 2011 before undergoing season-ending rotator cuff surgery in July.

Sun Feb 19 201218:01Indians have not yet signed SP Garland
The Indians have not yet signed Jon Garland to a minor league contract, as had been previously reported.
The Indians are still working out contract details with Garland talks and his physical is not likely to take place Monday. This is not to say that a deal isn't imminent, but clearly talks weren't as far along as had been assumed last week. Once Garland is medically cleared, assuming he does indeed sign, he will be given an invitation to spring training, where the 32-year-old right-hander will compete for a spot at the back end of the Indians' starting rotation. Garland registered a 4.33 ERA in nine starts last season for the Dodgers before undergoing rotator cuff surgery in July. He's expected to be ready for the start of the 2012 campaign.

Mon Feb 13 201209:03Indians sign Garland to minor league contract
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports has confirmed that the Indians signed Jon Garland to a minor league contract.
The deal is only pending a physical. Once Garland is medically cleared, he will also be given an invitation to spring training, where the 32-year-old right-hander will presumably compete for a spot at the back end of the Indians' starting rotation. Garland registered a 4.33 ERA in nine starts last season for the Dodgers before undergoing rotator cuff surgery in July. He's expected to be ready for the start of the 2012 campaign.

Fri Nov 4 201108:52Jon Garland could throw for teams
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Jon Garland (shoulder) is recovering on schedule and could throw for teams this offseason, depending on demand.
Garland underwent rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder in July, a procedure that typically knocks a player out of commission for at least a year or so, but it sounds like the 32-year-old has a shot to be ready for spring training. Even if he proves that his shoulder is sound, he'd likely have to settle for a one-year, incentive-laden contract.

Tue Oct 4 201115:09Dodgers decline options on Garland and Blake
Dodgers declined RHP Jon Garland's $8 million club option for 2012.
Garland will become a free agent in November, but he could struggle to land a quick deal considering he underwent rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder in July. He might not be ready for spring training. The Dodgers also declined Casey Blake's $6 million club option on Tuesday afternoon.

Mon Jul 11 201120:07Garland has season-ending shoulder surgery
Jon Garland underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Monday.
The procedure included clean up of the labrum and bursa and clean up and reinforcement of the rotator cuff. Garland had a $8 million option for 2012 that would have vested if he pitched 190 innings and was not on the DL during September with an arm injury. However, the veteran right-hander is expected to be sidelined for six months. As a result, he'll almost certainly have to settle for an incentive-laden contract this winter.

Tue Jul 5 201119:29Shoulder surgery to end Jon Garland's season
Jon Garland will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery next Monday.
Credit goes to Tony Jackson of ESPNLosAngeles.com, who first reported Monday evening that Garland was likely out for the season. It prematurely ends a disappointing season for the free agent signee, as he began the year on the DL with an oblique injury and made just nine starts before going under the knife. He seems likely to miss most, if not all, of the first half of 2012. Garland had a vesting option for 2012, which obviously will not kick in, so he'll enter the offseason as a free agent.

Mon Jul 4 201123:39Garland (shoulder) to miss rest of season?
Tony Jackson of ESPNLosAngeles.com was told by a "a well-placed source" that Jon Garland (shoulder) is likely done for the season.
Garland has been on the disabled list since early June with right shoulder inflammation. The veteran right-hander was scheduled to see Dr. Lewis Yocum on Saturday to get a second opinion about potential surgery, though Jackson was told that he is doubtful to return this season regardless. Stay tuned.

Tue Jun 21 201109:43Garland (shoulder) to begin throwing soon?
Jon Garland (shoulder) is expected to begin a throwing program within "a couple of days."
Garland has been idle since landing on the 15-day disabled list on June 4 with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. If he's able to start a throwing program this week and can avoid setbacks, there's a chance the right-hander could return to the major leagues before the All-Star break.

Jon Garland is still experiencing shoulder pain and has not begun a throwing program.
Garland was placed on the disabled list in early June with discomfort in his throwing shoulder and has made little-to-no progress since. The veteran right-hander is looking at a mid-July return, at best.

Tue Jun 7 201120:14Jon Garland gets injection
Jon Garland recently received an injection for his sore right shoulder.
The Dodgers are hoping the shot calms down the inflammation in the right-hander's shoulder. There's no timetable for his return, but it would be surprising if he's back before the end of the month.

Fri Jun 3 201117:13Jon Garland (shoulder) to be placed on DL
Tony Jackson of ESPNLosAngeles.com reports that Jon Garland will be placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder injury.
The severity of the injury is not yet known. This will be his second trip to the disabled list this season after never being placed on the DL in his previous 11 seasons in the big leagues. The veteran right-hander has a 4.33 ERA and 28/20 K/BB ratio over his first nine starts this season. Young right-hander Rubby De La Rosa would likely replace him in the starting rotation and is worth an immediate add in NL-only leagues.

Fri Jun 3 201116:08Padilla to replace Garland on roster?
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com writes that Vicente Padilla (forearm) may replace Jon Garland on the active roster.
Very interesting. If that's the case, something is obviously physically wrong with Garland, who has lost four consecutive decisions and has a scary 10/13 K/BB ratio over his past five starts. If Garland does indeed need to be placed on the disabled list, Rubby De La Rosa would likely replace him in the starting rotation. Stay tuned.

Mon Apr 25 201122:17Garland solid, but takes no-decision
Jon Garland turned in another solid outing on Monday, holding the Marlins to four hits and two runs over seven innings of work, but would get stuck with a no-decision after the Dodgers defense melted down in a 5-4 loss.
He struck out four and walked one, with his only mistakes being two pitches Chris Coghlan yanked out of the yard in the third and sixth innings. Garland has now allowed just eight hits and three runs over his past 16 innings of work, and has a great matchup lined up next weekend where he will face the Padres at home.

Thu Apr 21 201103:06Dodgers' Garland notches complete-game win
Jon Garland went the distance Wednesday as the Dodgers beat the Braves 6-1.
Garland, who gave up five runs in four innings last week in his season debut, held the Braves in check all night, as he allowed just four hits in the 108-pitch outing. It was his first complete game since Aug. 2, 2009.

Sat Apr 16 201101:18Dodgers' Garland gives up five runs in loss
Jon Garland surrendered five runs in four innings Friday to lose to the Cardinals in his season debut.
Garland didn't excel in his rehab start, so not a whole lot more should have been expected tonight. He'll be a mediocre play in NL-only leagues next week with a home start against the Braves on the schedule.
